Have you sent OPPO Tech Support an e-mail detailing what you are experiencing?.........as I'm reading many reports from owners of different setup combinations in the "Official OPPO UDP-203 Owner's Thread" on AVS Forum that are having problems, so I'm guessing that Oppo is having problems with getting a handle on the many bugs that have already been reported. The last beta firmware was dated Jan 3, and in my experience when a beta firmware proves successful it usually becomes the latest "Public Firmware" within 3 or 4 days. We're now at 13 days, so I'm guessing they are having problems cleaning up the known current problems in their latest beta firmware. LC, how's your 203 been? I hope it does good. I think many and myself included want this new Oppo. Thanks for the info LC !

But that could be because there's lots of Denon equipment out there. With the XMC I had a very brief audio dropout a couple minutes in with Deepwater Horizon and it was fine after that. SACD/DSD problems were fixed for me with the beta firmware.

Most, if not all of the problems are affecting those with 4K flat panels. I've yet to run into a problem with either HDMI output into the XMC-1 to my 1080P plasma flat panel, so I think adopting this player early on for me has been very smooth. I'm really digging the HDMI Audio only output as I don't need the TV to be on and I can use it like any other coax/optical output, especially with my blu-ray music by putting in and just letting it play. The 203 is certainly more robust in loading and reacting to the remote. The new GUI is different than the 83/93/103, but just as user friendly, just a little bit of getting used to where all the settings are and one can easily maneuver around. I particularly am pleased with the audio on UHD blu-ray movie discs as I always have 7.1 to maximize my speaker setup, though not taking advantage of the 4K/HDR video as of yet. I'm wanting to check out the upcoming Samsung QLED's, as well as get the XMC-1 upgrade boards, so I've decided on a somewhat slower/deliberate time line until I can have the best of both audio and video worlds.

I have the Deepwater Horizon movie but have yet to put it in to watch, so I'll have to take note of any audio dropouts(though I doubt I'll have any problems since I don't have a 4K flat panel yet and everything defaults to 1080P for me at this time). Several of the AVS members seem to suspect the audio dropouts are caused by frame rate drops with there being a misalignment between the audio and video. Personally UHD blu-ray players are early on in their infancy, so I'm just contributing these early firmware bugs to growing pain. Oppo will get these ironed, that I'm sure of.

Look at the back of all the other 4k players and what they can do inside like the Oppo does with its gear. Major flexibilities and rock solid build. I am sticking with Oppo !

I have a 4k PJ and have had zero issues.
Watched deep water horizon with no issues. I think it's player dependent
I am also running the beta firmware

No question Oppo will get it handled. A lot of people have an audio dropout early on Deepwater and then some at the end as well. A few of us had had only one at the beginning. I'm sending video direct to the TV and audio separately to the XMC. My XMC cannot pass HDR at this time so for now I have to connect it up this way.

Just got home from work a little while ago, but after showering I'm going to have to give "Deepwater Horizon" look/listen and see if I get the dropout as well. How far into the movie is it?

Watched 'The Accountant' last night and loved it ! I have 'Deepwater Horizon' cued up for tonight. I am an oil man myself and safety first !

Great movie by the way. For me it was right about two and a half minutes in. Then no problems after that.

I tried going back to the beginning of the chapter right after the dropout and the audio drops out completely. I ejected the disc, shut the 203 off and turned it on again, played it from the beginning and get the same dropout but when I let it play it without stopping it continues on without any other dropouts. It's definitely repeatable on my disc.

I'm about to try that out now.

The Dolby Atmos track is definitely reference material in this movie. Can't wait to play the Jason Bourne movie with the DTS:X track.

Thanks for the update, I've been checking in daily hoping to see a new beta firmware. I've been getting audio dropouts on some UHD blu-ray movies, so hopefully this beta has addressed these.
