You'd have to research the Oppo player for sure, but generally the TrueHD or DTS MA lossless codecs will be downconverted to legacy 5.1 for output over optical digital audio. Or stereo, as mentioned above, depending on settings.

By the way, if anyone from Emotiva is reading this, it would be Really Great if the various audio modes on an input had discreet IR codes. On my DMC-1 I have a Denon 3930ci DVD player which I use with the DMC-1 both for DVD audio reproduction as well as for CD reproduction. I have my Harmony remote set up with a "Listen to CD" and a "Watch DVD" macros, both of which select the optical digital audio connection to the Denon. But for listening to CDs I need to have STEREO be the selected audio mode on the DMC-1, while for watching DVDs I want surround processing. I find myself having to constantly manually select these modes every time I go back and forth between listening to CDs and watching DVDs.

First post and I want on the pre-order list of the XMC. Jeff Welcome Jeff. I believe e-mailing jennifer@emotiva.com or calling are the only methods of getting on the pre-order list. There used to be a pre-order link in the news section, but I can't seem to find it any longer. The other Doug

I called last week and when I was told they were taking pre-orders I looked but couldn't find the link either. Before it was posted here I called and got on the list.
I have one question regarding the digital inputs. How many discrete inputs will it take? I ran out of inputs on my LMC-1 already.
My xbox is connected to analog in for now. I have my OTA-TV out/set top box/DVD optical and coax from my PC that I switch with coax from a second DVD player already. The Xbox analog is hooked up to Aux1 which I share with the OTA-TV out optical and have to switch back and forth when I use them. It bothers me that three of the digital ins are shared between optical and coax. Will the xmc do this also? 4/4 are listed will that mean I can only use four inputs at a time?
I guess HDMI should help with the issue as it should eliminate at least the xbox from the list.
The other issue is the single analog video in. I know others consider that as a good thing but I still have an LD player and a VCR. I know, I know I should junk the VCR but I have a bunch of tapes I first need to transfer and until I do I would like to be able to watch them. I gues I can hook up the LD through the VCR but that further degrades an already weak signal path.
Looking forward to the release now.

Alright can I ask a question, what is DSD through HDMI. DSD is the native format for SACD disc's. If your pre-pro or your receiver supports DSD via HDMI then you will stream your SACD music in it's native format via HDMI and have it decoded by the receiver or a/v pre-pro as it was intended to. If your receiver or a/v pre-pro doesn't support DSD via HDMI then it or your SACD player can't stream DSD via HDMI then you will get it as PCM converted from it's native DSD format.

Will the XMC or the UMC do DSD over HDMI for SACD or DVD AUDIO? Most processors will perform this conv. in their units. DVD-A doesn't use DSD, only SACD and from what the folks at Emo tell me, they are waiting on a licsening deal to use the DSD Codec

Shut up Flamingeye!!!
Just because you don't have any decent FM stations in Douglas, don't hurt the fun for us who are on the waiting list. I have relatives in Wyoming. Next time I visit them I'll come by Douglas and have my Japanese wife (she knows Jujitsu!) whup your ass!
;D ;D ;D

Plethora of HDMI tuners out there. Not.
Although I have to admit, it's been years since I flicked on the radio in the HT.

I'm just wondering - with the two zones, if I use the second zone remote then the XPA-5 on the main zone won't fire up, will it? The specs stated "fully assignable triggers".
I'll probably drop the UPA-7 and go the XPA-5+UPA-2 route for main zone/second zone.
