They come from China,on a boat. Sometimes they don't have clear dates of when they will be in stock. When in doubt pick up the phone and talk to a real Person.

Wow, it is back to "reserve". They must have sold all of those they got. I was able to purchase mine in mid-December from Amazon, but just for kick I checked the produt page on Emotiva's web site a few days ago and you could buy it. I am not surprised, at this price it must be one of the best deal in audio history... Amazon is out of stock too, by the way.

So I just happened to browse Emotiva's site and I'm not thrilled to see that the $699 unit I purchased 6 months ago is now $449.
Anybody have clues as to why this happened? It doesn't make me want to buy from them again if they are going to kill the resale of products for me like this.

As to why...we can speculate and say that there may be a replacement coming. It was a deal at $699 and a huge deal at the current price.

Are you able to call them? Funny! I'm not sure what's funny, but I usually find that calling and getting answers works well for me.

This isn't an investment but a piece of audio gear. (well if you invested in oil you would be mad. see how it works?) They go on sale all the time, just visit Best Buy and see for yourself.

It doesn't make me want to buy from them again if they are going to kill the resale of products for me like this. Price of gas dropped too but I hear no one complaining. This isn't an investment just a piece of audio gear. Everything goes on sale. Just look at any Best Buy. Agreed. I bought a Fusion 8100 during the most recent warehouse sale (refurbished/returned items) and received what I thought to be a very good price. A few weeks later, it went on sale (new condition) for less than I paid. I was a bit miffed for about five minutes then continued to love the sound. It is the nature of the game. The longer a piece of electronic equipment remains for sale the price tends to drop. (with the exception of super expensive audio which keeps going up for no damn reason) Do people stop buying Xboxes or Playstations every time the price drops? Did you feel the Fusion 8100 was worth it when you paid $699 for it? Personally, I don't buy gear thinking about the resale value, especially when the tech in the gear is constantly changing like A/V receivers.

It's one thing to drop a price 20%, but to drop the price of something over 40% within 6 months will really hurt brand loyalty. I've proudly shown my 8100 to many friends and talked about it online as real advocate... then I stop by considering a new amp to replace/upgrade my rotel and see this. It's poor branding/marketing to make a fool out of your customers.
IF I had a company like this and decided to lower a price so soon I would probably offer something like 1/2 the difference off buying a future product.

I wonder what the early 4k technology adopters think of that statement

I almost never pay full price for electronics, having patience and researching/searching for deals has always paid off for me. Recently picked up (3) Martin Logan's that i paid 40% less for 2 of them and 58% less for the third.

If this was a very high priced item in the thousands, then maybe I would feel for you. But think about it. Resell price 2nd hand on the higher price was maybe $400 to $450 At the new price I still think you would get at least $300 for it, if you were to sell it down the track. So it may have dropped $100 to $150 on resell. That is not too bad in the Audio world. Plus now there may be a whole bunch of people out there that could now afford to buy one and experience for themselves the quality of sound that Emotiva offers.

AVRs, Processors, Receivers, etc are obsolete almost immediately. It is the way it works with electronics. Amps and speakers hold their value a little better. Sorry, but If a company puts something on on sale after you buy it, that is tough luck. Now some companies have an official policy on this, Emotiva does not. Emotiva builds their company loyalty with quality products at prices real people can afford and stellar customer service (long warranty, transferable warranties, 30 day money back etc). Some of the Emotiva gear I have was bought at full retail, some during sales, some used, some with the 40% processor upgrade program. I only pay what the gear is worth to me, everybody makes their own choices.

AVRs, Processors, Receivers, etc are obsolete almost immediately. It is the way it works with electronics. I respectfully disagree with this statement. The AVR i've been using for 20 years now still works just fine for me. I'm only using a 3.1 setup for HT so that helps me a lot but even if I wanted a 5.1 setup a unit from 10 to 15 years ago would still work just fine. There is NOT ONE movie on NetFlix that I cannot rent and watch and enjoy. "Obsolete" is the wrong word.
The makers and sellers of consumer electronics are working hard to get us to buy more of / another one of what we already have. How they do that is by constantly re-marketing the same old stuff over and over in different ways. I would argue that this Fusion 8100 has very little in the way of technology that my unit from 20 years ago has and what it does have that is different makes little to no improvement in the sound. If sound quality is your main concern being able to stream low-quality music files from your toothbrush has very little appeal.
I wonder: if makers of AVRs starting painting them a different color every year and saying this color - say this year it's blue - BLUE is better you gotta have blue - would everyone run out and buy a new blue AVR and consider last year's green units to be "obsolete" now? Or would you stand up and say "What makes BLUE better?" I ask that question - what makes 26 speakers "better" when movies and TV shows are all still in 5.1? Is a 3.2 MHz computer "obsolete" just because they release a 3.3 MHz computer? I say not. (I counted 26 signal channels in the Dolby Atmos receiver manual) even though there is NOT ONE movie available that takes advantage of this technology is somehow obsolete. Obsolete is the horse and buggy. The 8-track is obsolete (even though you could still use it you just can't buy new music for it).
My example is preposterous but so is the idea that this Fusion 8100 is obsolete just because it doesn't have "Atmos" or "Audyssey Platinum" or titanium or whatever color they came up with this year. A stereo system from the 1950s is not obsolete. It still works. I can still go buy music on CD and play it on that old system.

I got lucky and managed to buy all of the audio gear I have now on sale - half off - or as an open box. It's kind of spoiled me. I've gotten to where I don't want to buy audio unless it is on sale. I'm like women and their clothes.
