I couldn't find any stats on the PT-7030 either. But I did find some stats on the Rotel RSP-1572 that shares the same circuitry. The RSP-1572 manual states that the preamp output as:
Preamp Output Level/Output Impedance 1.0V/1k ohms
Only Emotiva/Sherbourn can tell out what the Balanced output levels are, since they are the ones that added them.

Wow, only 1.0V?...most integrated AVR's put that out. That is concerning to me as the amp's I am using have 1.3Vand 1.5V input sensitivities. I was under the impression that most pre/pro's put out quite a bit more...the XMC-1 for example is rated at 11.0V balanced and 5.5V unbalanced. I'll reach out to Emotiva and see what they have to say.

What is the latest firmware versions? I have controller at v1.0, video at v1.01, scaler at v1.0 and audio at 1.10. If these are not the latest then can you please post link to firmware update.
Thanks Mark

For those of you that have had issues with HDMI and the PT7030. I purchased a 35ft and 25ft HDMI to replace a previously working 15 ft cable. The 15ft would pass OSD but nothing else. I purchased one of those HDMI splitters off of Amazon that has the USB cable for power. This resolved the issue with the 35ft cable so if you are having issues with HDMI look to boost the signal from the processor.

Hello all, latest issue with my Pt7030, is I am beginning to get popping noises through speakers after about an hour of playing either movies or music from oppo bdp83se. I am using the hdmi in on the Sherbourn. It also comes through when using digital coaxial. Could it be the dac in the sherbourn? Strange thing is, the popping seems to vary from only one speaker at a time, surround, front, center and also sub, never all at once. Called Emotiva, took all info and waiting on response, anybody experience this? Thank you

I took delivery of Sherbourn's PT-7030 AV Preamp yesterday and thought it would be a good idea to give it its own thread here on the forum for those who might be interested. I'm going to be keeping a sort of journal here on the forum of my experience(s) with the 7030, good and bad, so I thought an OFFICIAL thread was the way to go. For those of you who may not be as familiar with the PT-7030, you can read about it on Sherbourn's website here. Needless to say the PT-7030 seems to pack a lot of features and performance into its stylish chassis for not a lot of money -$1,619 to be exact. I'll be writing up a full review of the PT-7030 soon enough, as well as posting product and educational videos about the AV preamp. But in the meantime here are a few arrival pictures and unboxing images. For an affordable AV preamp, it ships more securely and with a bit more "panache" than any AV preamp I've seen in and around its price range. Truthfully, the unboxing experience was akin to my old Meridian G-Series, in that both were brilliantly cocooned in foam while also wrapped in a black fabric bag -a nice touch. My PT-7030 (hopefully) will be replacing my reference AV preamp of several years, Integra's fabulous DHC 80.2. Big shoes to fill, especially considering the PT-7030 lacks some of the Integra's feature sets. That being said, at half the price I'm willing to forgive things like IP based control etc. Also, if the PT-7030 sounds better (not making a judgement call just yet) than that is all that matters. Eitherway, if you're at all curious about the PT-7030 AV Preamp from Sherbourn, keep it tuned here for updates!

Is there a newer firmware than might be available? Updating that might do it. I’m assuming you’ve read the entire manual?

I have an interesting problem with my PT7030 as it no longer outputs Dolby Digital + or DTS when playing movies from my QNAP HS251 media streamer, or my Oppo blueray player or my STB!! All audio sources are played in DTS xxx Downmix or similar. What could be causing this?? Do I need to reinstall the last firmware for the unit, not that I have this available. Any help would be appreciated! Craig Same here! I am trying to correct this, but it just doesn't work... It happen after I tried to update firmware! How stupid of me... It's not that I expected anything, it cannot pull it from thin air, but I just clicked, and since it got stuck, after half an hour I just had to hard switch it off... And then it started, or ended, depending on how you look at it. Where can I find a firmware, to load it? How to load it? Thanks!!!

Folks... My requirements are to be able to get balanced 5.1 channel line level signals to my speakers which are Active powered monitors that only accept balanced XLR input.
The AV source is a PC with streamed online content and downloaded MKV files played via VLC media player or other similar software.
I also have a MOTU Ultralite Mk3 and wondering if that would be able to give me 5.1 channel directly as a soundcard from whatever streaming or downloaded content is playing on the PC
Are there any Processors out there presently in the market (late 2020) that do what the Sherbourn PT-7030 did and at a similar price point.
I have considered the following but they are quite pricey in India: Yamaha cx-a5200 Marantz av7706 Onkyo pr-sc5530, pr-rz5100

Marantz AV7705 - is available at a reasonable price in India now about $1800 - as compared to the rest... may go for that

Quiet thread. Has anyone here considered buying an XMC-1 to replace their PT-7030? I can’t say I’m unhappy with the PT-7030 at all, other than the audio delay when changing sources. And I’m currently only using it for audio - I use my Oppo for video, and actually I let my JVC projector do all the video decoding. So for me, DIRAC seems like the main upgrade going to the XMC-1. And the PT-7030 is already a world-class DAC. Decisions, decisions...

I had the XMC-1 and put the 7030 back into service when I sent the XMC-1 back to get the XMC-2 upgrade. The only real advantage I think for the XMC-1 is Dirac. The XMC-1 had more parameters to choose from in the setup but in terms of the actual operations, I think both the 7030 and XMC-1 are great.

I decided to keep my PT-7030, and keep putting money into downstream components instead. Thanks monkumonku!

Need some assistance please.
I know this is an old thread but figured I'd try here first. My 7030 won't turn on. I have checked power at the outlet, even swapped outlets with another piece of gear that is working. Checked the switch, it's in the on position. I was listening to the unit and wanted to turn the volume down. The remote wouldn't work so I popped new batteries in it. Still nothing. Had to turn it down by hand. Later remote would not shut it off so I turned it off manually with the front power button. Now, I have nothing. The standby LED wont even light up.
Any ideas? What to check first, blown fuse maybe? Just don't understand how I could be listening to it, turn it off and now it's dead.

Hey Chad, thanks for the reply.
No, the standby LED was not lit. I popped the top off and had a look around. Checked a couple fuses which probably had nothing to do with the power circuit and made sure all of the connections were solid, just looking for anything that might be amiss. I found nothing. Put the unit back together, plugged it in and flipped the rear main switch. The standby LED lit up. Everything powers up now and it is working. Can't figure that one out, glitch in the matrix I guess. Might be getting time to retire the old girl.
