Regardless of changes made, when compared to the ERC-2 reviews will no doubt contain many of the cliche phases such as: "It has a much larger sound stage." "There is greater separation between my L&R speakers. Instruments seem as if there are floating." "There is much less sibilance." "The highs are crisper and the bass is much tighter." And my absolute favorite: "I am hearing things in my music that I have never heard before." Really? And don't forget "My wife came in from the other room asking if I changed something in my system. It sounds so much more real".

This is probably the number 1 reason some people don't buy the current ERC-2.

Is there a digital input? I miss that on the ERC-2. The lack of a digital input and lack of SACD is a problem for many of us.

Thanks for the info on the loader. The ERC-2 will be with me for a long time. I just love the silky smooth slot loader on the ERC-2. In fact this should increase the used prices on the ERC-2. I have yet to hear of anyone having problems with the Toshiba slot loader. You're welcome. I just wished I asked more info from the Emo guys that so I can share here in the forum. I would have no problem with ERC-2's front loading mechanism cause my car's stereo has the same and I never had any problem. But I was more interested in the XDA-2 cause I was planning to but it... and I did! I hope Geebo will have no problem posting the picture I emailed to him last night.

Click quote or reply and you should have an add attachment button up at the top on the right side. Not the very top of the page but approximately across from where it says Subject. I sure would like to see this new ERC-3. You're right, it's there... thanks. But again I tried and failed. It won't allow it and there is an error message that this forum has exceeded its attachment limit. It's only 65kb! grrrr... I'll just email it to you if you want (pm me on your email address) I noticed that one of my prior post which had an attachment had the pic gone now and I got that same attachment limit exceeded message when I tried to click the little icon that was left.Must be a bug in the new version of ProBoards or a very irritating new limit imposed.I hope they fix it because it stinks. Thanks for trying,I see that geebo has the pic up so I'll check it out better in a minute.

Thanks for the pic guys.
Hmm, I like the Emo blue but not sure of the overall look. I love the slot loader of my ERC-2 and the 'star' topology for the play/nav buttons - matches the same arrangement on the UMC-200. That said, I look forward to learning about the new features/improvements in the ERC-3.

Based on the photo, I prefer the look of the ERC-2. Anyone know what changed in specs yet? I agree,I prefer the look of the ERC-1 and ERC-2 but it's not something that would make me pitch a fit.I'd also be interested in hearing what changes are in the ERC-3 and why they changed from the slot loader.I believe that someone said Toshiba had discontinued the drive but I'd like to hear the story from Emo.

I'm not very technical and eloquent in describing things but base on what I heard yesterday these cliche could easily apply to the ERC-3. Just keep in mind though that the ERC-3 was hooked up to the XSP-1 and then to the bi-amped XPA-1L using XLR cables so it's balanced top to bottom. So I cannot be sure which in the chain is really giving the sweet sound that I heard.

I like it, specially the blue light coming out of the tray loader when it's open like that. The only improvement/suggestion that I would like to see is to use smaller font size for the "Differential Reference..." written in front of the loader.

Thanks to dac0964 and geebo for providing the image. Although the capture is low resolution, I do prefer the appearance of my ERC-2. It's cleaner and more elegant IMO. That being said, I think some folks may actually prefer the ERC-3's tray-loaded design since it's easier to load a disc. It doesn't really matter to me. My HK DVD 48 SACD player uses a tray loader and it works just fine. I'll reserve final judgement until after the ERC-3 product page is available, but I probably won't be selling my ERC-2.

I too like the form of the ERC-2/1, a bit more symmetrical sort of. But this one isn't bad and I like the emo light of the open tray. More details Emotiva!!!!!! BTW, as to the new anticipated reviews. I'm guilty of pretty much all of that, but only because it actually happened.

I mentioned in the other thread that I did ask about SACD and was told no (though the unit had yet to arrive). I think it's just a straight up CD replacement for the ERC-2.
