Looks like the CES registration fee is $100. But I'll bet that Las Vegas hotel fees go Way Up during the show. I can recommend a Bureau of Land Management Camp Ground and a State Park Camp Ground both at the end of Charleston Avenue, but it's probably a Really Cold time of year for that. Another alternative is The Resort on Mount Charleston ... quite a ways out of town, but very nice and with fairly low rates because it's so far out of town.

Does one need credentials to attend? From their website: New registrants or previous registrants who did not attend the 2014 or 2015 CES will be subject to new enhanced credentialing and tighter qualification criteria. This means that although individuals may have qualified for registration in previous years, they must resubmit credentials to qualify for the 2016 CES. To qualify, all registrants must provide a brief description of their industry affiliation along with links to their company website with an employee roster, a description of their business engagement at CES or a link to a current publication or article the registrant authored or in which they were quoted or cited as an industry professional. Alternately, registrants may also provide a business card, health insurance card or other proof of employment verification. In addition, in order to expedite affiliated registrants through the verification process, CES will ask registrants to include a business email address. Additional details can be found at www.cesweb.org/Register-Plan/Register-Now once registration opens later this year. --- Maybe I'm wrong - but I didn't think that just anyone is considered qualified?

Looks like the CES registration fee is $100.... Is this just to get in to the floor booths and demos, or is this the basic fee to attend industry talks? Regarding the credentialing process... same kind of question... is this to even just get into the floor booths? And hopefully this fee covers the whole period of CES.

I'll bet you could invent your own little WebZine on audio gear (or toothbrushes or whatever) and represent yourself as a Journalist. Heck, maybe you could even claim the Emotiva Lounge since you'd be sticking it in all of our eyes that you were there and we weren't ... er, "reporting" from the Show Floor ...

New Airmotivs... I just bought the 6s...it's on it's way. I know these are going to be more expensive but now I'm regretting my purchase a wee bit!

Sony and Samsung have some thin ones on the way. Samsung has one that can bend with the shape of the wall

I popped in to visit Emotiva at CES 2017 yesterday. They are occupying three suites in a row on the 30th floor of the Venetian hotel. One suite was showing their BasX lineup, the middle suite was for the Emersa lineup, and the last suite was their high end XMC lineup. I spoke with a friendly rep who explained the current status of the XMC (waiting for the new HDMI board, etc). Found this card about the new RMC-1. (Sorry about the crease right across the most important part of the picture - it got folded in half. would love to blame the wife, but it was me. man I couldn't have screwed this up any more could I.)

Here’s a press release (link) on how Samsung will allow CalMAN software’s auto calibration function to work with Samsung’s 2017 QLED TV lineup. This is a first for Samsung!
Hopefully we will see this same functionality trickle down to prior Samsung UHD TV models.
