Which version had the single 4k input/output? It sounds like you're referring to the video board versions. V1 was the HDMI 1.4b, V2 was the one 4K input/output without HDR capability, and V3 is the upcoming HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2b/HDR/Dolby Vison on all inputs with two outputs. Is that the one that is sold out?

2011 XMC-1XMC-1 back in 2011. Not sure if that was gen 1 (which never went in production) or gen 2. Mine is from 2014 View Attachment The XMC-1 debuted in July of 2014, mine was one of the first three off the line and shipped to the public, and it has Gen 2 clearly on the front panel. Maybe we're mixing up the older silver trim look, to the newer solid black trim? Just a guess.

Is that the one that is sold out? The V1(HDMI 1.4b board) is what was being sold recently until the "SOLD OUT" on the product page was posted. V2 was being used before this, but from my understanding Emotiva had a finite amount of these and never had more made, so they went back to V1, and that is where we're are today. Thus waiting on the V3 board.

Just for fun of course Which version had the single 4k input/output? It sounds like you're referring to the video board versions. V1 was the HDMI 1.4b, V2 was the one 4K input/output without HDR capability, and V3 is the upcoming HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2b/HDR/Dolby Vison on all inputs with two outputs. I assume by "V1" you mean "Version 1"? Recap................ Is it possible that the XMC-1 Version/Gen 1 is the one that is "sold out"? That the XMC-1 Version/Gen 2 may or may not be "sold out"? That the XMC-1 Version/Gen 3 may not be ready to put up on the web site? Simply put, which XMC-1 are they referring to? There is no such thing as an XMC-1 Gen 1. Oh look, same as you, I did post "Version 1" I know American English is different to normal English, but that's what the forward slash signifies. Instead of the forward slash I could have used "AKA" as in "Version 1 AKA Gen 1 " to describe the 1st version also known as (AKA) the 1st generation. Whether or not Emotiva themselves called it Version 1 or Gen 1 doesn't alter the fact that it was the 1st version or as some people call it the 1st generation. Yes it is, and after all isn't that what's important? Just to be clear, the above is just for fun, no offence intended and no offence should be taken Well, maybe just the "American English" slight Cheers Gary

Slash or no slash, there has never been a XMC-1 Gen 1, but you are right, there has been a Version 1, (ie: V1) HDMI board. As I explained a few posts back, I just didn't want someone not familiar with the XMC-1 to be referring to a non-existent XMC-1 Gen 1. Nothing more, nothing less.

So much for the clear delineation between the XMC1 GEN 1 which was shorthand for the version with TACT room eq which was scraped iirc and the new version gen2 which had of course dirac live.. Anyone else remember how long we entertained the TACT version ? www.audioholics.com/av-preamp-processor-reviews/emotiva-xmc-1-preWould be nice to start with a clean blank slate with the XMC2 nomenclature so these situations would become moot [ especially when you have a modular system with multiple iterations depending on hdmi etc]. If the current gen XMC1 disappeared that too would help any new punters ...

So far, they have been consistent in saying the Atmos/DTSX board has to be installed by Emotiva or one of their reps. I believe it has to do w/certifications if I recall correctly. Mark

I'm thrilled the board is finally here... but I have another question. As the test pics are from Blackhawk Down in 4K... does this mean this release is in the pipeline. I know you're not the film distributor, but... the board and the Blackhawk, this would be awesome.

I just don't understand why some people have an issue with HDMI connectors, I've never had problem. In fact I don't know anyone personally who has, and I know a whole lot of people with HDMI connections. Cheers Gary It's probably because you don't use big cables with large and heavy connectors that will get disconnected as soon as the device is slightly moved. A connector that you cannot mechanically lock is "by definition" a bad design

A connector that you cannot mechanically lock is "by definition" a bad design I have 3 x 5 metre HDMI cables at the moment due to no 4K processor, they are 4K rated with ARC and ethernet, so pretty "heavy" and I guess 5 metres is pretty "long". Never had a problem. I also have 3 x 5 metre Emotiva premium XLR cables, from the processor to the monoblock power amplifier, so I have a pretty good basis of comparison of locking versus non locking connections. Splitting hairs, the XLR's cause me more problems when moving gear because I have to reach over the top and behind the power amplifiers to unlock them, push the little button, which is quite stiff and unplug with one hand. HDMI is much easier, just reach behind the TV and unplug. Cheers Gary

You sound like a full blown blue kool-aider here not willing to admit it's crap, or at the very least, could be vastly improved. Saying it's great is such utter malarkey. It's loose, is prone to falling out, puts unneeded pressure on the component's connectors, and gives very little personal confidence to an owner that their stuff is hooked up securely. Poorly made loose RCA connectors are better. Bottom line, it could be and should be much better.

I have to disagree, I have never had any issue with HDMI connections falling out or anything like that. I had way more issues with loose RCA cables in the past.
