Ok guys,,I know there are alot of you with tekton speakers here.I value all the info on this site more them others..So my issue...With the recent sale still going on with tekton what would be the best speaker to go with? DIs or Electron SE ? Room size about 18x12 will be using Emo PA-1s to power them. They are both the same price at 3000 DI or Elctron SE.. is the SE upgrade worth it? I would go with the DI's! I am unboxing my 2nd pair as I type this. They arrived today. I have been using my first set in a 10' X 11' bedroom set up as a 2 channel listening room. They sound really great. The 2nd set is going out in the Great room. Here is a link that Eric at Tekton posted. You might want to check it out and give Eric a call with your questions. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuU-GrirOXIHow long did it take after you ordered to get them?

I'd love a pair of those Electron SE in Nitrous Blue, financially out of my league though, congrats on the new speakers coming your way, I used to own three Chane A5rx-c but I sold two and have just one left, I need to try and find just one to buy and then strip them down and remove all the parts and paint them a nice blue or something Cheers, Chad

The waiting will be the hardest,,then the breakin begins.

I see that the Tekton Double Impact speakers are available in 4-Ohm and 8-Ohm models. From what I've read, the 8-Ohm models are ONLY recommended if you're using an older amplifier (or a wimpy AVR) that lacks 4-Ohm capability. The theory, as expressed by Mr. Eric Alexander in his YouTube video is that the 4-Ohm models are capable of passing more current, and that they are louder for the same voltage level. He is also VERY careful to state that the opinions he's offering are pertinent ONLY from the viewpoint of the speaker designer and do not take into account the amplifier-designer or user perspectives. I can easily understand that vintage tube amplifiers (that lack 4-Ohm transformer taps) and very early solid-state amplifiers (vintage 1960's or so) that were never intended to see 4-Ohm loads would not be prime candidates for 4-Ohm speaker usage. But few use those amplifiers anymore. Most modern amplifiers are built with the expectation that speaker loads will fall to 6-Ohms, but many modern AVRs are definitely NOT rated for 4-Ohms. This still wouldn't be an issue unless the owner wanted to play their AVR (6-Ohms minimum) with 4-Ohm speakers at party levels for hours at a time. Even then, many AVRs have thermal protection that would shut off the AVR prior to damage. But the majority on this Lounge have amplification that is rated for 4-Ohm loads. Is there any potential advantage for US to have 8-Ohm speakers? It would lower the current demand on the amplifier, but more wattage would be required (higher voltage) to achieve the same SPL. So the question ( KeithL?) is: "Are 4-Ohm speakers inherently "better" than 8-Ohm ones? And, of course, why? Thanks - Boomzilla
