I'm still waiting on a fix for the HDR/DV banding issue. Hey enrico, Can i ask if you have a LG OLED? I have a LG LED HDR TV, not Oled and also a Sony X930E and in both of them I get HDR banding. Lonnie is aware of this already and they were able to reproduce the issue in lab but they haven't found a fix for the bug.

Since I updated to the latest firmware my Directv, sound, no sound, and sometimes no picture issue has been reduced by 99%. I say 99% because I had no picture and sound this morning. Had to hard switch reboot on the back of the XMC-1. Turn off, wait a minute or two, turn back on and it’s now fine. Chalk it up to the XMC-1 being essentially a computer? This is interesting, I only have DTV problems (no picture or sound) after using my Mac mini, and now that’s even rare. I’ve always considered it a Mac problem (and still think it is) as it causes all inputs to ‘go bad’, basically it hoses the V3. Do your DTV problems occur randomly at startup, or might they occur after using another (specific) component? Randomly at startup. I use video standby. This was happening a lot until the last firmware update. That I thought solved the problem. And it has for the most part.

When that happens I turn the DirecTV receiver off then back on, it's worked every time until now. My Directv remote controls the set top box and TV. Turning it off and back may or may not work. In this case it did not.

Where are we at this point? Im still having issue with my directv with no sound sometimes and atv 4k dolby vision is still not fix. Its been a month since the last firmware release. My DirectTV is working very well (including 4K and HDR), and my Apple TV does Dolby Vision, maybe the problem isn’t with the V3? Have you reported the specific problems you’re having to Emotiva. What troubleshooting have you done? 5.3B2 is where we’re at, but I expect we might see some new code by the time the RMC is released. Where are you getting 5.3b2 firmware? I have swapped differrent hdmis of different brands but still happens sometimes when theres picture but no sound. I have switch to a different input and return back the directv input and sound comes back. As of ATV dolby vision or hdr is not an option. Screen turns black and returns back to original format.

I tried an Anthem AVM-60 4k processor and returned it. For me, it wasn't as good as the XMC-1. In my experience, most all issues I had were due to the HDMI cables being used. Really? I was afraid I was gonna make that same mistake getting an Anthem. Even at dealer cost. Ill stick around with my emotiva a little longer.

OH, wait! @wilburthgoose tried the Anthem and returned it? 🤔 Really? Used his ears and gave it a listen,,,,,,,hmmmm! 🤔 But wont consider doing the same with tech he’s unfamiliar with. 🤔🤔 Seems like somethings wrong here?

Sorry, it was called 5.3B2 before it was officially released as just 5.3, it’s the one that’s about a month old. emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/963057/threadHowever, someone else posted they’re having the same problem as you when using video standby, I don’t have the problem with low power standby. I don’t have that problem with DV or HDR on ATV, there is the banding issue that has been identified, but they work and it brings up the Dolby Vision logo on my Sony. Cables are often the problem there, both quality and length, what are you using and how long? They should be premium certified, wilburthegoose also has DTV and is very happy with the cables he linked above, you might try those. I’ve had success with Monoprice ultra-Slim in 4 & 8 foot lengths as well.

I don't have DTV, but I do have Comcast X1, and I don't get video about 75% of the time when powering up from video on standby. Switching inputs or power cycling the X1 brings video back. This has extremely low WAF.

I have tried playing around with the delays via my logitech remote but it does not seem to make a difference. Next I want to try putting the XMC in low power standby to see if that makes a difference.

My cable box seems to take longer to lock onto the HDMI connection to the XMC-1 than the other sources that are connected to it. The ATV4K and the Sony X800 connect instantly, but the cable box is stubborn. What I do is wait until the OSD (from the XMC-1) pops up on the screen after turning off the source, it only takes few seconds. That seems to indicate that the connection is now available and I can switch HDMI inputs to the cable box from the previous source. I have tried an earlier version of the cable box and it hooks up straight away, so it's just the later version that has the problem. I have tried switching inputs and cables around so I know it's not them. It's not the XMC-1's fault as it works fine with everything else, so I am just patient with moving the source to that cable box.
Cheers Gary

So essentially you are delaying any action on your cable box after power-up XMC-1 or switching to the cable box on the XMC-1? I have tried this without success. I usually can get video (but not always) when switching from another source to the cable box, what fails consistently is powering up from video on standby with the cable box as the initial source. This may be related to the cable box being the last source on power down?

I usually can get video (but not always) when switching from another source to the cable box, what fails consistently is powering up from video on standby with the cable box as the initial source. This may be related to the cable box being the last source on power down? I never get just audio or just video from the cable box, it’s always both, they either both connect or they both don’t. My process for, say, swapping from the ATV4K to the cable box; Turn off the ATV4K Swap the XMC-1 input from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 Wait a few seconds until the XMC-1 OSD appears on the TV Then turn on the cable box Works every time If I hot swap from the ATV4K to the cable box most times it works, but if it doesn’t I have to reboot the XMC-1. I can hot swap from the cable box to anything else and it works every time. BTW I run my XMC-1 on low power standby, so rebooting is the long process. The cable box has both HD and SD channels and there seems to some correlation between which channel is selected when the cable box is turned on. If I turn it on with an SD channel selected it seems to handshake with the XMC-1. But if I turn it on with a HD channel selected sometimes it doesn’t handshake. The water gets muddied because even on HD channels the adds and other crap is SD, so maybe it’s the content at the time of switching not the channel. I have tried to test this theory but haven’t been convinced, it just too irregular. The model of cable box (Foxtel IQ3 made by Pace in the UK) is notorious for being troublesome, lots of processors/AVR’s have handshaking problems with them. So I know it’s not just an XMC-1 issue. Cheers Gary

That kind of defeats the purpose of a programmable remote control. Have you had any problems coming out of low power standby with your cable box as the source?

That kind of defeats the purpose of a programmable remote control. Have you had any problems coming out of low power standby with your cable box as the source? Nope, just switching sources to the cable box when it's already turned on and not every time. I have an infra red blaster controlled by iPhone, iPad etc. It has programmable variable delay, which if I remember rightly Logitech universal remotes do as well. We are not frequent source changers, maybe once or twice a day, so it's not a big deal having a few seconds delay. There's a new box available which handles 4K but it's satellite only and they aren't broadcasting a lot of 4K content as yet. It supposedly doesn't have the handshaking issues, but early days yet, I'll wait until there are more reviews and more importantly more content. Cheers Gary
