Geebo , im sure you have tried every thing but it never hurts to have one more look.I have not done the install but back in the day when ide drives had little pins it was quite easy to have one fold over. If it was me i would take the board back out and look carefully at all connections, this happens occasionally with our snapon scan tool and it trips me up everytime. worth a shot :? Thanks but that one already crossed my mind. I've installed many a hard drive with those old ribbon cables. All pins are good.

Look forward to your update at some point, not everything made by man is perfect. You know sometimes Monday just isn't as good as Friday.

I installed the board, seems to basically work, haven't done much with it yet. I did install FW 5.0 and then re-installed after putting the XMC-1 back into the console (before I tried it again). I got interrupted a couple of times during the install and managed to lose the rubber front-panel USB cap along the way but no other hassles. I did have to reach under the board and pull on the stand-offs a little to align the screw holes. I put a piece of electrical tape over the antenna board on the right as the LED just happens to shine right at me.
Question: When I select my Oppo BDP-203, with no disc, the XMC-1 says it is 2160P/60 8bits YCbCr 4:2:0 SDR. Is this the issue folk are having with it not saying HDR, so I need to try FW 5.1, or do I need to put in an HDR disc?
Thanks - Don

Thanks - Don That’s the native resolution, frame rate and color space of the Oppo’s “Home Screen”. You’ll have to put in an actual HDR disc and play it to test. If you’re playing an HDR disc, and the XMC-1’s display still shows “SDR”, you’ll need to install the beta firmware.

Got it, thank you.
Plugged in an HDR disc and indeed it says RGB, SDR... Installed FW 5.1, now it says 2160P/24 8bits YCbCr 4:2:2 HDR. Looks like I'm good to go! Hope the final update is available soon; after such a long wait it is really amazing they were able to release a beta so quickly to resolve this.
Chain is Oppo BDP-203 -> XMC-1 -> LG OLED C7

Chain is Oppo BDP-203 -> XMC-1 -> LG OLED C7 Glad you got it working. I didn’t know much about video settings until this week. I was initially preoccupied with the audio at first but when we figured it out I noticed I had the same issues that others were reporting with video. I was getting Dolby vision with no problems with the first 5 disks that I tried so I was content with that. But when people started reporting no HDR I put it a disc and got 2160P/24 8 Bits RGB 4:4:4 SDR. In my opinion the tv image looks spectacular without HDR but it is not at its full potential! Well I downloaded 5.1 and just installed the firmware and now I get 2160P/24 8 bits YCbCr 4:2:2 HDR with the movie The Revenant. The oppo now reports 16:9 2160p hdr bt.2020 pcm. Thanks for feedback and information.

Man...I'm stuck trying to get my board to output HDR/DV as well, and unfortunately the 5.1 beta didn't fix it.
Sony XBR85X900F Oppo 203 Apple TV 4k
Board install went smooth as silk, and 4k SDR outputs (although the colors seem muted). Tried different cables, and then bought new ones, trying different combinations. Tried to force HDR on the Oppo. No luck on any front.
The only thing that I can get to output HDR and Dolby Vision are the Sony's internal apps (which don't require anything from the XMC), but ARC isn't working, so I'm stuck there as well. Eventually I'll get the TV off the wall and run an optical cable inside the wall to be able to use those Netflix/Vudu apps, but am bummed about the lack of HDR elsewhere.
Will be following this thread closely!

Photo showing DV and TrueHD7.1 audio from my Oppo UDP-203 thru the XMC-1: http://instagram.com/p/BkY7__qADyH A little out of focus - blame my iPhone6, not the TV or XMC-1! (from Black Panther 4k/DV disc)

Otherwise you won't get HDR/DV from external sources.

Thanks so much for the reply. All good on those settings. I'm using HDMI 3 for (theoretical) ARC. Checked all the settings on the TV as well. New wrinkle. I got one HDR movie to trigger on the Oppo. Still nothing that utilizes Dolby Vision. Also, something caused a lot of turmoil in my speaker setup. Left channel thinks it's center. Center thinks it's left. Both sub signals come out of the right channel. It's way jacked up, on Dirac or otherwise. Gonna try reloading saved settings, resetting the unit, etc. to see if I can fix that. I double-checked the connections to make sure everything was plugged in correctly. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's the firmware that has the Dolby Vision profile for Sony TVs.

virtualpj - sounds like your cables for center and left are swapped. I made the same error 2 weeks ago when I was testing a different processor and reinstalled my XMC-1.

Audio issues are resolved (just had to cycle the power on the XMC). Regular HDR works on the Oppo based on the test of a few movies. I assume Apple TV, too, but I don’t have any movies to test that are HDR but aren’t Dolby Vision. Seems like my only issue is specific to Dolby Vision at this point.

I am unable to get my Apple TV 4K to properly put out a 4K60 Dolby Vision picture with the new board. I have tried multiple HDMI cables (all 18Gbps compliant), and multiple HDMI inputs/outputs. The best I can get is a picture that looks like this - It happens at both 4K and 1080p resolutions. This is on an LG OLED C7 TV. Attachments:

Does it work when you use the same cable directly to your TV?

Watched "The Martian" in 4K, sweet! Maybe not the greatest "demo" movie but I like it and have not seen it in a while. No more extra cables to work around, and I can see when I adjust the volume again! Nice to see the HDR and dts-HD MA 7.1 appear as well. Bad news is now I want to run out and buy a bunch of HDR movies, sometimes I hate this hobby... Steps: 1. Verify lowest power mode. I also updated to 4.1 FW since I had not yet done this but am not sure it matters. 2. Load 5.0 FW. 3. Swap HDMI boards (a major chore in my system -- board swap is easy, unhooking and re-plumbing is not!) 4. Reload 5.0 FW just because. 5. Power cycle just for fun. 6. See HDR problems; load 5.1 FW, everything works. Video chain is Oppo UDP-203 --> XMC-1 --> LG OLED C7. Audio is a couple of old Emotiva amps (XPA-2 and XPA-5, Gen 1) driving Revel speakers (Salon2/Voice2 LCR, F206 surrounds and rears) plus a quartet of Rythmik subwoofers (F12's). I do not have a DV disc AFAIK so will have to test that later. Enrico was a great help, along with the advice from Wilbur and doc1963, and of course the rest on board.

Does it work when you use the same cable directly to your TV? Yes, I tried both cables directly from ATV to TV and they work fine in 4K Dolby Vision.
