Yep, double and triple checked. It appears it's just a dead input section. Have you tried reseating the board? Pop it out and back in - this happens occasionally when building PC's and PCI boards are misbehaving.

Minor issue. If I switch to an input that isn't used, I don't have an ability to get any on-screen display info.

... The mystery to me is how the XMC reset the power mode to video standby. I am sure of this since the saved settings has low power mode (saved just before FW update). This part of Keith’s post might explain what happened, it accounts for the auto restart too. When you make changes to the configuration of the XMC-1 in the Setup Menu, most of those changes don't take effect until you exit the Menu. This means that, if your XMC-1 is set to High Power Standby, and you set it to Low Power Standby, the change won't take effect until you exit the Menu. So, if you change the Standby Mode, then go straight to Update Firmware, without exiting the Menu first, you will really still be set to High Power Standby. Then, when you do the firmware update, your XMC-1 will try to restart when it finishes, and you'll get the error. (The change itself will also be discarded - and so will never take effect.) ...

What is the price difference between doing the upgrade yourself and having Emotiva do it and test everything on the unit at their shop?

They charge $25 to ship the board for DIY, you probably have to pay freight back to Franklin for them to do it, but no charge for labor. Probably pretty close, but I'm not sure of the exact price.

Well someone asked, so when I installed my V3 board yesterday I made a video. I edited quite a bit to get it down under 15 min, but it might still be long, and it’s just over a gig.
For reference, I upgraded the firmware to 4.1 before starting (hadn’t done that yet), and when I was done I had a version number in setup so I didn’t re-flash. I also don’t have a UHD TV yet so can’t test for all the issues that have come up (but … my vendor eMailed while I was doing the video that my set should be in next week!)
This might be useful for someone deciding if they want to do it themselves, and you get to see my front yard! Spoiler alert, it works!

Really good tips in your instructional, especially the one with using the HDMI cable plugged into the rear of the V3 board. Thank you!

Minor issue. If I switch to an input that isn't used, I don't have an ability to get any on-screen display info. Yep. I already reported this to Lonnie. He is working on it. I have my Bluesound Node 2 aligned to Analog 1 + HDMI 6 (HDMI 6 no video of course because the Node 2 has no video out) and with the old card I was able to see volume bar, info and OSD menu. With the new card there is not menu overlay, OSD , nor volume bar. In fact, my monitor goes to sleep mode because there is no video signal coming out. But if I switch to an active video input, like Cable TV then back to Input 6, where my Node 2 is assigned, with V5.0 I was able to get OSD but now with V5.1 I get an active black screen (I know this because the monitor doesn't go to sleep) but not OSD, nor volume bar.

Everything with the install went perfectly and I thought I was good to go. All menus work and inputs can be selected but none are recognized so I think it's just defective. Doo-doo happens.

Still got a weekend to enjoy.

Geebo , im sure you have tried every thing but it never hurts to have one more look.I have not done the install but back in the day when ide drives had little pins it was quite easy to have one fold over. If it was me i would take the board back out and look carefully at all connections, this happens occasionally with our snapon scan tool and it trips me up everytime. worth a shot :?
