I have Xbox 360 connected to PT-7030 and it's working flawlessly. Did you try all (1-6) inputs? Or did you try to connect Xbox 360 to TV directly? None of the inputs work, but connecting the xbox directly to the TV works flawlessly. My original xbox died a couple months ago, so I have the latest model (the xbox 360 250S), maybe it is specific to my model or unit. I have a plan, though - buying one of these: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004F9LVXC/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Which should regenerate the hdmi signal, hopefully into a format that the pre-amp likes. It also strips out hdcp evidently, which might also fix interaction problems maybe.

3. It looks like the analog video -> hdmi conversion settings are shared between all sources, so I have to have them set to 480p to accommodate the nintendo wii, which is sub-optimal for the xbox. It doesn't need to vary by source. Set this to the highest resolution that your TV (or display) can accept; the PT-7030 will upconvert to that resolution.

How exactly are you connecting the X-box, 7030 and your TV? Also - just curious - which of your sources has component video but not HDMI?

The xbox has component video, which seems to work poorly, and hdmi, which currently does not work at all. The nintindo wii has component without hdmi. The xbox connects with both cables to the receiver, and I have hdmi 1 output going to my tv. TV is a Panasonic TH-65PF11UK 65" HD Plasma Whenever I set the analog conversion rate to anything but 480p, I get a lot of noise in the white parts of the video image also.

Maybe try connecting only the HDMI cable from the X-box to the 7030, with no component. If that doesn't work, it may be worth a call to Emotiva to get it sorted out.

Plug your xbox direct into your tv with hdmi only. Go to settings and turn display discovery on. Set resolution to 1080p if its not already. Reference levels to standard. Also set your color space to YCbCr. Turn xbox off and plug back into your 7030. Make sure tv and 7030 are both on before you turn xbox back on.

I have mine connected with hemi cable only. What 'both' cables do you mean? I thought you had both connected when I read this: "The xbox connects with both cables to the receiver, and I have hdmi 1 output going to my tv." Anyway, I like bosshogg's suggestion. Let us know if that fixes it for you.

The xbox connects with both cables to the receiver, and I have hdmi 1 output going to my tv. If the hdmi only doesnt do it eric disconnect the hdmi and run component in with sp/dif and component out for just the xbox input . This just passes through the xbox's native resolution and should work ;though at the expense of more cables .. For the wii ; you can use the other 2nd component in and feed that to the component out also and switch between the 2 game machines Little known trick from the manual ; press the mute and 2ch buttons on the front panel simultaneously and the res out will change to 480p/576p for the wii

Greetings everyone. This is my first post here on the lounge. I recently purchased, and am anxiously awaiting, a PT-7030. This is my first serious Emotiva purchase. I currently own a UPA-2 that I purchased used last year, and that pretty much hooked me on Emotiva's products. The PT-7030 will be the first step in what will be my first "reference" system. Cheers!

I fixed all my problems, or worked around them anyway. 1. I replaced all my hdmi cables These ones are total trash: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BEWHOQ6/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1Replaced them with these: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UF24OK/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1Maybe I could have gotten by some middle ground $10 cables, but I ran out of patience and just threw money at the problem. The cheap cables put a lot of extra video noise into the system, and just make everything indeterministic. 2. Each hdmi input has the following setup: source component -> hdmi cable -> HDMI splitter -> hdmi cable -> receiver www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004F9LVXC/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1This has several advantages. - Two of my components (1st gen AppleTV and Xbox 360) were not able to hdmi sync with the receiver, and the splitter regenerated the signal somehow and gave a better hdmi signal that the receiver would accept. - If I have trouble with video passing through the receiver, there is an easy reality check where I just move the hdmi output cable to the 2nd port on the splitter and see if that works. - The splitter removes hdcp protection, which removes a potential interference and also gets the latest iTunes sherlock season to work (they messed up the hdcp there or something). 3. I set all my source components to 1080i instead of 1080p If I connect source components directly to my tv then 1080p is fine, but if I try to pass 1080p through the receiver I get audio but no video. 4. I set my analog video conversion to 480 All the other video scaler settings have weird video artifacts. Some get red lines in the white areas, and a lot of times it looks like the brightness and sharpness settings are set to max This does not matter much to me since the only source that isn't hdmi is the Nintendo Wii, and my kids don't care about high video quality in dance dance revolution.

Welcome to the lounge, if you enjoy the 7030 as much as I do you will enjoy it daily, to me it was one of the best deals out there today and the SQ from this processor is unheard of at the price it was selling for especially at the blowout price of $699, if you ever plan on getting something like a ERC-1/2/3 cd player the balanced input and analog stage of the 7030 is outstanding. Welcome gtidudemkvi
I've been thoroughly enjoying my unit for the past 3 weeks now (replaced a UMC-1) and couldn't be happier. Everyday I'm surprised at how good my system is sounding and have stayed up way too late too many times to count as I just want to keep listening to things haha. I hope you get the same enjoyment out of it that I am getting.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
My PT-7030 showed up this afternoon while I was sleeping (graveyard shift), so I only had a few hours to hook it up and and play some quick demo material. WOW, this thing is HUGE!. It sounds fantastic as well. I am running my UPA-2 amp with some Polk Audio RTi A7 speakers, and I am very satisfied with the sound. I did notice the delay at the beginning of music tracks, but not a big deal for me. My sources so far are a Sony Blu-ray player for movies and CD's, and a PS3 for games and Netflix. My next step will be a XPA-2. No surround sound for me just yet, but I think I'm prepared for the transition.
Thanks Emotiva!!! Especially Nick, who helped me choose the 7030.

I'm not surprised at all. I could go on and on about how pleased I am with it. And yes, the thing is a monster haha. Not entirely sure they needed to make it that tall but it does look imposing.
If you are thinking of going surround, I'd highly suggest you purchase the XPA-3. This way you can run the center and mains with it, then use your exisitng UPA-2 to run your surround. Just a thought.

I've ordered the Ascend Acoustics towers with RAAL tweeters, and the Horizon center (also RAAL). I can't wait to hear how they sound driven by the PT-7030 and XPA-5.

Has anyone successfully used the HDMI CEC feature to power on/off their TVs? It's not working with my Samsung UN32EH5000. Based on a quick scan of the web, I think the TV is at fault. I have CEC CONTROL and CEC POWER both set to ON, and I've tried both HDMI outputs. The HDMI CEC does not work here eitherI have a new Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma and the PT-7030 will not power on the TV. I have set both CEC CONTROL and CEC POWER to on and Viera Link (HDMI CEC) is activated on the TV. In the PT-7030 manual it says that if you have any problems with the HDMI CEC and just want to power on/off units, you should try to set CEC POWER to on and turn off CEC CONTROL. I can't turn off CEC CONTROL and leave CEC POWER ON, then the PT-7030 just automatically turns the CEC POWER off to...

Same thing happens with mine with CONTROL switching off POWER also .. Wasnt confident it would work anyway as all the ce's have their own proprietary systems that dont communicate as hdmi cec commands should ; Ive got acquos link [ sharp ] you have viera link [ pana] you get the gist here I wonder if someone has the right generic comms to make it work at all and possibly a manual that explains how to switch just CEC POWER on .. oh and what the + xs back surround mode actually does
