I loaded the new software this morning and so far, so good. My wife even tested it and it all worked. Everything is working for me on 5.4!

The new 5.4 firmware has been posted in the “ Official XMC-1 Firmware” thread. Not sure why they’ve chosen to post the RMC-1 firmware in the XMC-1 thread, but if you see that post title first, and look no further, you’ll miss this. The new XMC-1 firmware is located HEREI've gone ahead and created a new section exclusively for the RMC-1 Firmwares so there is no confusion finding it. It's no longer mixed in with the XMC-1 firmwares.

First off, I have had my XMC-1 since they were first released and love the product, sounds outstanding and has been very reliable. I will try update to 5.4 tomorrow but not sure if it will solve either of these two issues. 5.1 surround sources recognized as 5.1 on XMC but, playing in stereo and all other channels including center channels are not played (center channel dialog not there). This does not happen with 7.1 source material, only 5.1.
Also have HDMI signal dropout after running a BluRay or other sources for about an hour. Stable for a while then, becomes unstable (connects, drops, repeat). My HDMI board upgrade was factory installed

Installed the new firmware. All is well. Zero banding.
Only issue was that I had to reboot once after the initial power up Took an.additional 45 seconds. No big deal.

Last night there was a little crackling sound then a buzz as volume zoomed up to max all on its own. Don't think there was any damage but was VERY loud and scared me a bit. The XMC-1 acted flaky after shutting it down (to standby) and bringing it up again, volume wouldn't change, video not showing on some inputs, etc. Power cycling using the rear switch seemed to bring it back to normal. Sigh.
I loaded 5.4 this afternoon. No problems, though almost yanked the USB stick out too soon when everything went off then back on after a few seconds' delay. Watched a 4K movie, no problems, but didn't do any serious testing.

Tried to load the new firmware several times from windows 10. Turned on xmc and my firmware is now 4.1 . Tried again and display froze when progress bar was fully completed but still visible. Unit locked up and froze. Stayed in that state for a while , shut down and tried a reboot, now error HDSB82. Friggin awesome . 😡

In my system I notice that when I rent DVD’s or Blu-ray from Redbox that every once in a while I lose video and sound for a second and then it comes back. The entire screen blacks out but then it returns and this happens 2 or 3 times per movie. Is this the same thing you are experiencing?

The update is done from a FAT32-formatted USB stick, not Win10, AFAIK. You must ensure there are no other FW builds on the top level of the drive; I usually wipe everything on the drive and copy just the latest FW build to it. (Emotiva is worse than some others but several components in my system get confused if there is more than one .dat file on the stick when I do an update). I think that error message has been discussed in this thread, so search and/or email/call Emotiva. If it is 4.1 and you have the new board, maybe you can try the original FW load (when you got he board, the special FW to be used when updating boards), then load the latest on top of that? If the FW is corrupted there may be no way for the user to repair.

I formatted the USB to fat32, then used the link from Keith’s 5.4 thread, when I opened up the USB to see what’s on it it looks like there is a boat load of other updates on that same link. I wonder if I install my old board and try to install the firmware that came with it and start new again ??

HDMI Audio Stutter - Oppo BDP-93
The 5.4 update went smooth, however after the update the Audio from my BlueRay player was stuttering. Video was solid, sound was choppy. Tried switching inputs, etc. nothing helped. I shutdown the Player and restarted it..still no love. Finally I ejected the disk and reloaded it. It worked fine. The rest of the movie was perfect. Not sure if this was a result of the update or just some funky handshake issue. All the other inputs are perfect!

I’ll get an hour into a BluRay movie or other source, any movie. Then my screen will staet going on and off every few minutes because it lost its HDMI signal. It’s like the HDMI after a while keeps resetting on the XMC BUT, never right away

Remember to power down everything for a minute or two before actually using the firmware. Best way to do this will often be turn off the right circuit breaker (s) for a while.

Just upgraded from the 5.2 code to the newly released 5.4 code and I think I may have found a minor bug. On the XMC-1 go into settings and then information. On my XMC-1 the Firmware Version field is blank, it should read 5.4. With 5.2 the Firmware Version was displayed correctly as 5.2.
Firmware Version BLANK – Should be 5.4 Kernel Version 1.2 18/02/08 HDMI Version 3.4 18/11/21 FP Version 2.1 18/10/02 CPLD Version 2.0 18/05/14
For those that have upgraded to 5.4 please check and see if your information is displayed the same as mine and reply.
Thanks

Thanks My firmware version is there. If you haven't already, you may want to run a "Factory Reset". Before you do this make sure you do an internal "Backup Settings", so you can "Restore Settings" after the "Factory Reset". If this doesn't work for you, then re-loading the firmware file has worked in the past for many Lounge members.
