Yes - I changed all my bathroom fluorescents to ballast-less LED models too. Like them a lot.

I bought the Little Giant which extends to some ridiculous height and can be configured many ways......
Downside is the WEIGHT......Mine is I think the 22. folded flat at maximum extension, you could easily kill yourself in the fall.....

I once had a cheap aluminum ladder that I was using to clean leaves out of our gutters. Near the top rung of the ladder, I leaned a bit too far to one side and I felt the ladder begin to buckle under me. I realized in that instant that I had but two choices - ride the ladder down and risk being impaled on sharp, broken aluminum, or get out of the way. I leaped from the ladder to the side and came down on one of my wife's sticker bushes. Looking up, I saw my young daughter inside the window yelling to my wife, "Mommy - Daddy's using the plumbing words!" I was mostly uninjured, but I did have to laugh...

The “Docapole” is my new “best friend”…..Much of the time, there’s no getting around the ladder, so long as it’s the best quality, you can get your hands on so that you can skip the gymnastics stunts. The Doca gives me a 30 FT. + reach and you can mount just about anything on it, including a camera. I have leaf gutter guards, but the back of my house faces the woods where all manner of natural debris accumulate on top of the guards. Now I can reach up there without the ladder, and I have a small rake attachment where you can set the angle and from the ground scrape all that crap off the top of the guards.

I did away with the necessity by removing the gutters.

I did away with the necessity by removing the gutters. Oh baby!! Were I to do that… My yard would look like THIS (Though the house, a tad, less majestic lol!)

Here in Louisiana, we're ALL prone to having our houses look like that! And yes, less majestic...

Given that you want to move, leaving Louisiana is not a bad idea and many places are better in many or few ways.
1. You may have fewer nasty reptiles 2. Tax advantages or NOT 3. Crime? Up or down? 4. Health system? 5. Educational opportunities.... 6. Climate. As distinguised from weather
Stuff you may not worry about?
1. Can you get a CCW? 2. Access to ocean? 3. Exposure to Hurricane season. 4. Public Transportation 5. Demographics of where you choose to live 6. Potential for real estate appreciation.
the list goes on. I've got MY list in my personal order. for example? Crime is important. Less is better. I'd like to go go school, maybe. Good medical support since I'm getting older. Photographic Opportunity. A LITTLE snow might be OK, but not as bad as say.....Flagstaff......(off the list!)
You get the idea. IMO, choosing a new location based on easy access to the kids? Down on the list.

CCW?

Carry Concealed Weapon.
Some states are 'easier' than others to qualify while some states are more difficult.
All sorts of nuances here. Too deep to go into here.
California, for example, requires classroom AND range qualifications by certified instructors. This is not a rubber stamp and your License is good ONLY for the weapon with which you qualified and registered when you applied FOR such permission.....

Well, if that were the only factor?
Must look at criminal rates. If you move to a place with no CCW and high crime?
Like I said in my original post.....I have my 'list' of factors to consider were I to move .
I DO want out of California. They have good gun laws for some, but also are working
on a Wealth Tax. If you think that's gonna stick with the upper 5% or so of AGI returns,
guess again.....
Also just passed? An 800$ Billion 'reparations' bill. Newsom will sign or not depending on if he thinks this helps him get into the WhiteHouse where I understand he'd get Free Parking.....
So, it's a balance. Make your own list if you are considering moving at all.....
OH! from our FWIW department? SOME few states still have Open Carry. And others
will issue a Non-Resident CCW....Why? I have no idea.......Many states recognize OTHER states
CCW which makes vacations easier. NOBODY recognizes the California CCW, which is OK,
since no other state's CCW is good HERE......

GREEN ROOM - Initial comments on the EGO weedeater -
Immediately out of the box, there were problems. EGO, for no apparent reason, has stuck an aluminum hinge in the middle of their graphite shaft. From a design standpoint, this is utterly stupid. It not only weakens the shaft, but also makes it heaver by an order of magnitude. The only logical reason I can conceive of for having the joint is so that the item can be shipped in a smaller, cheaper box. On a $300 tool? Really?
Not only is the unnecessary joint a bad design choice, but mine was so poorly made that the Allen bolt intended to secure the joint wouldn't line up with the socket in the other side of the hinge joint. To get the bolt lined up, I had to stress both ends of the shaft. Despite this, I finally got the bolt in without cross threading and without damaging the shaft.
When I began to assemble the quick-release handle, there is a bolt attached to the lever that is made of steel. But the butterfly nut, intended to tighten the handle to the shaft, has a threaded brass insert. My brass insert was cross-threaded FROM THE FACTORY. If it wasn't, then it was so poorly machined that it wouldn't thread itself onto the steel bolt. I had to get my tap and die set out and chase the threads to allow the nut to thread properly onto the bolt. Again, on a $300 tool, one might expect that a properly machined, steel nut would have been supplied...
Once the trimmer was assembled, I began to realize how poor the ergonomics were. The motor for the device is in the head of the trimmer, not close to the user's body in the battery end. This makes an already too heavy tool even more unwieldy. This was a terribly bad ergonomic choice. I'm six foot two with good upper body strength, and even I found the trimmer tiring to use. Again, on a $300 tool, I expected better attention to ergonomic detail.
So, if this tool has so many design and manufacturing flaws, why did I buy it? I wanted three things: 1. Compatibility with my existing EGO batteries 2. The "Power-Load" feature that winds the string onto the trimmer spool automatically 3. The "Line IQ" feature that advances string without a bump-head
I got the things I wanted, but if I had this to do over again, I question whether I'd buy this particular EGO trimmer again, especially at its price.

Rent a GOAT?
Seriously, it is a sign of the times that lots of stuff is poorly desinged and executed.
I'd take it back.....and pay more for a purchase from the local Home Store not 'Amazon' where fakes and counterfeit are rampant.

The tool was purchased at Lowe’s, and is genuine. I posted the same review in the Lowe’s website, and EGO asked that I contact their customer service group “ to ensure that your product is working properly.” The product works fine - it’s just poorly designed and constructed.

Got it. I had a set of suggestions for the RIGID vacuum cleaner people. I offered to come work for them for a fee.....to do process / product improvement.
They could care less. And they still make cheap stuff....
