I want 200$ refund! Not a joke... Sell your discount card for 200 and there's your refund... They are no longer offering these cards with the processors thus the lower sale price. I'm really sorry to hear you guys are having problems with these units because I must be lucky mine is operating flawlessly I really hope you can get it sorted and be able to just enjoy it. Oh, lucky you! Or you just don't use the problematic options? Card is a leverage to make you buy another processor of questionable quality! So, it's not the point. Simply, price is getting closer and closer to the real value... And, how likely is that they will ever make a new firmware for the product they are trying to clear from the stock by those measures? Not good steps on their part, not good for the brand, not good for their customers!

If it was truly "high-end" it wouldn't fall a dollar, much less x3... And counting. One thing this pre pro isn't and that's "high end" I think it would struggle with "mid range" especially with all the little problems. Unfortunately any manufacturer can label their products "high end" or what ever and a certain amount of people will believe no matter what.

Well, after talking to the support folks it looks like I need to pull the unit and send it in. So looks like I will prob put the DMC back in for now.

I read this entire thread before pulling the trigger on my new PT-7030 today. It was really hard to decide between this and the UMC-200. There were many things I preferred about the UMC-200: - smaller form factor, and no analog video (I'm done with that!)
- an FM tuner
- a more user-friendly UI, and a much better remote
- $200 left in my pocket
Wait, why did I buy the PT-7030?? I was swayed by Andrew Robinson's excellent review, along with the Audioholics review. The bottom line for me is audio quality. I felt that the PT-7030 won't disappoint, given its common lineage with the Rotel RSP-1572. The PT-7030 has some other advantages over the UMC-200: - a spare HDMI output
- 2 more HDMI inputs
- a volume knob
- direct input selection from the front panel
- balanced outputs for my new XPA-5
- a large standby switch
- a free USB dongle ($25 value)
- a more elegant look
Those differences just skim the surface of the units; it would be interesting to compare other features. I'm looking forward to discovering what I can do with the PT-7030. I'm aware of the PT-7030's audio delay issue, but I don't think it will matter for me. The PS3 will be my source 80% of the time. Music comes from my Airport Express (streaming Apple Lossless). Cable TV comes through the X-Box (a.k.a. WMC extender).

The 7030 sounds great, you wont be disappointed. I am more than likely going to bypass the HDMI switching anyway but want a functioning processor for the future just in case.
Also if you ise the optical or coax, the audio delay is much better.

I would love to see a comparison of the PT-7030 DAC to the many other DACs in the $500-700 range. I'm hoping I got a really nice DAC with a home theater processor attached to it. :-)
Thanks for the tip regarding optical/coax input.

Placed an add for the 7030 , got the Krell Foundation Processor, not messing around anymore. Should not be having issues like this, but I'm, moving on.

The 7030 has been great for me, it does have some HDMI audio delay but then again so did my reputable Yamaha AVR that cost me $1200 so really I base my choice on SQ over anything else and I really enjoy my 7030 for that.
How much are the Krell Foundation processor's ?, probably very nice unit but well out of my budget haha

At 9x the cost of the PT-7030, that's an insanely under-featured Pre/Pro. Krell Foundation MSRP = $6500 ... For the last decade, the fastest changing technology has been in A/V. Six months to a year is the longest time interval between major changes in codecs and/or cable handshaking standard changes (HDMI Asso.). I would rather struggle with a $650 A/V pre-pros problems than struggle with a $6500 A/V pre-pros problems - because they all have problems!

Sorry, I missed that you actually bought the Krell. It might be perfect for your requirements, but it has less legacy support than the PT-7030. That probably only matters to old dudes like me. not sure what you mean by under featured....

Dont use any legacy devices anymore, so its not an issue. It does have compnant, and room correction so..... he reviews are great, and they are hard to get lately so I was lucky to get one for the price I did... way under MSRP and NIB with reciept for 5 yr warranty. I ran the Krell HTS 7.1 before selling it for my DMC. THis ought to sound great with my setup and my new SVS sub
