Emotiva is on the CES exhibitors list, so I'm sure their team is there showing off gear in person. I'm a little amazed that nobody from the forums is attending CES though.

Gotta love the cheap from China comment in the Sound and Vision post. Maybe he missed that they are bringing a ton of work back to Tennessee.

Teaman, there are more ignorant people out there than people that search out the truth. I always read comments when available on News events around the world. Only every now and then will I read a comment by someone that is in the know. I learn things then but most of the time it is just trash and you just spit it out.

The xpa gen 3 mc amps looks much easier to service than the current gen 1/2 versions so that's a significant improvement for those overseas.

Wizard, I have only heard from Emotiva that the Gen 3 XPA will need to be sent in to add Amp Modules. I am sure we will hear more about this and find out if the End User can perform this and maybe even repairs.

I magnified the back picture of the Emersa EMP-1 PrePro and unless there is an Optical/Coax Digital out on the other side of the HDMI ports there is not one. I was hoping to just plug in a Sennheiser RS 185 wireless headphone using the optical input. That way I could always just pick them up and listen to TV, Movie or Music. I will sort something else out. There is always a way. Other than that I do not need any more coonections than the Emersa EMP-1 offers. It has RCA 7.2 inputs. One RCA sub and one XLR sub. Two analog inputs. IR input and output. Ethernet. Trigger out. USB, one Coax digital and one optical digital input. Not sure about how many HDMI In and Out ?

"Because the entire architecture is modular, you can upgrade any XPA Gen 3 amplifier at any time to grow as your needs grow. Upgrading your amp, however, won’t be user-installable. You’ll need to ship the amp back to Emotiva or have one of Emotiva’s qualified international distribution partners do the installation." If that is true, then unless shipping the amp back and forth to / from Emotiva is included in the upgrade price, then that wouldn't be cost effective for the end user.

I wonder when we will get information on these products. All the speculation that is going to populate this forum and other forums is going to be ripe with complaining about issues that may not even be real.

Axis: The French article you linked says 5 HDMI in and 1 HDMI out, all HDMI 2.0. They are not sure about HDR compatibility though and there is no Information given regarding HDCP. The D/A is from AKM. What is interesting imho is that the EMP-1 Display is blue on the Pictures, not White!

Never heard of the Dac chip but looks very good from what I see on there site. More research. I love research. Display looks cool to me ! Cheers Bolle !

For what's coming down everywhere else, it's gotta do HDR and HDCP 2.2 otherwise you are slamming the door on what's about to happen. Samsung UHD player starts next month (can pre-order for $400), more UHD BD titles are being announced (Life of Pi, e.g.). I think HDR is the lynch-pin, that's what's really going to distinguish quality of video on top of 4K. Still waiting and hoping, but looking like I may not jump until 2017. I think the real kick-off will be when Oppo releases their UHD player (late this year or early next year). Could probably be used as a more basic pre-pro, like the current models, until just the right other box comes along.
