Does it support DolbyVision or just HDR10?? It receives the same 2.0b v3 board as the RMC1 ; and its pdf specs include , so I would expect it..

Does it support Dolby Vision and eARC or what's called Enhanced Audio Return Channel? Without it any streaming from a Smart-TV's internal software will not be able to pass TrueHD or DTS-HD audio content to the XMC-1/processor and you'll be stuck with AC3 only. Maybe a beta tester will let slip ?? If the tv is 2.1 compliant which is a very long shot Ide imagine ..

I think e-arc is part of HDMI spec 2.1, no? Both source an TV will have be 2.1 compliant. E-arc is backwards compatible but the new HDMI cable will be called Ultra high speed. No more lip synch issues! Yeah!!

Big Dan,
Oh, HAPPY DAY!!!
This IS exciting news! My XMC-1 and 3M static strap are ready for the installation of the new V3 board. Your persistence and strong constitution are greatly appreciated.

Great news on availability and options for users to install the new HDMI board at home, awesome! So, one board down, what happened to the Atmos / DTS:X board?

Awesome news. I'll be first in line! Right behind you! Same here, but I rather only have to tear the system apart once, so fingers crossed the Atmos / DTS:X board will be released soon...

No more lip synch issues! Yeah!! Yes it is but thankfully an Ethernet hi speed cable is capable and it comes down to how the hdmi chipset is programmed I gather. 3dguru talks about it too' This reads as gibing with what hdmi.org says ; when we get a hdmi 2.1 compliant tv we will know ; and maybe a firmware upgrade ? If I was a gamer ide be excited too Wheve seen that hdmi 2.1 isn't needed for dynamic HDR as in HDR10+ due to bandwidth so earc may be another nice surprise ; don't particularly want to re cable www.guru3d.com/news-story/hdmi-2-1-announced-supports-8k-60hz-dynamic-hdr-and-earc.html

As an electrical engineer also working on HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 products, I feel your pain. Pushing 18Gbps over "good" HDMI cables is not easy. And unfortunately the HDMI forum never pushed cable vendors to clearly label them. All we have out there is bogus jargon like "ultra", "high speed", "super high speed", and whatever else they want to pick out of a hat. Be warned - your old HDMI cables probably won't deliver a good 4K60 HDR experience.

And, never forget the incredibly bogus HDMI Connector. (sigh) I'd love to throttle the "engineers" who developed that POS.

Dolby Vision support is a must and e-arc support is a nice to have (current TV does not support it) (my opinions). One other question: the new website removed the pricing which used to say $399, is that still the case including shipping the board in US? (early owner of XMC-1 at discount)
I also would love to know when the Dolby Atmos/DTS-X will ship!

Call me before you do because I want to join in on the beating party. They might have been awesome electrical engineers, but when it comes to the actual physical plug connector, they were complete and utter idiots. Of all the connectors I've seen for this hobby, HDMI is the WORST. Total garbage.

As Dan said , producing the V3 board was a huge hill to climb and took a lot of work, i cant even imagine what it would be like for them to develop the ATMOS board. Givin the complexity of the development i dont feel very hopeful we will see the ATMOS board too soon.

Givin the complexity of the development i dont feel very hopeful we will see the ATMOS board too soon. Ref the Atmos board. I may be overly optimistic but the August 2017 podcast stated the XMC-1 would have the "same basic board set" with "essentially the same" decoder as RMC-1. At the time this should only have referred to the XMC-1 Gen 2 since the XMC-1 Gen 3 wasn't a thing then. But to be clear I also expect the XMC-1 Gen 3 would also be using the "same basic board set" with "essentially the same" decoder because there's no good reason not to. So what does this mean? It doesn't seem like there would/should be major additional engineering resource required to get these XMC-1 versions out. Its either an identical board plus identical software with features/capabilities derated to specs lower than RMC-1, or it might be using "drop in" pin compatible lower spec Analog Devices DSP part options if the cost savings make it worthwhile to produce such a board, because the workload for XMC-1 is less than full RMC-1 capabilities. In either case the solution is a simpler sub-set of the full RMC-1 solution. So then availability of the XMC-1 Atmos board may be gated more by how straightforward the launch and ramp of the RMC-1 is - if minimal problems issues then it suggests earlier rather than later XMC-1 Atmos board. Availability also depends on how Emotiva prioritize factory resources for XMC-1 customer upgrades versus new XMC-1 production (of either XMC-1 variant).
