Looking at getting some Sennheiser HD6xx's. Sometimes, I would be listening using my LH Labs Geeks Pulse Infinity, other times I would need a headphone amp. Any thoughts on these? The little tube one sure is cute...anyone heard it? CLICK HERE TO SEE A LIST!!!Thanks, Mark

CLICK HERE TO SEE A LIST!!!Thanks, Mark Mark I owned the Schiit Asgard 2 which I purchased from Darkranger here on the lounge(hasn't been on for a long time) and I sold it to my buddy here as he kept bugging me and I kick myself for selling it to him as it is one awesome headphone amp, I'm sure I will buy it back one day as he wants the Oppo HA-1 haha. So I guess I haven't heard the others on the list but that Asgard is Class A awesomeness Chad

He's getting specifically to drive some Senn 600's. The full output of the amp can be made available to the headphone output. You might want to see what he has to report.

monkumonku. I know you have a lot of Schiit. Have you ever tried the Schiit on the list above? Mark I've had the Schiit Asgard (original), and have the Magni, Vali and Valhalla 2. They are all superb. Even the Vali was able to drive my 650's nicely. My favorites of them are the Vali and Valhalla 2 but I'd say you really can't go wrong with any of their products. They're great at responding to e-mails so they'd be happy to tell you their recommendations for pairing with various headphones.

Personal bias says the Schiit is just that. The Schiit. I have listened to the Ragnorok, and the Asgard, and the Asgard 2. Also some limited time with the Lyr 2, and the Mjolnir 2. I have the Magni 2 Uber, and love it. The last Creek I heard did not thrill me, nor hurt my feelings either. Fiio is my hero for the short bucks amp on the fly. Litterally. Small, and easy to get along with. Makes you wonder why you would listen through that gosh awful Smartphone headphone amp. Anyway. The Tubed amp here, no opinion, as I have not heard. Looks allot like an OEM copy of what I see allot on the web though. Audioengine, have not heard. These are the best of time for Headphone Amps.

Schiit has a good reputation. However your Geek pulse infinity has some serious guts behind it in the headphone section. I suggest just trying it with them. I was pretty impressed. I would say it had the best headphone amp I have tried though I haven't tried a lot of standalone units. If you look up its specs you'll be surprised at its power.

I will, but I will likely want a second location for listening. At that one, I would likely need some "oomph" as I see people posting that the DC-1 headphone amp is not quite up to snuff with the Senn's. (And I hope I get the deal on the Senn's! Great price!) I've recently become a Schiit fanboy so take my reply with a grain of salt, but I replaced a Creek Audio headphone amp with one from Woo Audio, and replaced the Woo with a Schiit Lyr. The Lyr outperformed them both. My Lyr was recently replaced by a Mjolnir II which is quite a bit better (less noise.) I also have one of the new Jotunheims with the DAC module in my California office, which sounds very nice. So my choice would be something from Schiit.

I have a Schiit Vali 2 (latest tube model). Listened to one hour bought new. Sounds great!
Decided that I am not going to do the headphone thing.
May want to sell Bought 1 month ago. Would make you a fair price

I own the asgard as well and the only thing I don't like about it is the thump on the line out when you turn it on.

Mark: There is something extremely misleading about that article that you should know, which is its title and the claims it is making about the phones that are listed... "10 Best headphones on the market" is so hopelessly misleading that "snake oil" does not even begin to describe it... The Schiit Asgard, for example, is a decent piece of hardware, but to call it "the best," even among "Schitt"'s own stable of headamps would be quite widely off the mark. I'm just sounding a word of caution here, and not attempting to throw the thread of gear.

For instance a Creative product is there. Red flag right there! I advice perusing headfi.org for reccomendations for headphone amps. Just keep in mind, they are prone to a bit of hyperbole.

Also note that the little $50 "tube amp" is a hybrid (which means it has a tube in it - but the output is solid state), and it now seems to have accumulated some downright horrible reviews. There are a lot of sub-$100 headphone amps around.... and some of them are even pretty good.... but don't get carried away.
