I ordered one for my XMC-1 but am having troubles fitting it in the case, I watched the video multiple times but I guess I'll just mount it externally, better heat dissipation this way as well.

I have ordered my Balanced IN as well. After seeing the video, If you are familiar with PC mounting, anyone can do this. They posted the first two units to ship out today, maybe one is for one of us? View Attachment

Mine showed up yesterday, I was surprised that the status hadn’t shown shipped. But the timing couldn’t be better, I have my system torn apart for maintenance, cable changes, and cleaning; it is the absolutely perfect time to install this board. Hope to have it done today, though may not be able to test until Friday. Thank you Emotiva !!! 👋😁👍

Got mine installed, but still recabling the system, maybe tomorrow or Friday. Everything went fairly smoothly, board is a little snug under the antenna card, took a bit of jockeying to get the screw holes lined up. Probably took about 30 minutes. #1 Phillips worked best on all screws for me.

Looks nice.
I have an RMC-1L, and seeing these pictures makes me think about moving up to an RMC-1. But then I remember that I have an awesome valve phono stage that is unlikely to be adequately replaced by a solid state board plugged into an AVP. I also remember that I don't have a current use for the existing balanced inputs.
FOMO crisis averted - but I'm sure everyone is going to love their new toys.

The time I ordered my RMC-1 - the other models were not yet available. And I have the Goldnote PH-10 (incl. PSU-10) as a Phono Stage - it supports RCA & XLR.
But my RS150 Streamer/DAC also uses XLR so I'm happy with my RMC-1 and the module. No need for the extra Phono Module, and with 3 Balanced IN, I'm good for the future as well.
Just use 5.0.4 Speaker setup.

I have now done some basic tests on the Balanced Input Expansion Board. My first use case is essentially a microphone preamp, typically used as an ADC to USB for recording, I have several in my studio. I have (2) two channel models, one from Behringer, and one from Focusrite (thanks audiobill for the recommendation many years ago, one of the most useful tools I own). Both of these work the same; two ‘Neutrik style’ XLR / TRS / TS combo inputs with level, type, and padding controls, a main output control, and a headphone control — the output is both digital (USB), and analog (balanced TRS). With these flexible inputs, you can plug either microphones, instruments, line level directly in to either input (it will even supply 48v phantom power if the mic needs it). Some even use these devices as ADCs for needle drops. These small two channel units get their power from USB. I’m using the RMC-1’s rear USB-A connector to provide power to the unit, and running TRS to XLR cables into the Expansion balanced in. For my first test I plugged my acoustic / electric Taylor guitar into one of the inputs, I then selected the balanced in and mostly used All Stereo, DSU, or Neural:X to bring the mono signal to all channels. The test generally worked very well and best I can tell seem to match the performance of the built in balanced inputs. I find that generally I must boost the input level on balanced inputs with these devices. I found the sound quality very good, but I don’t often play my guitar through my system, and had no point of reference. The most concerning issue I ran into, I do not believe is associated with the input module. Namely when switching between upmixing options (DSU, Neural:X, All Stereo, etc), I got some very loud pops and snaps. I read about these in the owner’s thread, but because I use Auto on most of my inputs, don’t often hear them. Which is to say, I don’t consider these noises a product of the expansion board. The only unusual results I found were when an unused input is selected on the expansion board (which on my system are numbered as Balanced 4 & 5), there is an noticeable buzz, with an accompanying rhythmic pulse, like a digital clock. If you don’t make unused inputs visible, this shouldn’t be a problem, but hopefully it can be fixed, or at least identified (the built in balanced in does not do this). All in all this unit meets my needs, I’ll hope the small issues I found can be resolved. Focusrite 2i2 G2 Behringer UMC202HD

When are the channel addition modules coming (naturally alongside DLBC and updated Atmos & DTS:X Pro integration)? My two 24's are begging for some siblings and my dual mono side surrounds are dying for discrete signals.
Pleasing the guys who can't let go of the past is great, but how about some love for those of us who can't help but strive for the bleeding edge??

Trying to decide on adding an internal phono module to my RMC-1 or use a XPS-1 external phono pre-amp. The specs indicate that the circuits are virtually the same. The better value seems to be the XPS-1 at $199 vs. the internal RMC-1 module at $249. An external XPS-1 allows more flexibility to use with line inputs on other devices. The internal RMC-1 module offers a cleaner integration. If marketing had offered the internal RMC-1 phono module at the same price as the XPS-1 the decision would be based on flexibility rather than price. It seems like the internal module would cost less to manufacture than the XPS-1 package. I guess if you can afford to purchase a $5k RMC-1, the $249 price of an internal phono module is a small price to pay for a fully integrated solution. Given the rising costs of materials and manufacturing, the XPS-1 could now be priced at $249. Am I missing something?

The r&d of getting the module to interact directly with the rmc circuitry and recouping that without any hiccups ide think . Its been a long time in gestation Looks a good deal compared to other brands upgrades prices imho

Given the rising costs of materials and manufacturing, the XPS-1 could now be priced at $249. Am I missing something? Though I already owned the XPS-1, I considered the RMC-1 Phono module — I do like the idea of having one complete unit and one clean connection. The deciding factor though was having more flexibility with the placement of my turntable. With the internal module, you should try to keep the single cable length at about 3’ of high quality cable (like the BlueJeans LC-1). With the external XPS-1, you could probably get much further away, by keeping the turntable cable limited to the same 3’ cable, and having a longer output cable to the RMC-1. When my turntable shelf is finished, I plan on keeping the turntable (pre-in) cable around 12 — 18”, and then using around a 4’ cable to the RMC-1. The XPS-1 should allow at least 6’ from turntable to RMC, and the (less sensitive) output cable could be even longer if needed. So to me it’s just a matter of where you can place your turntable, the price seems reasonable.
