Dude, I was NOT being sarcastic when I thanked you for a thoughtful response. What the heck is going on today? Is it a full moon? I liked your reasoned reply and thanked you. Nothing more. There was no insult intended. Peace, Dan Respect, Big Dan. I think you may have confused us, you have two forum goons talking to you. Bmoney made a comment saying that he thinks you should have 5 year warranties across the board. I replied to his comment comparing your choices in amp warranties to computer PSU warranties and explaining why I would imagine you would elect to have different warranties. You replied that you liked the comment and called it an adult analysis. He then replied to your comment complaining about you being mean to your customers and taking issue with the "adult analysis". I don't have any issue with what you said as you were complimenting me. I'm not sure why he has an issue with what you said.

Silly to not offer the same five year warranty. Not sure if it's silly - it's a business decision that the consumer must factor in when considering purchasing BasX. I just don't recall any comments regarding the warranty terms when they announced the line. I'm totally indifferent about it bc I'll most likely go with the XPA gen3 amp for my Atmos speakers so I don't have a skin in the game. It's not unprecedented- I didn't know that the ego dacs had a 1 year warranty until I just looked up the owners manual out of curiosity- so there it is

I'm still hoping for a strictly 2-channel killer pre amp for us 2-channel dinosaurs. Don't get me wrong, the XSP-2 G2 is a fantastic pre but I have no use for all the HT stuff in my reference system. It would be nice to see a top notch Pre and then I'd put the XSP-1 into my HT system. Oh well, I'll keep dreaming.

You could use a dc-1 as a pre and grab a sp-1 to use with it to expand the inputs if needed. Then you'll have a dac and a pre in one.

And people wonder why Dan has kept a low profile these past few years.. Who can blame him..
I don't.

Obviously Dan can do anything he likes with his company, and his warranties. I just don't understand having different levels of warranty offered for different levels of products. I see that even Bryston offers different warranties so maybe this is becoming the norm. I was impressed with the five year warranty and just as impressed with the three years....just to a lesser extent....hahaha

The amps I currently have were built (by me) in my living room! After almost two years of use they still performing flawlessly!! I am sure an Emotiva amp which is built with a lot of engineering behind it should be trouble free for way more years than what is warranted for....

Everyone here needs to be respectful of each other and avoid the name calling and personal attacks. They really are not necessary and won't be tolerated. Everyone just take a step back, relax and lets get back on topic.

I understand the talk about the warranty change but since I think we've voiced that, I think a change in topic regarding the amp would be more interesting. For instance Dan mentioned some changes he made. I couldn't understand what he meant fully. if anybody wants to dicuss it that would be nice.

Garbulky you really cant look at pics and tell what is difference from the Ultra. I believe the UPA-2 was the first Ultra amp and it used X series blades. We both know that amp was sweet. The capacitors look different than the ones in the older Ultra amps and the circuitry can be a whole different design that performs at or above the X series. If anything I have learned that the chassis does not need to be full capacitors and boards to perform. They have been reducing there components all along and with the fans that do not seem to create any noise they have reduced the heat sinks also. I did not find any mention from Dan about them in this thread but I will be looking for any info I can find on them and post what I find. To many here just guess about things based on things they learned from the past. I see that all the time here. They had nothing other to say because they knew nothing else so they went after the warranty so they could look like there cool and in the know.

For instance Dan mentioned some changes he made. I couldn't understand what he meant fully. if anybody wants to dicuss it that would be nice. I like the idea, I will bite :-) Quoting Dan from another thread: "We knew we could make big improvements in the power amplifier and front end circuitry, so the new line was fully updated. Also, we wanted to tie the cosmetics more strongly to the main X series for marketing and brand reasons. What wasn't broke, we left alone. The power amplifier design is all new and is very similar to the gen 2 architecture. The board level construction is substantially improved, IMO. Also, no single sided PCB's are use anymore for enhanced electrical performance and reliability. All power supply capacitors are now low ESR 105 C rated for long life. They now use the very rugged On Semi power devices, just like the X Series. The preamps are all new designs, as is the SSP. All in all, much better than the prior series, and the Ultras were very sweet. These are sweeter!! We learn from each generation of design and strive to improve the next." Commenting on two things I am familiar with: - No more single sided boards means that components are now soldered on both sides of the board(s). That means shorter paths between sections of the amps. Probably there are more layers in the boards, likely with more ground planes. That helps with shielding and more copper means also better power dissipation. - Low ESR capacitors. ESR stands for Equivalent Series Resistance. Generally, the lower the better. Less power is wasted on the caps and it helps with reducing ripple too, as for a given current ripple, with lower ESR you get lower voltage ripple, which could be heard as a "hum" (V=RxI) Double-sided, multi-layer boards and low ESR, high temp rated caps are not cheap. Good move improving in those areas.

31 new products in the hopper now... You'll see new products being released all summer and into the fall... Will one of them, by any chance, be a full-featured network player? This would be a player with wifi, Ethernet, USB, coax and optical digital inputs, analog inputs, quality onboard DACs able to handle 384/24 PCM and DSD, digital and analog outs, and a BUILT-IN COLOR DISPLAY. I'm amazed at how few audio equipment outfits are exploiting this market. There are perhaps 6 players out there at the moment that have at least some of those features. None has all of them. Only a couple of them have decent-sized color displays, but they lack something else. Pioneer has two players with small (2.5") color displays, but navigating a music library with them is cumbersome and the units do not have wifi. Sony has a player with a nice color display, but it will not stream from a network server. Cambridge Audio has two players with color displays, but lame DACS that do not handle DSD and are grossly overpriced. Marantz also has a couple of players, but with 2-4 line text displays. There are several other players out there with no display at all --- they expect you to navigate a music library with your smart phone, for which they supply an app. This is STUPID. Like selling a radio and expecting the buyer to buy a separate device if he wants to change stations. The player should be usable by anyone in the room with it, whether or not he has a smartphone (with the correct app installed) in his pocket. The best product of this type currently on the market is the Grace Digital Primo player. It is a tiny thing with a lovely 3.5" color display and rock-solid wifi (I've had one in daily use for 2 years and never experienced a dropout, using two different routers). The thing costs $120 at Amazon. www.amazon.com/Grace-Digital-GDI-IRCA700-Wireless-Featuring/dp/B00KT0ES54/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464569122&sr=8-1&keywords=grace+digital+primoThe Primo is not perfect: it has a fairly lame DAC (a 96/24 Wolfson WM8731SEDS) and no digital outputs for feeding a better one. It has no Ethernet port, but it has a USB input which an accessory Ethernet port can be added. Nonetheless, the audio quality is very good, and easily worth $120. Many people these days have audio systems in several rooms of the house. I have 4, and am about to add another on the back porch. There is a market for a front-end player for these systems which can pull files from a central server without relying on an external device for browsing. Grace Digital shows that such a component need not be expensive. The BasX line would be the perfect home for such a product.

Can't recommend a Squeezebox touch any longer to a new user at this point. It is long unsupported by logitech. Their android app no longer works, it is time for new users to move on.
Several good options out there with the exception of the cool touch screen.
