Got mine set up yesterday. Set up distance & levels. Menu logic is great considering how much it does, but I have a lot to figure out yet. It is absolutely quiet and there does seem be more detail in the sound, I am suprised as I thought my system was good enough before that I wouldn't notice. Everything I've done works good, "solid" is a good description.

XMC-1 Day One, 1. Wiring complete, home made opto coupled trigger amp interface to be able to supply more current to turn on my home theater vacuume tube pre- amp and ATI 1506 amplifier internal turn on relays! 2. Trying to get HDMI ARC output to live with new Samsung 4K Television. The Samsung has no selection for an EMOTIVA processor so I picked DENNON from the menu and changed the name on the Samsung. After a few power resets the "Receiver" option finally appeared on the Samsung audio out menu! So far volume and turn off work from the Samsung factory remote on the Emotiva with the CEC option but turn on and input switching are non-existant. XMC-2 Day Two, 3. Setting up speaker distances on the XMC-1 menu while waiting for DIRAC update. Menu layout is pretty comprehensive. 4. Running a few sample Blue Ray files from my HTPC in full 7.1 HD audio using XBMC from xbmc.org/ Most impressive, cant wait to set the up the 11 band EQ! If you do not have XBMC on your HTPC get it, lets you play your audio files in full 7.1! 5. Copy XMC-1 remote commands into present universal remote. Hey how about some remote codes for downloading guys? By the way your factory remote is impressive, solid construction but a little on the heavy side for the wife to lift. 6. Try to back up my configuration from the XMC-1 to flash drive. Apparently you need a flash drive smaller than 2 Gig or it does not seem to transfer into the flash drive. I will have to find a smaller flash drive to verify this. 7. More testing with my PS3. PS3 now asks for screen size because of the 3D pass capability of the XMC-1. Set up PS3 to pass 7.1 Analog audio out. Play a round of Battlefield 4 for testing. Nice detail, can now hear the enemy comming from miles away! I have all speaker set up for large size on the XMC-1 so Battlefiled explosions have 360 degree bass! more to come..... 6) I use a 4 gig and it work well.

It's in the house, setting it all up atm, having a breather. I'd forgotten how bad it was behind the AV unit, soooooo many cables. Setting it up basically first, just the XMC-1 only and see how that sounds. Expect it to sound better than my previous UMC-1 USP-1 XDA-1 combo so leaving the USP-1 and XDA-1 out. Would you guys concur? Going to use both HDMI out, one to the TV and other one to the projector, hook up Squeezebox Touch via it's analogs out and see what that's like, Oppo 93, PS3 and Xbox-1 via HDMI. Hook up the 3 x UPA-1 's to front LCR and the UPA-2 to the rears, XLR sub out to the Submersive and that about covers it. Ah hook up aerial for FM radio i guess, but not sure how to set if that is possible so it works with Australian spectrum, the odd time I do listen to radio is via a vintage Sansui TU-417 anyway, so no big deal. Ok, time to hook it all up

I got it connected to my Emotiva MPS1-1 MC amp and tried my turntable with the new Emotiva phono stage & XMC-1....new LZ I remaster LP seems to sound great w/the new gear
Now I'm looking for the windows driver so I can try digital music from my PC.....I found firmware on resources page...can't find driver...anyone?
I will hook up an Oppo next...I have 103 and 105...was using 105 as processor & DAC with old Emotiva DMC-1 as MC pre-amp. Now I should be able to keep just the 103 for optical discs and use XMC-1 for DAC & processing.

I have had mine (in my house) for a couple of weeks now and I have had a chance to learn a bit about the user interface and have done most of the setup work. So far, I am running my system with the speaker distances and levels set at 75db. I have done no equalization at all. Running flat on all speakers. The XMC-1 sounds very good so far. It renders a lot of detail that I did not hear with the UMC-1 in the system. 3-dimensional imaging is very much improved. The big Dunlavys are spectacular even without a top-notch processor, but they are capable of rendering the finest detail and it is very evident that the XMC-1 is delivering the goods. I am looking forward to getting the Dirac software installed and find out how the system sounds fully-optimized.
I would have to say that the user interface is the one area that bugs me. I'm an industrial designer, so it is a subject I am sensitive to. The cascading logic of the setup menus is easy to follow, but the on-screen graphics are crude at best (1980 non-aliased monochrome PC-looking), and do not take advantage of the video interface and its potential to provide a much more sophisticated and satisfying user experience. The user interaction experience is critically important and when the user interface it is not fully-realized, it diminishes the product. I know, I'm getting preachy, so I will shut up on the subject...
On the whole, I am very happy with the XMC-1 so far - especially considering its price point. Worth the wait, and many kudos to the Emotiva team.

14. I have now put a little Enhanced Bass option into the mix for the LFE. I now turn off loudness control and used enhanced bass at about -6.0dB with all full range drivers. Now I can use loudness as a boost when I want for more effect but is really not needed now. If loudness sounds good to you, definitely use it, but know that you're doing so at the expense of your mid frequencies, and it only seems to start doing anything around -10. The effect is more pronounced the softer you listen to music. Here are some measurements I did last week of the loudness compensation curves, start at 0 dBFS (the green line) and then going down in 10dB increments on the volume knob.

