There are many members here including myself that make their own speakers, rca and even balanced cables. Soon they will chip in...

I've made quite a few RCA cables. Always use cable pants!

Don't get to hung up on price. I currently have a set of rca interconnects that are $9 a foot and another one that is .80cents a foot and guess which one is currently in my system.

What I'm looking for are the ones I see that have like a fancy mesh covering in different colors. I want to do each speaker a different color

Yup. Bought all the supplies online and followed instructions/helpful tips from forums like AVS. My best pro-tip is practice on some scrap material to get your method down before the real thing. Once you have the method down it goes pretty smooth.

I've made quite a few RCA cables. Always use cable pants! I've heard the current trend is for cable pants that are pulled down and don't fully cover the cable and expose part of it. Is that true?

The colored "sleeve" you are looking for is called TechFlex. On Ebay, there is a US seller - furryletters - stores.ebay.ca/FURRYLETTERS?_trksid=p2047675.l2563This is the guy I bought mine from (I just got black, but he has all kinds of different colors); many recommendations for him all over the boards where making cables is discussed. And I bought my cable pants, also on Ebay, from KnuKonceptz - stores.ebay.ca/KnuKonceptz-com?_trksid=p2047675.l2563 - again, based on recommendations. I do think Parts Express has cable pants as well, not sure about Tech Flex.

ac2011 basically hit all of the places I've purchased from. I've use Monoprice and Canare speaker cable to make mine. Here's the latest cable I made with Monoprice 12g cable and Neutrik ends for my DIY sub. I have some pictures of power cables that I shortened and dressed up as well... let me know if you want to see those.

Barry at furryletters is good guy to get some techflex from he can get all the colours if not in stock.. parts express also has techflex and basic pants.. 2inch legs .. knu has the 5 inch pants 2 legged and quad legged..

Nothing wrong with making your own cables especially if you are handy. I made a pair myself some time ago. If money is the issue homemade cables are the way to go. HeRe is a web-site with cables I purchased do to a reconfiguration with my system. Take notice at how welll made these cables are, the quality and how-moderate the price. www.nakamichiplug.com/product-c34b25.html

They look awesome. Any suggestions for speaker wires that need high WAF for running on hardwood floors?

Here are my some pics of the bi wire speaker wires I made for my system. I used Mogami 2921 Quad Core wire this is extremely good wire love the sound quality, it's extremely soft and flexible high quality wire. I used black techflex, 4 leg cable pants on the speaker end, GLS locking banana connectors and red and black heat shrink tubing. edit my pics only seem to be working on my computer... I will fix this later as I am leaving home right nowTechflex, bananas and cable pants GLS locking bananas Techflex I used 3/8" black Clean Cut Techflex Mogami 2921 quad core wire Cable before banana connectors were added Amp end Speaker end with cable pants At amp with bananas installed
