socketman, Our Calgary tech center will handle Canadian clients who need upgrades and/or service. No need to return to the USA. Cheers, Big Dan Hello Dan, Was glad to read above post though I do not belong to Canada or anywhere nearby. I am from India and one of the purchasers of XMC-1, gen 1 in April 2014. Since now you have an official distributor for India, just was curious about similar services being offered by them or will be offered in future?. I would be interested to upgrade to the V3 board My current location is around 1200 km from New Delhi (India distributor's location) but still better option as compared to sending it back to US. Would really appreciate views / comments on the same. Thanks & Regards, Amit

Bless me Father, for I have sinned...
I've become a little irritated with the delivery on the 4k board, and actually looked at specs for the Anthem, NAD, Marantz and Yamaha Pre-amps. I can't believe I actually did it, because I like my XMC-1 so much.
Boy, I hope that in < 4 weeks (by March 31), the board will be fully tested and available!

I’m also really looking forward to the new HDMI board. Currently have 4 UHD source devices and only one has dual outpu. Even with the V2 board, I have to connect them to the TV to get UHD with HDR and then miss out on HD sound.

Don't ask me how I know but I have a strong feeling that the XMC-1 Gen 2 is not coming back in stock and it will be replaced very soon by the XMC-1 Gen 3.

Don't ask me how I know but I have a strong feeling that the XMC-1 Gen 2 is not coming back in stock and it will be replaced very soon by the XMC-1 Gen 3. Sounds logical to me, an XMC-1 version 1 upgraded with the full HDMI 2.0 4K board and Atmos/DTSX board would be "the same" as the XMC-1 Gen 3. Personally I don't see very many people, if anyone, buying a new XMC-1 at its price point without both updates/upgrades, so moving 100% to the Gen 3 layout makes perfect sense. From a natural technology progression plus continuous improvement perspective the Gen 3 should have updates/upgrades asside from the HDMI and Atmos/DTSX boards. Does the Gen 3 have new DAC's perhaps? There's been a couple of steps upwards from their DAC supplier in the years since the XMC-1 was designed, why not take advantage of them? Cheers Gary

If cost were the same (or close to the same) it would not make any sense. If in fact they will not be restocking the Gen 2 I do wonder how long it will be till the Gen 3 comes out? Then it will be a question of what benefits will the RMC have over the XMC G3

If they do go direct, they had better make a lot of HDMI 2.2 boards for the Gen 2 and new processors. - Rich

Gen 3 will have full ATMOS, etc. I just don't know how long they are going to hold off on selling it as it will essentially kill the sales of the RMC-1. The only advantage of the RMC-1 over the Gen 3 XMC-1 will be the fully differential paths to all channels and the ability to add width channels (as far as I know). For the extra $2K, not worth it to a lot of people. I just can't understand the logic of why they are so behind with the upgrade boards, unless they feel that it too would cut into the sales of the RMC-1. Speculation at best, but for those with a Gen 1 XMC-1, it puts you in a bind of whether to sell now, or trust what the company is saying.

@ goozoo - Like I said earlier, I have begun to be tempted by other players in this space. And there's no reason for it - I'm a loyal Emotiva customer that wants to support the company. But come on, 4k is not a new technology. Who knows - maybe the board will be available in 3 weeks. If not, I fear an exodus from Big Blue may be on the horizon. This little board could be the make or break (for Emotiva loyalty) for many of us.

Speculation at best, but for those with a Gen 1 XMC-1, it puts you in a bind of whether to sell now, or trust what the company is saying. Based on the positive effect of the fully differential path in the XSP-1 I wouldn't underestimate it as its effects are not just internal but also extend to both before it (from the source) and after it (to the power amplifiers). Sticking with the Ti Burr Brown DACs, there are number higher spec, newer DAC's available from Ti than the 1796's, which the XMC-1 uses, which are of course more costly. So a goodly portion of the higher price of the RMC-1 may well be its higher specification in DAC's. Plus, to support fully differential paths there may well be a need for more DAC's and/or DAC's with more channels. Similarly there are higher spec, new DSP engines available from the same source that will give the RMC-1 more processing grunt, which will undoubtedly be necessary for the higher number of channels. Plus of course meeting DIRAC Unison requirements. Then of course there are more channels that the XMC-1 Gen which is limited to 5.1.4, which for the RMC-1 customer just won't cut it. The RMC-1 has a target buyer, for sure I'm not one of them, but it's not hard to see the appeal nor hard to justify the price over the XMC-1. Cheers Gary

Cheers Gary I see no reason than Emotiva should continue making the XMC-1 Gen 2. Once the HDMI V3 and Atmos boards are released, current owners will have a fairly modern processor. If the HDMI switcher is indeed common between XMC-1 G2, XMC-1 G3 and RMC-1 then everyone can keep up with the HDMI merry-go-round as new standards are unleashed upon us. Replacing the G2 would let emotiva fix some issues that I recall, such as complaints about cheap feeling encoder (volume knob), trigger problems and slow bootup (new cpu), are there others??? G2 and G3 are too similar to each other to keep both. I'd like to see Emotiva devote resources to an "mid level" processor somewhere between the MC-700 and XMC-1. One board with all the analog bits, a second board with all the digital, and utilize the same HDMI board as the higher level processors.

I'd like to see Emotiva devote resources to an "mid level" processor somewhere between the MC-700 and XMC-1. Welcome to the party, I've been suggesting/asking/requesting exactly that for over 3 years, except is was originally for something between the UMC-200 and the XMC-1. Much like what was suggested a year and half ago with the "XMC-1L" thread ................ emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/48058/new-xmc-based-processor The XMC-1 is more than 4 times the price of the MC-700, surely with ~$US1900 between them there's more than enough room to fit in a "mid level" processor. Of course with distributor and retailer margins bumping it, the price gap here in Australia is almost double that, so even more reason. Cheers Gary
