Would one of you PLEASE talk me out of buying these!?!?!?!? Come on! Save a man some $ please!!! Mark Just got mine today and am listening to them right now. My opinion - they aren't really all that good and I'm sort of disappointed. There - does that help? Now do you want to hear my real opinion or should I wait until they are sold out to spare you some expense?

Yes, just got mine as well and that flashing blue light searching for a Bluetooth connection just keeps flashing even if you only use the line input. AND there is no $200 boutique power cord included, just the normal Emotiva one... Seriously, can't believe the "faux bass" these have. They give the impression of much larger speakers and do fill a good sized room. The other comments in this thread are spot on.

Okay, truth to tell, at $99 these are no-brainer buys. They have good construction quality, come double-boxed, are easy to hook up and for me, I'm using Bluetooth and they paired right away. I am using them with my desktop PC right now but plan on moving them to the laptop since the AM4's are my desktop speakers. The 3b's understandably have a somewhat tubby low end but are very nicely balanced and detailed all the way up from there. The dome tweeter is nice and smooth but gives good resolution and I find these to be a bit more forward in the midrange than my AM4's. For near-field use or even in a small room where you don't need real loud volume, these are great. I'm really happy with them. So Mark - many years from now when you are sitting there with more wrinkles than Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford combined, reflecting on your life, are you really going to say, "I sure am glad I didn't buy those $99 3b speakers from Emotiva way back then!"

Airmotiv 3b --- Wow!Mine just arrived today and I have been playing with them for about 4 hours. Line level from iPad (youtube music), TV (program sound and cable music feed, various genre's of music), and Emotiva ERC-2 CD's. Trying them high and low and away from boundaries. Hitting a clean 90dB's 8 feet away in the living room. What an absolute steal for $99 and even a great buy IMO for $199. Very classy looking, typical satin black finish. Very nice bang for the buck sound, nice smooth treble. Another speaker home run from Emotiva!I might order a second pair if not for me then for a gift for a family member. (I just ordered another pair!) Note: If you have a good Visa card it gives you an extra full year of warranty for 2 years total. I have used this feature before with both a VISA card and American Express, great service and results. Makes it worth paying the full $99 for Emo, free shipping and no tax. Look here later as I have time to post a review: emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/48356/airmotiv-3b-review

My 3b's just came in, and I hooked them up to Bluetooth. They sound pretty good so far in near field listening, but the plug going into the right speaker is fairly loose...as in, loose enough that even though a connection is made, it feels like it could easiky fall out.
Anyone else notice this?

klinemj Also noticed that the 3.5mm plugs are not very tight.

I think that it should be a bit frustrating for Emotiva to see the buzz here in the lounge about this small little gem only during their respective closeout sale. Sorry about this Emotiva, this product should have been more popular before.

Just got mine and hooked them up here at work. They sound great! I am going to take them home this weekend and play with them on our TV.

OK... so I have a pair of the 3bs, impressive little guys, but they are meant to be placed on a flat surface, like a shelf or desk. There is no provision for other wall mounting, not even a keyhole on the back. I'd really like to try hanging these on a wall without having to deal with installing a shelf, or even wall sconces (though that isn't a bad idea, I even have some I'm not using ;-))
I haven't tried this yet, but I wonder if you could replace the two upper screws on the back with screws that were 1/8" longer, then run some picture hanger wire between them and use that to hang each speaker off a nail and picture hanging hook in the wall. I only worry that longer screws could poke further into the speaker and touch something that they shouldn't, but careful attention to length of new screws should take care of that.

Nope, this trick won't work because I see they need up to an inch and a half clearance on the back to plug in the cables. So, I'd need to be able to attach some kind of small frame to the back via those top two screws where the frame would be 1.5 inches deep, and then such a frame would hang on a "nail" or similar hanger. (Or, maybe I'll just use those wall sconces I have - they are light wood, have two keyhole openings on the back top on which each sconce is hung/attached; simple and neat.)

Flip-flop again. I think this will work using a long enough piece of wire, then each 3b will automatically hang down at an angle in addition. Probably a good way to test if I like the 3b's where I think I want to hang them, before getting more serious, as in... My wall sconces that I've had already turned out to be too shallow, but I found some nice ones that would work on Etsy which come in various sizes and finishes as well. They similarly have corbels, but I like the width of the sconces better. These sconces by SimpleDisplay will cost a little more than the 3b's (at their discounted price), but what the hey ;-)

I think they will sound much better out away from the wall if possible.

Those two screws go into the edge of the MDF cabinet, so replacing them with slightly longer ones should be OK (don't use fatter ones or the cabinet might split). However, you'd be better off with a small shelf...... There are LOTS of options there..... (Just get a relatively strong one; wouldn't want it to vibrate loose and drop your speakers.) Use double sided carpet tape under the speaker to prevent it from vibrating off the shelf. This assumes the shelf is secured to whatever wall bracket is used.

So I went ahead and bought both the Airmotiv 3b and the Harmon Kardon Onyx 2. I don't listen to music on my computer much, but decided for $100 I should get something decent. Perhaps now I'll do more computer listening? And for $100 at least I now finally have a nice set. As for the HK, I think it will fit the outside patio bill fantastic.

I have the Onyx 2 in my kitchen. Well, it is in a box now awaiting unpacking in the new kitchen but you get the idea. It is a great speaker. The sound is surprisingly good. I leave it plugged in most of the time but I love that it has a battery as well. if I am doing something in another room I can grab it (by the handle no less) and take it where I need to go. Furthermore, unlike the original Onyx, the Onyx 2 has a built-in mic so it can be used as a "handsfree" device for phone calls - definitely very handy when working in the kitchen or elsewhere. While not the prettiest things in the word, you could look into a wall-mount bracket that clamps onto the speaker that that a screw. This is the first example I could find: www.amazon.com/VideoSecu-Clamping-Mounting-Surrounding-MS56B/dp/B000X9O8SI/OK... so I have a pair of the 3bs, ...
