Looks a bit familiar, don’t you think? New Yamaha RX A8 Guess they threw in that extra knob so they wouldn’t get sued? LOL

Consider: Secret Gestapo and neo Nazi instigators posing as protesters exacerbate the problems. 150k still dead. Wear a mask, save an elder's life! Not trying to be political.😷 The mask is useless and just another tactic to stir discord. Anything less than a fit tested N95 mask is just feel good measure. As matter of fact I find cloth masks disgusting. Its like wearing a petri dish on your face. That cloth is a perfect growth medium for bacteria and if people are not washing and sanitizing it frequently it has the ability to spread bacteria. Just watch how many people touch the inside of their mask then touch a surface. Its gross. I see it in restaurants, in hotels and just about everywhere mask wearing is mandated. Yuck. Its worse than having a person sticking their fingers in their mouth or nose and then touching a counter or worse, your plate of food. Why worse? Because now those bacteria have been able to multiply in that mask.

Hate the virus, not the science. 152,000 still dead. Wear a mask.

I agree with DavidR 100% on Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), Plaquenil, My wife had RA (rheumatoid arthritis) and Sjogren's syndrome, for some time and was on HCQ. She had no issues and it has a long very safe history. They found the very rare heart issues in the small print. If one checked out all the very rare side effects on my 11 heart meds I would have been dead years ago. It is proven somewhat effective as a prophylactic drug to prevent COVID-19 and as a treatment in the early stages. It is only being dismissed by much of the press because the president mentioned it, all political nonsense.
.....................................................................
Wear your mask if you feel it helps. ZERO science behind it. Please see my post above for some of the science.

I disagree with the good doctor's husband and I don't recall mentioning anything about hydroxychloroquine but, although it may be "...somewhat effective as a prophylactic drug to prevent COVID-19 and as a treatment...", it doesn't prevent anyone from being an asymptomatic carrier/spreader of the virus. A mask, worn properly, by a socially distanced, responsible person, as I believe you are, is an additional precaution, not a political statement. I don't care about your politics, I care about my family's health. (and yours, I hope you're fully recovered)

Old Blevins,
I think there are two issues here we are referring to and not necessarily from only your post.
The drug Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and whether it is effective. On one side is years of successful use with no major problems and the other side that is bashing it as ineffective mainly because the President mentioned it. Before he said anything there was little mention of it. Sorry but one side is mostly political and can't avoid that. I think there are few if any medical experts saying not to try it or that it is dangerous.
Then the mask question. Only N95 are effective or quality 3 layer mask are also effective or not. Many differing opinions on this subject.
................................................................
My take: HCQ is effective in many cases just prior to COVID-19 exposure (prophylactically) and effective in some cases early after contracting COVID-19. The N95 masks are quite effective but not practical for many folks and the quality 3 layer masks are effective if used properly. That does not include DIY cloth coverings, handkerchiefs, and bandannas, etc.

Wear your mask if you feel it helps. ZERO science behind it. Please see my post above. The dosage for covid is lower than for the other ailments that HCQ is used for i.e. Malaria, Rheumatoid arthritis and Lupis. Been around for 70 years and is over the counter in many countries that experience malaria. No money in it for Big Pharma. Some 'people' are looking out for Big Pharma and who is looking out for WE THE PEOPLE.
I do understand the common complaints about Big Pharma. However, on the other side are my wife and I. I'm sure they make money on HCQ just like other commonly prescribed drugs. I have 50 years of heart disease and am on 11 drugs (2 are OTC). Only one of them is free to me and that is because the insurance company figures it pays them to cover the cost of Pravastatin (cholesterol drug) for the savings in the long run. The other 10 drugs have me still living. Seriously, without them and my heart valve surgery 30 years ago I would not be here. I thank big pharma every day of my continuing life. Noriko was diagnosed 8 yrs ago with stage 4 lung cancer and given 8 months. After 6 months she was in very bad shape. Suddenly her oncologist called and said she had been accepted into a clinical trial on a new drug from huge big pharma Bristol Myers Squibb. They had acquired the rights for the US from a Japanese company Ono Pharmaceutical who had developed a new type immunology drug Nivolumab/Opdivo originally designed for melanoma. Before she ever got the every two week infusion of this drug via IV, Ono and especially BMS had invested many hundreds of millions of dollars into research and testing. Many of their tested drugs don't work and never get off the ground financially. At that time, a little more than 7 years ago, there was no pre-test to predict if this drug might work as in only about 20% of patient who tested this drug. It was just give it a try as she was close to death and nothing to lose. It almost immediately started to work. Every week a person from BMS called her oncologist to check on her results. I had been her 24 hours nurse and up with her almost continuously with little sleep. I was monitoring her pain level chart every hour. In a few days the pain level was slowly starting to go down and in a week she was feeling a little better. In 6 weeks the lung tumor was down in size 30%. Plus her spinal and lymph pain, due to metastasis was improving. Long story and many problems ahead, after a little over 3 years on this drug she was declared in remission. She had a total hip replacement last fall due to delayed side effects AVN (avascular necrosis) from heavy steroids during her illness. Hip is now OK and she'll have to have another THR on the other hip next year. She thanks big pharma every day of her continuing life.Big Pharma looked out for us and we thank them!

