All the equipment I have ordered was packed well and have had no problems. They even package a used ERC-2 that I bought on Ebay very well. Only problem was the cord was for an XPR amp (20 amp plug configuration and the plug end was much too big to fit the ERC-2. One call and I had a new correct power cord in a couple of days.

Thanks for the input guys... rest assured I am no troll I just unpacked my 3 XPA-100's and UMC200 and found damage. The units were all packed perfectly, someone dropped the ball at the factory. The UMC will not sit flat on a flat surface... I assume its a matter of one of the feet being taller than the other 3 or perhaps a tweaked case. 2 of the XPA's have dents in their cases... the paint has cracked and chipped off. Oddly enough the third XPA is perfect. I just sent an email with photos to Emotiva and although I am sure they will correct the issue I wanted to see other peoples experiences. View AttachmentView AttachmentNow if you would have started with this as your opening thread post, not a thought of trolling would have crossed our minds. Yes, that looks bad and should be taken care of if you bought these new vs say off eBay.

I have had 12 pieces of Emotiva gear delivered half the world away and it's all arrived in perfect condition. A couple of times the outer box has been damaged/punctured but the inner box, packaging and the units themselves have been in perfect conditIon.
It's hard to tell from the pictures but are those inside out dents?
Cheers Gary

I've found features in Emotiva gear that I didn't care for, but the only "defect" I've ever received was a first-shipment Control Freak. Emotiva replaced it immediately.
Seeing other companies' gear, I actually think that Emotiva stuff is not just better than average, but much better (speaking QC only). Further, every time I've EVER had to deal with the Emotiva service folks, they've been friendly, efficient, and helpful.
I've even bought stuff on the scratch & dent sales & it looked (and worked) perfectly.
Just for giggles, let me see if I can remember all the Emotiva gear I've gone through:
XPA-2 (my first purchase, which got me on the road of being an Emotiva repeat-offender customer) Mini-X XDA-1 XPA-2 (second helping) USP-1 UMC-1 Sherbourn entry level AV preamp (don't remember the model #) XSP-1 (gen. 1 & 2) Mini-X (second helping) Stealth DC-1 XPR-2 XPA-5 Airmotiv-4 speakers Control Freak (balanced & un) More interconnects than I can remember
Of the lot, the only unit I still own is the XPA-5. Nevertheless, with the above, I've never had a defect other than the previously mentioned Control Freak. Have I just been lucky? Maybe, but I doubt it.

Boomzilla Well boom, you need to come give a listen to a set of XPR-1s and XPA-1Ls, that should round out most of the list. i think there's a set of speakers that you haven heard,,,,,,if that's possible. I know that Emotiva typically opens and inspects gear that is destined for international locations. All I was trying to do is see if anyone else has experienced the issues I have here. Thanks for all your feedback

Thanks for all your feedback Hi dznutz: I'm really bummed to hear about what has happened to your gear. All I can say is that it seems out of character on the part of Emo, and I feel confident that once customer support has received the news, they'll make things right. Emailing the photos and the report was a good first step, but I think you should call them too on Monday, as a follow-up, since I am sure you will get faster results that way. Hoping things work out for you, and very soon.

Wow that damage took quite a bit of force to create on the silver box. Not just an accidental smudge. If I worked for Emotiva I'd be wondering how the quality control system broke down, allowing this to go out the door. This obviously happened after the paint process, during assembly. Something did not fit correctly, so force was used. Can't imagine this much impact being applied to an electronical component . Now we can see another reason to move the process back to the USA from China.
Does this look like someone may have lost their chop sticks? LOL

What you have is a true outlier. Work it w/Emotiva. They will take care of you.
And for the record, 10 Emotiva products, not one issue at all. And for the record...one Demon product bought on line, arrived with case damage. Wimpy box on the Demon...strong ones one all Emotiva.

It's hard to tell from the pictures but are those inside out dents? Cheers Gary I am with Garry. (Hey Garry... where are you in the Aus. I'm in Canberra.) I have received 14 products in 11 pacakages from Emotiva since 2010 shipped to Australia apart from a myriad of interconnects. (Not all products represented in my list below) All arrived in perfect condition. One outer carton was damaged by the shipper in one instance. Also after sales warranty has been the best I have experienced from any company with whom I have dealt in over 40 years buying audio and other tech gear. With my few minor problems Emotiva have shipped me the part (e.g. blown tweeter) rather than me shipping the unit back for repair. When necessary I have been able to do diagnosis fairly quickly over the phone with the Emotiva team and get to a fix pretty quickly. My only real gripe has been with the UMC-1 which has taken a little bit of work since purchased. But even there, Lonnie has stepped in and been a mountain of help. I mean, with what other company out there can you talk to the actual guy who designed the thing your trying to troubleshoot? Thanks Lonnie !! I have still got a few issues with the UMC-1 which I expect will be sorted soon before I pass it on to one of my sons (or sell it on eBay) and replace it with the XMC-1.

View AttachmentView AttachmentMmmmmm! I think Emotiva will have an increase of this type of problems since they use UPS as transporter. UPS guys has probably very gently drop the boxes from the truck to dock, after from the dock to another truck to a shelf to the truck floor to the street tarmac and finally gently at your door. I think UPS employees treat your shipment as their CIE, manager, and boss treat them. It's only my opinion found on what I observed and heard from them. I definitely prefer FedEx.

I've had a lot of Emotiva gear and dont recall any new items having issues, but I did get some b stock speakers some years back and they came missing a grill and mounting panel on one (erd-1) pair...Emotiva made good and sent me replacements. While it should never have left the b stock checks in that condition sometimes things slip through
I'm sure you will get replacements quick smart.
