How many different amps do people need? Really. Especially if they all going to potentially sound the same. The answer my friend, is blowin' in the wind... Or you can derive it from this:

I believe the Emersa is a different audience they are after - not one worried about power so much as size and looks. Emo believes those customers won't buy the BasX or XPA so selling to them won't dilute sales. That's my understanding but I could easily be wrong.

Or you can derive it from this: I have a much simpler set of formulae for how many amps you need. Formula 1 is tempered by formula 2. Formula 1 is: A = A + 1, where A is the number of amps you have now. This is tempered, or corrected by S... so: S = S - 1 where S is the number of amplifiers at which your Spouse would leave you.

Awesome math. I always looked at it as poet Lariat Nipsy Russell may have said. Violets and Emotiva are blue, but only Emotiva has the just amplifier for you. Pretty corny huh? But true. Music is math with love. Love the music, and enjoy your weekend.

Emersa amps have a identity problem if you ask me. sure they are lighter etc, but overlaps with basX at a higher price. ice modules are not hard to come by online either. there have been a few products like that in the past where the buyer gets confused by the offerings. instead they could have been marketed for active crossover setups, 2 and 4 modules (for each speaker) in as compact form as possible.. for stereo 2way and stereo 4way setups. that would make some sense given how much traction DSPs like minidsp are getting these days. Thanks for the info. I wish the basX 5 channel amp was at least 125wpc.

My guess would be that side by side, they would be all but impossible to tell apart, sound wise. Though that is a comparison that I'm looking forward to hearing about. So I guess that you would be paying fifty percent more for weight and heat savings. Do we have the full specs into 4 ohms yet? Chances are the emersa's will put out more watts per channel into low impedance loads for difficult speakers like many class d's . And possibly lower power consumption being more efficient than a class a/b . I like the idea of class d as it helps the planet all things being equal

Thanks for the info. I wish the basX 5 channel amp was at least 125wpc. That would be slightly less than a 1 dB increase in SPL (all else being equal, barely noticeable). It is up 20 WPC from its predecessor, the UPA-500.

I won't mind getting the 5 channel basX for back surround and ceiling channel duties. makes it more affordable and emotiva always delivers!