I have a BSME and worked most of my career in the Paper and Allied Products Industry. I had to do lots of filtration projects. I would never select a filter that had a retention in microns to filter a particle that measures in nanometers. My State allows a 'face covering' that can be a T-shirt, a handkerchief, homemade 'mask'. I mean really. ZERO science against a virus for any of them. If you're not a licensed medical professional you shouldn't try and play one online. "If you're not a licensed medical professional you shouldn't try and play one online" - unless I agree with you, right? Wear a mask. "What the hell have you got to lose?" 153,000 still dead & Kodak can't bring them back. So long as your attitude prevails, that number will continue to rise.

I'll add that I very much respect our doctors, we choose them very carefully. However, being an MD doesn't mean they know it all and you never can question them or their advice. Our doctors know that I study and research any significant disease we have. I can therefore hopefully have a decent understanding of the treatment, the drugs and why. In fact it can go the other way. Noriko had been on the Opdivo for some time and Dr. Linda our brilliant PCP knew I had been studying the drug assiduously. After a routine visit for Noriko, the last patient in her day, she sat back and asked me if I would explain to her how the new Opdivo (Nivolumab) immunology type drug worked. Here is an MD, magna cum laude from Harvard-Radcliffe, and from the top PCP medical school in the US, asking a patient to explain how a new drug works. That's why we love her. Never embarrassed to excuse herself and walk down the hall to consult with a colleague or specialist.
I had been seeing my cardiologist Dr. Gary for a number of years after my valve repair. I had ever so slightly enlarged breasts for a man (medically called gynecomastia). During a routine heart appointment I joked about needing a small bra or he needed to take me off a specific drug that had a side effect of enlarged breasts in men. Digoxin is one of the most common heart drugs prescribed. He said not the case. I said not to argue, he was the doctor but I was quite sure. So he went down the hall to get his Blackberry. He came back in reading, looked at me and said you're right. I read all the side effects on all my drugs. Yeah, I know they all cause dizziness, skin rash, diarrhea, nausea and on and on, but I always read to the end of the list.
My point is thank God for our generally excellent medical doctors. However, they are not all knowledgeable in all diseases, drugs and treatments especially new strange ones like COVID-19. The knowledge about this Chinese caused pandemic seems to update and change frequently.
I guess my point is that I won't hesitate to post about medical situations.

IBTL - Well, this thread had a long run, but it seems that it's destined to be locked soon. Oh well...

Gentlemen, I started this thread for random posts that didn’t fit in other threads and the thought/posts weren’t going to to go very long or be controversial. Please respect my thread and drop this current line of discussion. Or take it elsewhere. This has been a good thread for many people and I’d hate for it to be closed. Thanks so much! Very good point Boomzilla, thanks so much.

Fine novisnick, I will make no more posts here about COVID-19, masks, etc. However, the thread title seems to be a misnomer to me. Blurt it out implies to me posting about something that bothers some and I want to get it off my chest. This thread has been around for along time. I saw no rules from you to prevent us talking about current issues, even though the posters here are disagreeing. I see no reason to lock it.
Why not simply post here something like (which you sort of have already said):
Hey folks some members here are uncomfortable with some posts that disagree with their comments, both ways. Lets simply drop the comments about COVID-19, etc and move on. That sounds very reasonable to me.
Another path might be to start another second thread with a simple title that you choose like you mentioned titled: Random Posts
This has been a good thread. Thanks

Thanks Tried to be civil, running a continuous topic is not a blurt, it’s commentary and continuous. You want the thread locked, so be it. Why not start your own thread with its own topic? Perhaps covid and the rest that goes with it. Im sure it’ll end as a political topic destined to be locked. Im uncomfortable with the one topic discussion which is destined to get it locked as another member has had the foresight to see as well. What’s reasonable to one can be an affront to another. Yes, its been a good thread and I’d like to keep it open. Your welcome.

I'd like to see an executive order requiring proper dress code for the Left and Right in addition to masks. I'd also like to see the penalty of death for anyone caught out of dress code. Likewise, I'd like to see Antifa listed as a Terrorist organization and bounties posted on the heads of known members.

Audio is about the enjoyment of your music and movies on your terms. I pretty much have left high end audio and not really upset about it. Stupid expensive power cables and so on. It just really got old. I also found the pressures of others trying to impress me that theirs was the best and my way was the hard way or the wrong way. Well hold on a minute. These arrogant prigues know nothing about me. My musical or electronics or audio background. It is insulating really. To have someone impress on you they have had all this experience and they found their solution the best and that you should follow that exclusively is shear folly if not out right arrogance. Again the reason I hated high end. Biggest one that really made me hate high end? Michael Fremer. What a piece of work he is. Shakespeare must have meant about a piece of work man is. This whole thing in high end gets real stupid real fast if you let it. I like really where I am at. If some one pressures me I tell them to F off. You are about furthering your agenda and not really helping me in any way. So I share to others out there, don't worry ever about being in someone's audio clique or club. Be in your own club instead. It is always your music and movies or any content you want. And someone outside comes in and says your way is wrong and their's is right. And you know your way is fine. Kick them out. You don't need them. And don't ever let someone else tell you your way is wrong without sharing details and offering a helpful solution and explanation why. We are full of brand droppers and the like that have no skill in sharing why. Feature and benefits folks. Real easy. What are the liabilities, then your final thoughts. Your way in your system is what is happening and important. Not conforming to some one else's idea of what they want you to want. Do what you want. Liberate yourself from the B.S.
