Got to listen to my ERC-3 more last night. My daughter's boyfriend was over and he does mixing in a studio sometimes for extra money. He has heard all my stuff. He noticed immediately the larger soundstage, cleaner and clearer mid range, and more depth. He was impressed. So far, I'm liking what I hear very much. It does seem just a bit better than my ERC-2 was, but not on everything. It depends on the recording. If the recording is really well done, then you get a nice improvement in soundstage and depth. I did have to move things around a bit because I have a door on my cabinet that was going to interfere with the tray system. Got that worked out and things are looking good. Looking forward to hearing what others think of their player.
Main system: Audible Illusions Modulus 3A Emotiva XPA-2 Emotiva ERC-3 Music Hall 7.1 turntable with Ortofon 2M Black cartridge Older Sony Cassette recorder/player Snell Type C's (hotrodded with maple platforms and new Snell woofers) Morrow MA4, MA5, PH4 Cables.
Just a 2 Channel Junkie!!!!

I actually have an older NAD preamp that I could use to test the analog set up but I am not going to bother. I am happy with this now.

Regarding UPS shipping: The company I work with ships a lot of items. They used to use FedEx. Over the past couple of years FedEx has been getting more expensive and we have had a lot more "quality of service" issues. My company wend back to UPS and got better rates and the quality has improved over what it used to be as far as delivery. I got my ERC-3 exactly as the tracking info stated. It arrived safely and the driver was very careful when he brought it to my door......I KNOW, I was waiting and watching.

Got mine today! UPS were fast to Melbourne! I am supposed to wait for Christmas to open the box, but no-one was home and my packing tape looks like any packing tape..............
After a bit of listening, I am convinced this is a winner CD player! Destroys my Rotel 15 series.
Wide soundstage, depth and heaps of slam.
And this after only an hour!!
When this thing settles in ( unfortunately after the 25th December) it will be awesome
Emotiva, you've done it again! Thanks for Top End at fair prices
( from the bottom end of the planet !)

Good onya mate. Give us a detailed report after you've had some time with it. What else are ya gonna do on Boxing day? Watch the cricket at MCG, telly on mute and listen to the ERC-3. Cricket is no fun now that Aussies have regained the Ashes.

I'm surprised by all the UPS hate. Do people really feel that FedEx is that much better? I prefer Fedex - but the reality is that they're basically the same to me. Generally consistent and not much to say. Still curious if anyone has some information on if Emotiva has shifted to UPS. I might email sales if nobody has any info. Yes, I do! Mickboy

I heard a rumor that there is a secret code you can input via the remote and if you do it right the player alternates the Blue LED's to blink Blue/Red then Green....... For Christmas! C'mon Lonnie, is it true? ?? Mickboy

When I do comparisons I hardly ever find a difference that could be considered anywhere near night and day. Well after an hour of listening to the ERC-3 this morning before work I just gotta say there is an almost night and day difference between the same lossless content streamed and the original CD played on the ERC-3. Everything is better, width, depth, height, definition, accuracy, punch, impact, life, realism, saxophones in particular are just so saxy. More comparisons when I get to play some more.
The remote would make a serious weapon, solid alloy, rather manly, with positive clicks from metal buttons and it's fast and powerful.
And yes the lights do dim to quite low levels.
Cheers Gary

Unfortunately I didn't have time to play with the females, just some Chicago & Dire Straights. We are moving offices at work and there are a couple of long days involved. I had to have a quick listen so a temporary plug in with the ERC-3 on the floor was all I could fit in. I need to rearrange the rack to fit it properly and that means disassembly as it replaces the sub amp. The shelf spacing needs changing with the XPA-5 moving to the bottom shelf, the USP-1 next up, ERC-3, then UMC-200, BD player, cable box and TT on top. There's a good couple of hours in that, including a complete rewiring, so it will have to wait until the weekend. Cheers Gary

I hooked up my ERC-3 this morning. First impression is very positive. Bass is definitely tight and there is better clarity in fine details. Highs are impressive compared to all 3 DACs I own.( Parasound DAC-1100, MSB full Nelson DAC, Emotiva XDA-1) The only complaint I have is the disc loading time. It takes at least 30 seconds to read the discs. It feels like forever. I own Pioneer Elite, Marantz, and Cambridge audio CD players. They all play almost immediately. Display of ERC-3 is very attractive with the high quality feel of the chassis. Overall, it sure is a solid piece of gear for the price. I think,I am going to keep it............

Now that's interesting. I wonder if it is loading into ram before playing.

I did notice that, I wondered if it was just because it was the first time I used it. Something to look for when it's fully installed. Cheers Gary

I don't think, loading time is going to change. Some players have that delayed play time. I have had a player like that in the past. We Americans are used to things happening fast and quick. Maybe, I have little patience!!!!!!!! I don't know which but I want to hear my music FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
