Hi, I'm very pleased with my Stealth 8 monitors. I'm interested to know if anyone has experienced an audible improvement by using "audiophile" power cords with their Stealth 8's.

Let the firestorm begin.
That being said, I find a cleaner, more defined presentation with Pangea power cables with most all of my equipment. I don't have any Stealth Monitors.

The Martin Logan owner's handbook recommends upgraded power cords without specifying what features would specifically be helpful. Emotiva used to offer power cords, but I think they stopped. If you have equipment that has the potential to pull a lot of amperage (like a gazillion watt power amp), then thicker wires might actually be helpful. The "normal" IEC power cable has 16 ga. wires in it (if you're lucky). Some use 18. You can buy inexpensive power replacement cords that have 14 or 12 ga. wires. I say, for the small outlay, why not.
Can I say that I've heard an audible difference? Nope, I can't. But it seems like such an inexpensive change from the give-away cables in the box to the "best" that I see no particular reason not to buy the better ones if you wish. I've used Emotivas, Pangeas, and a couple of froufrou brands that I scored cheaply on eBay. But I normally donate the thin cords to the thrift shop & keep the 14 to 12 ga. wires that I can get from the likes of Parts Express & Monoprice for peanuts.
YMMV

Is ML really telling someone that just layed out 10K, Ten Large, Ten Big Ones that their speakers would benefit from replacing the power cord?!?! REALLY???

That seems REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY STOOOOOPID!!!!!!! So ML is admitting that the power cords they ship out with their expensive gear is inadequate. Do they recommend upgraded crossovers and drivers and cabinets, too? Maybe they can also recommend an upgrade to get rid of EMF interference. Well heck, why don't they just recommend upgraded speakers while they're at it.

It may be that they expect people with $10k gear to already have expensive power cords and interconnects. Though it does seem weird that they say that.

Those cords could be laying in the closet with all those unopened jars of Grey Poupon.

OK, Sorry , I should have known that my OP would have been controversial, but I thought that, just maybe, some Stealth 8 owners might chime in with their experience. I confess that I do hear difference in interconnect and speaker cables. But haven't given upgraded power cords a try - partly since the power is coming all the - except the last few feet - through regular (non cyrogencially or otherwise treated) wire.
I've heard good things about Pangea, and might give them a try. But would love to hear from Stealth 8 owners
thanks in advance!

YMMV Emo power cords are still available in 1, 2 and 4 meter lengths. Well made cords. emotiva.com/products/interconnects/x-iec

If I were debating whether to lay down the cash, I would want to understand "what" is changed and "why, in theory" the changes would help. Frankly, in looking at a lot of cables, I see a lot of people wanting to sell cables claim they make a difference...but very few explain what is different AND why they will help. And, some go so far as to state it will sound different and even describe the difference in chocolatey terms that make no sense. Given it is typically a blanket description, it confuses me how it can apply to all cables replaced. I mean...if the new cables are supposed to sound more "warm" than all others...does that mean they sound warmer than the other ones saying they are warmer or just warmer than all stock cables? And did they test against all stock cables? All warmer cables? Any cables? What is their proof? Frankly, spend your $ on what you want. I would personally want answers and ideally data supporting a plausible technical hypothesis. And so far, nobody offering cables has ever been able to provide me either. But all want my $. Mark

Power cords, same as all the other wiring, the only differences I have ever heard I could trace to either undersized wiring (for the power requirements) and/or damage, to the wiring itself or the connectors. If the wiring is of suitable size, terminated appropriately and in good physical condition then I've never heard any differences. Even in cables runs of 100 metres or more.
Specifically Stealth 8's I have no experience with, but I have set up Airmotive 4's and 6's which come with US plugs that I have to change to Aussie spec plugs. I have swapped over 1 plug and then fired them up (via mono source) and compared the sound using the different cables (I have accumulated lots). I've not been able to pick any difference, between 10 gauge and 16 gauge, cheap and expensive.
The Stealth 8's at maximum SPL will draw around 3.5 amps each (2 x 200 watt amplifiers) at 120 volts. Which 16 gauge wire handles easily, so check the size they come with.
Cheers Gary

So far as I can tell, only two "real differences" are available in power cords:
1. Wire thickness - thicker wire has less resistance per unit length, and is therefore "better." 2. Shielding - In environments "noisy" with EMF / RFI, a shield around the conductors prevents them from acting as antennae
Emotiva's power cables offer both of the above advantages, and are therefore "as good as you can get."

It would appear to me that equipment sold with cords are cords that best deliver the desired and optimum qualities of that product. Would a dealer demo a Ferrari filled with regular fuel if premium is preferable?

No point going crazy with power cables. Just match what is in the walls if you are very concerned about it. What gauge cable is inside the speaker between the connector and transformer?
