^I'm sure there will be plenty of chatter once we get detailed specs on the unit.

Not that I'm not ecstatic about ERC 3.....but where is the Media Player? I really don't want to build a HTPC.

If anyone still wants an ERC-2, you can get a Sherbourn CD-1 for $349 now. Probably the last chance anyone has to get the Toshiba slot loader. But the chassis is so much uglier than the Emo's. That's cheaper than the holiday sale price of the ERC-2 when it was in production. The Sherbourn PRE-1's sale price also a killer deal right now. It is even cheaper than the USP-1's sale price. Doesn't make any sense...

So is the shervourn CD-1 an ERC-1 or a 2?

I was guessing exactly the same thing TBH, but was curious anyway. BTW, I am jealous of your Maggies! I think that the pro dac is also based on the same dac chips, maybe setup a little differently. There was a set of 3.6s in the emporium I believe I can't wait to try them with the ncore amps.

Courtesy of DAC00967, here is the pic he emailed me of an ERC3. Wow that is a new look! I like it!

I really like it to! I guess I'll have to wait for the ERC-3. But the Sherbourn is a killer deal to basically get a ERC-2. I just don't like the looks of it.

Interesting, the ERC-2 is now pulled from the "Sources" roster, on the product page.

I read an article on CNET today that mentions Emotiva will be manufacturing some products in Tennesee. Will the new ERC-3 be one of these products?

I would think that's right, and also that a CD player would not be the type of device that could easily be built for a reasonable price stateside.

Not that I need to ask, based on this response, but does it perform at a level that demands an upgrade from the ERC-2? Can you say what characteristics you found to be improved? I know it was probably difficult to do much critical listening in a show environment, but I am just curious to know your thoughts?

Oh yes there is a difference! The dac inside is the same as the new dc-1 pro dac coming out soon which is better than the xda-2 dac, and Dan said it does dsd. I also like the looks of it better and it seems more robust. There is a sliding tray now with blue light where the cd goes in instead of the Toshiba slot loader. I will be selling my erc-2 soon.

Hm. Interesting. If it can do DSD then that means it should be able to do SACD. I own an Oppo 103, as I'm sure many do, so I'll just use that as a transport and perhaps send it via optical or coax to the DC-1. EDIT: In regards to SACD/DSD: Keith in April: emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/512463/threadThen again, Schiit has finally given into supporting DSD. We'll see.
