Hello, all works really fine, but I'm really wonder, why no any bi-amping support for 5.1 (or 5.2) configuration was added?.. I was already in contact with Emotiva support regarding bi-amping outputs via XLR... here was the last feedback about this in JANUARY 2015: ---- Bi-amping is pretty hi on the wish list, but we are tackling higher priority items at the moment, like Upgraded Dirac version, and other thing. So I don't have any idea when or if Bi-amping will be available. Or it's sound field capabilities. If we do anything it will just be a re-allocation of the output path of the surr. back channels... outputting the exact same as the fronts. So what ever signal is going to the front (no matter the sound field) the surr. back channels will see the same signal. Like say, I am not sure the functionality or firmware update availability for that feature. ---- Is it means, that bi-amping is technically not possible or never will be realized?.. Best Regards from Germany, Alexander Hi Alexander, Seems to me that Emotiva has answered your question. They're handling things in a priority order. But never say never! Tchuss!

Audio Video Therapy in NH is having an event for Audiophiles on OCT 21. Lots of big audiophile names there. I will be there if y'all want to meet.

Should my USB input from my Mac Mini be inputting PCM 2.0?
Or is something configured incorrectly?

Should my USB input from my Mac Mini be inputting PCM 2.0? Or is something configured incorrectly? From USB, yes, that's correct. If you want to do multi-channel from the Mac Mini, you'll need to use the HDMI output and reconfigure the MIDI settings.

Best Regards from Germany, Alexander What they described is the common way to do passive bi-amping, some have wanted an option for active bi-amping which I think is less likely (maybe that's what you're hoping for?). Each of us have priorities for what we'd like to see in the XMC-1, along these lines I'd like to see 'copy surround to rear' as an option for enhancing 5.1 material on 7.1 systems; this however isn't my highest priority. Emotiva has to take everyone's desires and choose what features will benefit the most XMC owners. They also have to prioritize bug fixes over new features. Both what you want and what I want can be accomplished with a Y cable, so they probably put it low on the list, but I'd be surprised if either wasn't possible.

What is this? Is it the "Loudness" button on the remote? How do we adjust it? Sincerely /b

If you really want to bi-wire or bi-amp, buy a splitter cable. It's going to be just as [in]effective as the feature Emotiva mentioned implementing. The benefits from bi-amping are realized when you eliminate the passive crossover network and replace it with an active one. I doubt Emotiva will ever provide the latter functionality. That's more of a DIY speaker builder demographic (niche).

I tried all of the status display options, but don't see any difference ? You are supposed to see a difference when you push the info button right?

Best Regards from Germany, Alexander I'm hoping they don't. Active Bi-amping should be delegated to dedicated equipment for DIY builds since speaker crossovers are much more than just what freq you set it at. You are almost guarantied to make things worse over a properly designed (for a particular speaker) passive crossover on a commercial offering if you simply bypass the built in passive one. Especially if all you are setting is crossover points. And passive Bi-amping like your example above is just a way to make you "buy" amps.

My old Onkyo has that lame bi-amping feature. It's stupid, to put it bluntly.
The firmware loaded fast and works great.
The only small change I would have liked to see among these small changes is the volume status - I like that horizontal bar look better and was hoping that was what the volume status would be.

Update seems great so far. Finally able to play SACD's again from the OPPO. Also no more menu flickering off and on, on the t.v. , when shutting unit down.

Everything here looking and sounding great after the update! No problems encountered.
Just curious, how do you get the clock display? I normally keep my OSD at 0 brightness, so maybe that is why? Or is there a specific setting for this?
Thanks to all and a special thanks to the Emotiva crew for their excellent work!!
Regards to all,
Steve

Seriously though, there is no clock function.
