Thanks "doc" and Enrico. I remembered reading it here (somewhere) but then checked the manual to see if both outputs were always active or if I had to run through the setup menus (it doesn't say either way AFAIK) and noticed that HDMI 1 was "primary". Will swap them this afternoon then hopefully get a chance to watch a movie (taking a break, gotta' play a concert tomorrow).

Hello team,
I updated my XMC-1 FW and replaced the HDMI card. The FW update went pretty quick for me, took roughly 80 seconds. Plugged the USB FW stick in the back of the XMC for the update.
When I power on the unit, the front power light blinks once blue then stays blue, but the unit is not operating elsewhere.
Thoughts?
Does one know of a possible 'reset' commend of the unit to get up and going?
Thanks!

Firmware should take 3 to 5 minutes to install. 80 seconds is kinda short. ( that’s what she said )

I've updated my Oppo UDP-203 to the latest Public Firmware released today(link below). I've also updated the XMC-1 to v5.1a. As I've always preferred, I've set the Oppo to output HDR with a Color Space of BT2020 YCbCr 4:4:4 12bit and the XMC-1 is reporting exactly what the Oppo is sending(ie: 2160p/24 12bits, YCbCr 4:4:4 HDR). www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-udp-203/UDP203-firmware-60-0625.aspxYep... I get exactly the same results even though I have all video output settings in my 203 set to “Auto”. The Oppo seems to be working perfectly with 5.1a. Now if they can only get the flaky HDR responses from the ATV 4K figured out, everything I use on a regular basis will be perfect... The OPPO firmware update now broke DOLBY VISION. The XMC shows Dolby vision as SDR. I tried all combinations of oppo settings and no luck. I wish I could go back to an older version of firmware on the udp 203.

Be sure to select TV for DV processing and not the 203. That might help.

Dolby Vision still works perfectly fine for me. Did you perform the typical “factory reset” on your 203 after the update...? If so, and that didn’t work, maybe try a full power down (not “stand-by) of the chain and start them up individually in the correct handshake sequence (Sink > Switch > Source) and see if that helps. If not, then maybe a possible cable issue (?) If none of the above, an email to Oppo and/or Emotiva support may be in order to help get you straightened out.

Hmmm... Wonder if the fix Oppo did undid the fix Emotiva did? Dueling FW. Hopefully they have an Oppo to test in TN. Guess I'll unplug the network cable from my Oppo before I turn it on today to subvert the update.
Can you download the previous FW from the Oppo website and re-install that? NM, just read this on the Oppo site:
Special Notice:
1. Once this firmware version is installed on the player, you will not be able to revert back to any previous official or public beta firmware. There will be no problem upgrading to any future official or beta firmware release. 2. For players with firmware version 42-0329 or earlier, please install the UDP20X-45-0605 firmware first. You will then be able to upgrade from version 45-0605 to the latest version, 60-0625.
Given doc1963's experience and knowing the way Oppo and Emotiva have been responsive I'll let mine update and see what happens.

I did a oppo reset and loaded my settings. I have an LG c7 oled tv. Anyone else with this combo? What should be the correct settings for HDR video output? HDR works correctly for me, but not Dolby Vision. I get SDR when I set the oppo to auto HDR. If I choose TV for DV, I get a pink screen.

Just a word about the new Oppo firmware update...
Oppo’s new firmware adds the new “Sony” compatible Dolby Vision profile. You now have three options “TV-led”, “Player-led” and, of course “Auto”.
If you own a SONY Dolby Vision compatible TV, then “Player-led” is the selection to use and will contain the metadata required to trigger the Dolby Vision mode on your set. If you own an LG, Vizio or TCL Dolby Vision compatible TV (all of which contain a special Dolby Vision SoC solution), then you should select “TV-led”. This is the same profile that has always been there.
The firmware default setting is “Auto” which should make the proper selection for you. So if in doubt, leave it on Auto.
If you are now experiencing problems “after” the update, it may be beneficial to plug your player directly into your TV to determine “where” the problem lies...

I do not get any EMOTIVE boot screen, nothing. Did you have 4.1 firmware version installed before you went to 5 ? I believe it’s a must.

Do a full power down on your XMC-1, then turn off the main switch on the back. Also turn off your TV and Oppo. Wait 5 minutes... Turn on your TV and wait for it to boot. Next, flip the main switch of your XMC-1 back on and boot it. After it has fully booted, turn on your Oppo. Check results. If no change, remove the HDMI cable from the Output of the XMC-1 and plug it directly into the main output of the Oppo. Check results. If you now receive Dolby Vision, then you either have a “marginal” HDMI cable that is now showing its weakness, or there’s an issue somewhere within your XMC-1.

From this description it sounds like you went to 5.1a without having 5.1 installed. 5.1a is a small, partial update, and only works on top of 5.1. Unlike the full updates, 5.1a is very fast (80 seconds sounds about right). If that really is the case, I'm not sure how to recover from this. You'll probably need to talk to Emo support. Good luck!

Has anyone had audio issues ? Cycling through the modes,. I only have four I believe. Stereo, all stereo, direct and auto. Only getting PCM 5.1 or 7.1 while watching DD or DTS So....... I have my laptop connected into Xmc on USB cable and use “ USB Stream” for Tidal to that input. I have all surround modes with it.

Its only 12 ft from xmc-1 to TV. Also running the oppo directly to my Oled works fine. This seems to be an Xmc issue. I was struggling with the OSD color issue until I updated to 5.1A. But I still had orangish white OSD text when viewing Dolby vision content Otherwise, HDR works fine through xmc-1.

I followed the instructions provided which mentioned nothing about previous FW versions. I would hate for this to be the issue.

The best advice would be to call Emotiva Monday morning and see if they can help you figure it out. Normally, I might suggest reflashing the XMC-1 firmware, but since we don’t have 5.1A in a complete file, I would not suggest attempting it without consulting them first. On a side note, I’m a big fan of Blue Jeans products and did use their HDMI cables exclusively, but I have had a couple of their certified BJC Series-FE (bonded pair) cables that didn’t live up to their specs. Replaced them with the Monoprice “Certified Premium” Cables of the same length and, surprisingly, worked. I’m not saying you have a bad cable, but with the current state of affairs surrounding this hobby, I also would not rule it out. I also get a “reddish” OSD over a Dolby Vision signal. This has never changed for me and, since others have mentioned it, I would assume that it’s normal unless someone states otherwise. Hope you get it sorted out...

I swapped cables as well and it didn't solve the issue either. What I now notice is the xmc-1 tries to pass the Dolby vision content in RGB rather than ypbr. This is disconcerting that the xmc-1 is temperamental and it works for some and not others.
