Whether it is 50 people or not who say "yes" is not the point Gary...it is 62% who feel it is very important and should be worked on AND it is 89% who say "yes" in total that it should be worked on. That, sir, is a landslide.
And...NOBODY said we are willing to accept a tradeoff to get what we want. That is a different question that was not asked, and I, for one, said I would not want (nor would I even remotely expect) a tradeoff. Stop throwing wildcards in to try to support your point.
I suppose you will reply as you appear to want the last word for some reason..

Mark Gosh, and here I was thinking it was you who wanted the last word Mark, it might be 62% (of respondents) "who feel it is very important", but I must have missed the pole wording "and should be worked on". As for "wildcards", I don't believe it's remotely that when many people with UMC-1's (like me) lost their 176.4K in a firmware update. Whether or not it was caused, accidently I'm sure, by satisfying someone else's wants I don't know, but the fact is it happened. In your terminology that was a "trade off". In regards to this particular feature request maybe I would be more accepting of the pole if it included the no tradoff's requirement. That's my view, I'm sorry if you don't agree with it and I apologise unreservedly if I have in any way offended your view as that is not my intention and never was. Cheers Gary

We should think highly enough of Emotiva to assume that is a guiding principle when adding functionality to the XMC-1. Whether or not that requirement is stated explicitly in poll seems like getting lost in minutia, and won't make a lick of difference to how the folks in Franklin, TN decide to implement this or any other enhancement.

I voted "Nice feature". With the UMC-1 and my Marantz processor I was using HDMI for video and Optical for audio from my cable box. But I can't for the life of me remember why. I do the same for the cable box connection to the UMC-200, avoids HDMI/HDCP issues. Which, of course, has nothing to do with virtual inputs (the subject of this pole). I don't see how having virtual inputs would solve this problem. Not sure how a HDMI splitter will fix it either as the volume differences are inherent in the source material. Cheers Gary Bypassing the XMC altogether for regular TV watching does indeed solve the volume change issue. I forgot what thread it was but someone else brought this up also. Lonnie chimed in and said that it had to something to do with HDMI standards and how individual TV's handle the signal. I can't remember the specifics but there you go. I installed the new splitter tonight and it has fixed the problem. I now have 1 HDMI cable from my cable box that goes to the XMC for when I want to watch TV in surround sound and another that goes from my cable box to the splitter and from the splitter directly to the TV for when I just want to watch TV. This way the XMC is bypassed completely when I want to watch TV.

No need in firing everything up if I just want to watch a little TV and I'm not so concerned about the sound quality while doing it. Or when the wife is watching the grandkids during the day and they're watching cartoons or whatever. But I use the HDMI connection for the XMC and the component and stereo outputs on the STB for normal TV. May have to think about the HDMI splitter though.

I just don't understand why you all want pancakes. Why would anyone want pancakes when you can have french toast?

I made my son some pancakes this morning, and he had them with a dab of butter and plain old pure Maple syrup. YUM! Best way to have 'em!!! I got one of those syrup sampler things a few years ago (4 bottles in 1 kit) and was really surprised to find that I preferred the taste of the grade B syrup over grade A. One variety/brand of course, but the B had more flavor. Ever since I actually look for grade B and have found it's hard to find. Unfortunately, my 8 year old nephew prefers the Mrs. Butterworth Log Cabin type crap, so we have that in our house also. Only good Mrs. Butterworth I've had is smoking from a Mrs. Butterworth water bong back in college.

Canada has it's own grading, the US has it's own grading, and then just to be difficult VT does its own thing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maple_syrup

Look at all that crazy information. Thanks for posting. This picture from Wik shows the Grade B on the right. Using that, I guess I should always go for which ever looks darker. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maple_syrup#mediaviewer/File:Syrup_grades_large.JPGBy the way, sorry Mark, but this thread has officially been hi-jacked, all the way to Canada.

but I must have missed the pole wording "and should work on it" Maybe you missed the title of the poll..." Should Emo add..." So, by default, if one votes "yes", they are saying " yes, Emo should add..." and we all know this entails work. As of this post, 87% believe Emotiva should add the feature. Glad to help you find that part. Mark
