I'm sure they'll sound very good - to about 200hz or so. I've never seen specs for a 3" 'woofer' that can dip much below that. Matched with an 8" sub to fill in down to 40hz and it'll probably sound very well. Look for the Submotiv - coming soon!!!

OK where is the matching baby sub? I'm sure coming "soon". Maybe we find out in next week's podcast?

This is a really interesting product that I think will help emotiva break into the mainstream market. They promise emotiva quality which has so far always been audiophile grade but at a very low price...low enough for those interested in a ipod boom box. I highly doubt Emotiva will ever break into the mainstream with any product to be honest but it's a nice way to round off their speaker line up.

I also noticed two small "stands" that tilt the speaks up a bit. (look at the pic with the Apple PC) will these be for sale also? I'm actually more interested in those than the speakers!

Class D amplification... I think this is an indication of things to come, like maybe the replacement for the old UPA series amplifiers?

...maybe even somebody looking to replace their soundbar...this may be a good option for them! I was thinking the same thing, they might make an easy upgrade for TV speakers. I wonder if you could wire them to the TV and also use them BT as an iPod doc for music? Do they auto-switch between inputs? Cool entry product.

Garbulky, Look closely, it does have a remote!!! Can you point that out? All I'm seeing is the control panel on the top of the right speaker. Doesn't look like there is a remote included with the 3b. It would be cool if it did, but would drive up the cost a bit. Besides, these are probably intended for desktop use where one will be at arm's length from the AirMotivs. So who has bought a pair?!

I think that Emotiva used to sell a small stand like that too. It was for the AirMotive 4 I believe. Am I remembering wrong?

Looks like it was discontinued at some point. EDIT: I have found the offender thanks to Archive.org. We were right. It was called the ASM Base. This capture was from Sept 2013.

I stand corrected, you are right. It is NOT a remote... I looked to quickly and from the picture showin the control panel from the top, il realy looks like a remote that is deposited on a speaker. Sorry for my incorrect enthousiasm...

In your defense, it kinda does look like an itty-bitty remote placed on the speaker.

I wonder if they can be controlled via bluetooth (including switching inputs)
I am a little surprised at the 1 year warranty but when you get to the this price point, it is kind of understandable.

The thinking is that when you have a bluethooth enabled device, it is the remote control. No need for a remote on the speaker.
These are wonderful little speakers and will really surprise you!

Airmotiv 3B's 1) They have a Line Input (which is perfect for connecting to the output on a TV) as well as a Bluetooth Input. 2) Switching between inputs is manual. (Yeah, we do sort of expect them to be sitting in front of you on a desk.) 3) No remote control... sorry. 4) They do actually sound very good (for what they are). You also might be surprised how good the bass sounds when they're sitting right in front of you on a desk. The do make a most excellent little computer speaker. Incidentally, for an idea of size, I've attached a picture of an Airmotiv 3B sitting on top of an Airmotiv 4s for comparison. Attachments:
