Led Zeppelin is my #1 favorite band.
My collection so far: 1990 studio cds that was mastered by Barry Diament. 1990 remastered cd box set I 1990 The Song Remains the Same (dvd) 1993 remastered cd box set II 1994 studio cds that was remastered by George Marino. 1997 BBC Sessions cds 1999 Early Days: The Best Of Led Zeppelin Volume One cds 2000 Latter Days: The Best Of Led Zeppelin Volume Two cds 2003 How the West Was Won cds 2003 Led Zeppelin dvd 2007 Mothership cds 2007 The Song Remains the Same (Two-Disc Special Edition dvd) 2008 The Song Remains the Same (Blu-ray] 2012 Celebration Day (Deluxe Edition 2cd, 1 Blu-ray, 1 dvd)
I just hope the new remastered albums will not be like Mothership. The freqs are boosted too high, no dynamic range, and sounds overly compressed.

For the guitar heads, John Paul Jones on a Fender Precision Bass is a given, but is Jimmy Page playing his Gibson Les Paul or his Fender Telecaster? Cheers Gary What about his signature double neck Gibson SG? Like Chuck I remember the first LZ album during my senior year of HS. My friend was on the morning bulletin crew, we'd sit in home room and hear the days news over the PA. At the end of the news Jim would get to play one song, I'd always look forward to what he would play, one morning it was "Communication Breakdown", my first exposure. We were Yardbirds fans and looked forward to Jimmy's new band. Got more into prog and wasn't a rabid fan, but bought many of the albums and saw the "Physical Graffiti" tour, I can still hear "Kashmir" echoing around the LA Forum. I loved how Page and Bohnam would get out of sync and then come back around on the beat (like "Black Dog"), brilliant. I'm not sure I'd buy the entire catalog on BR, but I might pick up a few. Just want to say I love me some Zep! I have the complete studio box set that replaced the long box remasters from the 90's and the sound quality is just ok. Hopefully they will put out a blu ray pure audio disc and put some life into the recordings. I listened the houses of the holy the other night and remember thinking how blah and flat it sounded. I listened to IV just now and it has much better sound than houses did. Guess it's just the better master.

They were a great band back in the day... such a long time ago. I play guitar and was greatly influenced by Jimmy Page back when I was 14 or 15. Don't listen to them anymore really - so much new stuff out now.....

Led Zeppelin II on vinyl is one of the finer things in life.
Oh and I never knock anybody's taste in music but I dig the rock n' roll vibe here in the lounge.

I have acquired the Zep over the years. They weren't my thing when I was young and they were playing. Really great band they were/are. Reunion 2014 tour?

I'm a longtime fan, I've got all of the CDs of the albums and most of the vinyl, along with the Mothership on vinyl and Celebration Day. I'll wait and see on these latest remasters; I'm hoping for more dynamics, as what I've got seems a bit flat. If they can do high-res audio without upsampling I'd like that too.

Do any of you guys know anything about the CD box set they released a few years ago? It is the Japanese Mini-LP boxset with all the albums including SRTM. I know it's remastered, but do you know if this is the same as the 90's remaster or? I need to go on Stevehoffman.tv I know they have a few threads on it there

I've also got 'Celebration Day' on Blu-ray and it is the best audio in my LedZep collection. And that really is a shame because I hate the audio on that. It's not the sound as it is the mix. The surround mix on the Blu-ray or DVD is horrible. I'm not into live recordings that change volume levels of things when they are on the screen, and this movie has it in abundance. Like how the drums instantly fill every channel when they do a close up of Jason. Or how Robert's vocals go from being totally tight to totally echoed as they change from a close up to to a full arena shot. Or how the bass and guitar go back and forth with prominence as they switch camera angles back and forth between JPJ and JP. Once you notice it, it's impossible to not notice and it becomes very annoying. While the 2 channel mixes don't suffer from this directly, they still don't have the most life like mixed sound. And what ever you do, stay away from the Japanese CD because it's horrible.

Best one here so far. Please just don't ask me to list mine. Couldn't agree more. I believe Mothership was mastered for the download age. Luckily, the entire catalog has already been remastered for itunes last year so that's done. Hopefully the CD / Blu-ray Audio / Vinyl will be done all on their own as to not be contaminated by whoever / however Mothership was done.

so much new stuff out now..... That's the entire problem, there isn't so much new stuff. When people used to ask me what the worst era of modern music was, I used to say the 80's. Well now I say the 2000's. It is by far and away the least talented and least creative era of modern music I have ever heard. Just my opinion of course, but I think most of it just sucks. On the flip side I believe the best 10 years of modern music was from about 1963 to 1973. Maybe 64-74 or 65-75, but somewhere in that area there-abouts. And no, this was not my time. I wasn't born until 1970, so the 80's was my time. I was born late.