Took about 30 minutes to swap with the UMC and get it up and running. I only set speaker size and distance. Sounds pretty fantastic even without room compensation!
Programming the Harmony on the other hand . . .

The trigger output on the XMC-1 is standard and it works just fine. I just have some older equipment that has direct relay inputs. If you hook up some old gear with relays you will soon be out of current just driving their coils. I am also driving an outboard line switcher in back of the room for 2 Emotiva Airmotive Stealth 6 speakers used for my rear channel. They have their own amplifiers but unfortunately they do not have a turn on circuit. This just adds to my trigger current. I am sure the XMC-1 has a fine opto-isolated trigger output. Can you delete your post with my quote above as I deleted the post. Emotiva was gracious as usual and are sending out a replacement trigger solution that will solve my issue. I was also told that a future firmware upgrade will address this issue in many instances. Does anyone know if this trigger issue rears it's ugly head with the XPA-1Ls? So far the XMC-1 has been flawless outside of the trigger issue and the sharp remote edges.

Received my XMC-1 late thursday ans installed yesterday. Easy to set-up (spent much more time replacing old cables). Only minor issues: 1) DHCP is active when unchecked (I know others have reported this and for some it is the opposite, bizarre) 2) I also noticed inputs switch when being programmed (also previously reported) 3) it is a bugger to manually program Harmony One (wish the codes were uploaded) Many thanks to all who installed the XMC-1 previously and reported problems/solutions in the forum allowing me to avoid many issues and lost time!
And one question: I use fans in my rack that were previously controlled by plugging in my 12 volt power supply into the switched outlet of my old receiver. I am now looking for a way to turn this on when the XMC-1 is on. I have searched for a 12 volt trigger controlled power strip w/o any luck. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A couple of possible options. Do you have another component, such as a cable box that has a switchable outlet on the back, if so use that. The other option you've already mentioned is a power conditioner/surge protector like a Belkin PF60, several Monster Power products that have the capability of programming different outlet banks to be switched or un-switched along with timed delays. I use an older Monster Power HTS-5000 unit that works great for triggering the fans in my rack in the same way you want.

I sure hope that trigger PCB isn't apart of the HDMI input board. It should be it's own PCB one would think. The triggers and IR ports are on the Linux processor board, along with the USB and network ports on the left side of the PCB. Top to bottom, net/usb; IR I/O; trigger J12; trigger J13. The USB audio interface is on the digital mainboard.

With the queue being got through to quite recent reservations (march 2014) I would have hoped there were more people adding to the number here....with the touted 100's of units on the reservations list there must be an awful lot of owners not on the forum or willing to be counted. I sure hope its all happening for Emotiva sales wise...less than 100 units here is not exactly world domination.
sure would like more system setups being listed though.
Mine is currently using Oppo 105 for primary inputs on all options - HDMI, Coax, Optical, RCA and BAL. Sutherland 20/20 phono pre in on RCA
outputs via RCA 2 channel for now with Linkwitz LX521 ASP driving 2 XPA5's with 4 channels driving each of my L and R LX521 speakers. XPA-1 driving ERM-6.2 centre and the 5th XPA-5 channels driving side surrounds with ERD-1's
also DC-1 via HT Bypass inputs for alternative inputs setup

I know at least two other XMC owners who didn’t vote here. So I pretty sure there will be many more owners (otherwise Emotiva would be in trouble I guess? ). Since you asked: I use as sources: a Linn Akurate streamer connected with Cardas Quadlink XLR, a Michell Gyrodec turntable with a XPS phono stage (Cardas Cross RCA), ERC-1 with digital coax, Sony BDP6200 (HDMI) and Dune B1 (HDMI). Fronts: Double XPA-1 (cardas XLR), surrounds (I run a 7.1 set Up) and Center XPA-5 (Eichmann XLR). All Connected to my Pioneer EX speakers with NordOst Flatline. I simply love the XMC. I think it is even beter in stereo than the XSP gen1. More detail, more 3D. And a huge step from the UMC-1 in surround. In stereo I mainly play in Reference Stereo mode. The triggers work fine here. Only thing that confuses me are the surround modes. The back surround speakers won’t work in Surround mode. But I am still working on that.

Here is my XMC-1 setup:
Amps: Emotiva MPS-1 w/7 amp blades
Sources: Oppo 103 connected w/HDMI Verizon FIOS connected w/HDMI i7/Radeon 7870 HD HTPC running Media Browser 3 connected w/HDMI -- JRiver Media Center on HTPC connected w/USB XPS-1 phono stage + Music Hall MMF 5.1 Turntable - Reference Stereo mode Steinberg A2D for digitizing analog audio (recording records for HTPC)
Display: Panasonic 65" ZT plasma
Onix Ref 3 Ninja speakers + Ref 2's & 1's + 100 to complete 7-channel speaker setup 2 Seaton Sound modified MFW subs
The XMC-1 is notably better sounding than it's then more expensive flagship predecessor the DMC-1
