I'll be interested just as soon as FedEx Ground gets mine here! Though I'm betting a public release version will be available before I get it.

FYI: I have a current handshake issue with my Oppo. My setup consists of the HDMI video out of Oppo going to input of my Evolution kit SEK-3500 that goes to the Samsung Tv. I then have the HDMI audio out from the Oppo going to XMC1 gen 1. The problem is that I get good picture on tv but no sound from the XMC. The fix is to power everything off, then turn on Oppo, then turn on XMC, and then turn of Samsung Hu8500/Sek3500. This fixes the issue and this occurred when initially watching a UHD and a regular DVD. I'm not sure if this can get fixed with firmware or is it just the way it is with my current setup. Perhaps the XMC hdmi upgrade board will fix this but I'm waiting for the next board to release this quarter.

Do you have the proper cables going to the TV (video) and the other HDMI going to your XMC-1, (audio)?? There is a difference you know. This may be the problem, Ive seen it before. Doesn't take long to check it out. Good Luck, le us know.

I only have one premium certified hdmi cable and I made sure this is the one going to the SEK since it requires the HDCP however the audio out is just a regular hdmi and it may not be compatible. I did not think it would matter because it is audio but when I get my blue jean cables this week I will swap them out. Until then the connections are correct and I tried hdmi inputs 5, 6, and 7 on the XMC to no avail.

Oppo UDP-203 firmware Just as geebo has stated, if you haven't already tried yesterday's public beta release firmware version "1229B", you should probably give it a try. I'm already reading positive reviews on AVS about it fixing owner complaints.

For those of you that have Emotiva's "Z" and "M" HDMI cables that are certified "High Speed Rated with Ethernet" and also have a UHD blu-ray player & 4K flat panel, are you finding that Emotiva's HDMI cables are working with the required bandwidth that is required of 4K HDR UHD blu-ray movie discs?
How about it Big Dan/Lonnie/KeithL? I saw that Dan had ordered one of the new Oppo UHD-203 UHD blu-ray players, so I'm sure that you all have used your own HDMI cables and they worked or didn't. I know BlueJeans HDMI cables are only rated as "High Speed", but they recently tested and have verified that they satisfy the "Premium High Speed" requirement for 4K HDR, so I'm hoping that the Emotiva "Z" and "M" HDMI cables are probably going prove worthy as well, and be capable of delivering the 18Gbps bandwidth of the "Premium High Speed" certification.

At the beginning of the sale I inquired about this very topic. Engineering has confirmed that the Z cables are compliant with 4K needs.

Thank you sir, I exclusively use the Z HDMI cables so I'm set then. Since I have the new Oppo UDP-203 set for delivery tomorrow and have a 4K flat panel research going on currently, I wanted to be prepared!

Works great. No issues at all on the 203. Plug in an RS232 cable and a USB cable and you're done. Mel

Some people don't like the board hanging out of the back of their Oppo. Cheers Gary

Hello, all. I haven't had time to update the Oppo beta firmware but I did receive my bluejean hdmi cables and I still have the handshake issue of no audio on the XMC. My workaround is still to power everything off and then power on the Oppo, XMC, and then Tv. I will update everyone once I do the update.

Have you sent OPPO Tech Support an e-mail detailing what you are experiencing?.........as I'm reading many reports from owners of different setup combinations in the "Official OPPO UDP-203 Owner's Thread" on AVS Forum that are having problems, so I'm guessing that Oppo is having problems with getting a handle on the many bugs that have already been reported. The last beta firmware was dated Jan 3, and in my experience when a beta firmware proves successful it usually becomes the latest "Public Firmware" within 3 or 4 days. We're now at 13 days, so I'm guessing they are having problems cleaning up the known current problems in their latest beta firmware.
