I especially like these features:
1 - composite video input (RCA)

1 - S-video input (S-video mini DIN)

1 - stereo XLR input

Yay to the XLR input and right on with not cluttering up the back with useless video inputs.

One question though, I thought there was to be some sort of streaming capabilities, no? Perhaps that is to be added down the line.
Also you may want to change the headphone jack to say Dolby Headphone as many of us were pretty jazzed about that.

I have a question on the stereo RCA inputs. In the EMC-1 thread, I asked for the ideal method of hooking the player up with the UMC-1. I was told to use the 7.1 Analog inputs for the ideal path. How does this same scenario play out for the XMC-1? If the answer again is going to be the 7.1 inputs, is there a possibility that 1 or more pairs of stereo RCA inputs can be optimized to not be in the A/D path for bass management?

It would be nice to be able to preserve the analog inputs for another device that needs them all.

working on the streaming, but didn't want to paint myself into a corner if it doesn't happen. What you see here is not the complete list, more to be added. ;D

One question, which AD DAC's will be used? Will it be the AD1955's? Or something similar?

One thing you guys may want to look into is the new ESS Technology Sabre32. It's a 32bit DAC with an insane noise floor and of course its 8 channel DAC if that's the sort of thing your shooting for. If your using 2 channel DAC's in multiples then the AD or using the Sabre's in 2 channel mode (4 outputs per channel which lowers the noise floor even more) would be amazing although with the Sabre may get pricey. I'm sure it's going to be top notch regardless.

With such good DAC's and what not it seems the XMC-1 could actually sound better then the RSP-2 no?

So streaming is a possibility Lonnie? That is awesome if it is, question though, obviously you'll need a RJ-45 jack on the rear panel. Curious though with that ethernet jack will the doors than be opened for IP control for perhaps an automation system (i.e. AMX), if not I understand, I see that is the 232 port is confirmed which is awesome as well.

I see that is a 3ru chassis same as the MMC-1, will it also come with rack ears like the MMC-1 also?

Lonnie mentioned in the preliminary specs that the XMC-1 will have balanced 7.1 outputs.

Is it safe to assume that the balanced outputs are in addition to it also having Zone 1, 7.1 RCA outputs so that the XMC-1 will be able to be used with the UPA series of amplifiers?
