Looks like the perfect unit for many. But I voted no. At first glance I would only switch one priority, and from my history I bet you already know where I'm going. I would totally ditch the XLR input and outputs in favor of more RCA analog inputs, at least 1 RCA analog record loop output, and the same for digital inputs with at least 1 output. XLR is simply something most people just don't need, it's more a luxury. Someone should make a poll here to see who uses what. Wait, I'll do it...... From Big Dan's original post: Serious, on topic replies only please. Don't start asking for this to be what it is not... we have other solutions for the dreamers out there coming soon!!Follow directions, eh?

Yes, or the EMP-1, depends on which comes first. However I would prefer this one. Please include full blackout mode for a serious HT!

I wasn't going to say anything, but a few others before me did, so figured why not. It was just one little suggestion, not my normally monster list. I even made an effort to start a poll about it. And since when does anyone follow directions on a forum? Unfortunately never.

I am sure there would be takers but I would not be one of them. Dirac is way over my head and 7.2 is as much as I can possibly fit into any of my rooms.

As a replacement for the UMC-200 it ticks almost all of the boxes for me. It resolves the HDMI, HDCP, 4K issues, has the great TI/Burr Brown DAC implementation for improved sound quality, wifi is a must these days, since my HT bypass is all connected via XLR whilst not a biggy it will be useful, I'd really like to give DIRAC a go in my set up and the price is reasonable (Inc 25% UFL). Plus a weapons grade remote, that would make 3, one for each hand What's missing for me is Atmos/DTS-X comparability, I really liked Dan's original suggestion for the XMC-1 of offering a 5.1.2 upgrade. More than 5 surrounds simply doesn't work in my room, but 5.1.2 will. So I gotta ask, why no Atmos/DTS-X? Is the hardware currently too costly for that price point? The Atmos licensing too expensive? DTS-X is free isn't it? Or is it a stretch engineering wise, to fit it into that sized box and/or time consuming and you guys are fully committed for resources? From a commercial perspective with Atmos/DTS-X on board I really believe that at that price point (maybe slightly higher) it would be a killer product and sell in very reasonable volume (in Emotiva terms). Take that out and it falls into a category with much smaller volume potential. Cheers Gary

If I didn't already have an XMC-1, I would. Or, if I needed a second unit...I would.

Hi everyone, Big Dan asked me to post this concept before I left tonight. Personally I think it looks pretty badass and hope you do too.

Very cool! Now, if you had ONLY made the XMC architecture modular, imagine how easy this would be for Emotiva to do! Oh, wait...you did! Who is the genius who thought of that?!?!?!? Proabably was Boomzilla No wonder they replaced Lonnie with him. Mark

Nick, was it supposed to be 5 HDMI in, or 4? I thought Dan said 5.
I'm liking what I'm seeing so far.

Hi everyone, Big Dan asked me to post this concept before I left tonight. Personally I think it looks pretty badass and hope you do too. Overall, I like it. F ive criticisms regarding the layout. #1 Volume Knob. If the BasX MC-700 has a knob, the XMC-1L MUST have a knob too. I HATE volume buttons. A lot of other people do too - it is just cheap feeling not to have one. (not a killer, but I HATE volume buttons) #2 The room correction microphone connection needs to be in the front of the unit, always.....Never, ever put a mic jack for room correction on the back panel. That said, I do not see one at all. If not connecting via USB, the unit needs to have one. #3 Please put a USB in the front too. Make it easy for us. #4 Really, what would it hurt to do a second 12v trigger out? C'mon guys! #5 The UMC-200 had RCA zone outputs. Can the XMC-1L at least have one zone output too???

One more question, I know those are balanced output connections, but will they truly be balanced? It would be extremely nice if they where. Don't know where the nice lettering on the front would go though.

I think it looks nice and for the most part, if I were in the market I would consider it. I have never cared for room correction so that is something i wouldn't pay for. Secondly an extra toslink would be nice. Dirac, as I previously stated is over my head so I could care less about that. Any chance the Emersa middle ground is closer to what I am looking for?

Hi everyone, Big Dan asked me to post this concept before I left tonight. Personally I think it looks pretty badass and hope you do too. Per a leading chain of fast-food's slogan, I'm loving it! Just this morning someone struck up a conversation with me when they asked about "Emotiva" on my baseball cap. I told him about Emersa and BasX and XMC-1L. He's very interested.

My UMC-1 is long in the tooth and begging to be replaced. This price point is WAY closer to affordable for me than the XMC-1. I voted yes.
