Dan - Great news, was this a prerequisite for the XMC-1 GEN 3 to also get postured for release? A few of us are waiting for the new generation XMC-1 which should be out hot on the heels of the RMC-1...

So how does one become a beta tester? I have a LG C6, xbox s, ps4 pro, roku ultra, tivo bolt, Chromecast 4K and a Samsung 4K bluray player. I think I have enough 4K HDR toys to test with.

My turn to pitch; I have a Samsung 4K panel (the most popular brand) I have a Sony X800 4K BD which of course also plays SACD's (for DSD testing) I have an Apple TV4K as part of an Apple ecosystem I also have a Emotiva BTM-1 (blue tooth module) All Emotiva cables including XLR's, an ERC-3 and a pair of XPA-1L's so I can test the fully discrete, quad differential circuitry. It will also be run on 230 volts and have some low definition PAL material to handle. The big one, beng in Australia (Southern Hemisphere) it's summer time, so I can do hot weather, high humidity testing. Plus of course on the way here it would be vibration, bounce and high altitude tested. I have quite a bit of testing equipment including an oscilloscope and I have soldering iron and I know how to use it. When can I expect one? Cheers Gary

Wait! I should be a beta tester as I am one if not the biggest contrarian here regarding Emotiva's processors. As person whom would never consider buying one I should be sent the product to test. That way you can bet I'd report even the most minuscule issues. Also they have the ability to change my mind.

I think that reasoning can go both ways: you'll never buy one, so your level of interest is questionable and there is potential questions with regard to your level of commitment.

I just don't understand why some people have an issue with HDMI connectors, I've never had problem. In fact I don't know anyone personally who has, and I know a whole lot of people with HDMI connections. Cheers Gary The only one I have a problem with is the one on my laptop, and that's because there's a lot of in/out/in/out (TWSS). Every other connection, in my theater, is rock solid.

Since I plan to keep our big old TV for a bit longer, I don't really have interest in installing this board. I will trade in our XMC-1 for a new XMC-1 for Dolby Atmos. But out of curiosity: how does the installation is done for us oversees customers? Sending it back and forth is expensive.
Will the local resellers instal this board? In my case, this would be Cinéphil in Belgium.

Hello to everybody from Italy!
I’m thinking of buying an XMC-1 since many months but before I was afraid for the support from USA and after the announcement of the V3 board I was waiting for it.
Now that the V3 board seems close to be available, I still have a doubt on the Atmos upgrade.
At the moment I’m not ready at home for it, but what will be the upgrade process in the future?
As Erwin, I’m afraid that it will be necessary to send back the XMC-1 to the USA and in case it will be a big mess. Or, as finally it seems that there is an Italian distributor, then the upgrade should be possible locally?
Still no idea when the Atmos board will be ready?
Alberto

Or, as finally it seems that there is an Italian distributor, then the upgrade should be possible locally? Still no idea when the Atmos board will be ready? Alberto Alberto, there is no ETA for the Atmos/DTS-X board upgrade. It's suppose to happen anytime between now and March according to Emotiva but I would take that with a grain of salt. The Atmos upgrade will cost $599 with shipping included both ways inside the USA and the board has to be installed by Emotiva. So I do recommend you to wait until it's released to place your order, otherwise you will have to send your XMC-1 back to the USA for the Atmos upgrade. What’s New: Dolby Atmos & DTX-X
With an optional upgrade, today’s XMC-1 features a replacement processor/decoder board that adds support for Dolby Atmos and DTS-X. The latest processor/decoder board replaces the original and adds support for Dolby Atmos (up to 7.2.4) and DTS-X. It repurposes Mix Outputs and Zone 2 Analog Outputs (making Zone 2 available via digital outputs).
This upgrade, which requires the latest (V3) HDMI board, is optional with a new XMC-1 for a total price of $2999 and available to current XMC-1 owners who have upgraded to HDMI V3 for $599 (including shipping). Factory installation is required (and included at no cost).emotiva.com/collections/processors/products/xmc-1You can also contact Emotiva and ask them if their Italian distributor can do the upgrade as well. Big Dan mentioned that their Canadian service center will be able to take in XMC-1s for the Atmos and HDMI board upgrades.

My concern is exactly about the timing of the release of the board upgrade as waiting till March is not a problem... I hope that there will be news soon.

Any idea what the price will be for the V3 board. I purchased an XMC-1 around November 2017 If you want just the HDMI 2.0 update to all inputs, I believe it's $399 to do the install yourself and $499 to have Emotiva install everything with shipping included. The Atmos upgrade price is listed in a post above. They have taken down all the pricing information on the sales page at the main website for the XMC-1 now that they list it as "Out of Stock". I plan on getting just the HDMI upgrade and need to contact Emotiva directly to get information to verify the price and the timeframe of availability. You should do the same.
