Well give it a try and see if it offers anything to your system. It might, it might not, but it's worth trying. What else is this hobby for if not to experiment? Just make sure you are using really expensive cables with this. I remember an audio dealer telling me on the phone that any (Analog) cable under $400 was crap. (Paging KeithL, this is part of the hypocrisy that you are speaking about). Yeah, I never went to his store. I like the Eitr because it sounds really good, but also because it takes the SoTM and mR and makes them truly a transport. I can even use my Rega DAC which has a crappy USB implementation.

You have to get Boomzilla over. He is a nonbeliever and has a discerning enough ear to hear the difference. I love the Eitr. It is a linear PSU Wall wart. Thanks, I did think the WW was rather large to just be a standard PS. Boomzilla had told me he would be on his way if he wasn’t knee deep in work. If you remember , he did a review of the Mytek Liberty. I believe it was mostly favorable.

And, Audio. And, the Lounge of course. Mark

The gracious loan of the Schiit Eitr by DYoun was greatly appreciated. After hours of testing showed me nothing in my system. The Mytek Brooklyn has a very good USB configuration with no noise detectable in its current setup. I think it may help in a lesser system or one with a compromised USB port.

Powering my sms-200 ultra is soTm’s sps-500 which is a switching power supply. It is selectable and will output 7-9V, 12V, or 19V. A maximum of 50 watts I believe. It is dead quiet. If D-Class amps are of this caliber then I see no problem in using them as a PS. I haven’t heard one being implemented in an amp but it sure has caught my interest. My Ultra is 12v so the PS is set to 12v as well, it has remained cool to the touch since I first powered it up Over a week ago.

OK folks, so the Brooklyn Nd Ultra both have 300 hours of break-in on them. Manuals in hand I started going over the settings again. This one, that one and another and this one too! oH,,,,,Wait! Whats this. I don’t have line level fixed? It should be, I don’t need/want two volume controls, itll muffle the sound! OK, set to volume level “Fixed” Your just not going to believe how much this DAC just opened up! Im running my digital through the McIntosh C220 and the sound with the control set to fixed has made a rather large difference. I don’t know how it all works but somebody had a towle around the speakers!

I have really enjoyed my time with my loaned microRendu. I can't wait to try the UltraRendu. I'm also happy that you are having fun with your new toys. Great stuff!

Mark I really think this is as close to spinning those perfect LPs as you can get without much effort. SQ off the charts ! It’s all I could ask for from recorded music. Which is crazy because I thought that today, before I found a better sound by setting the output on the Brooklyn to fixed.

I’ve noticed a few of you with the Sonore micrRendu are stating that they run rather hot, have I read that right or is it just the power supply? I haven’t a clue why if its the player but I will share that my network player and atached power supply run cool to the touch. Im using the matched sMs-500 power supply made by soTm. Ive you want hot, I give you the Mytek Brooklyn. It runs about as hot as the Emotiva DC-1. I assume all that heat is the result of it toroidal l power supply. This is a known thing with the mR and the iFi power supply. Depending on how the USB is implemented on the DAC (forget the details) the current draw on the USB port makes the unit hot with the 9V supply. I do believe the designer says that there is no issue that the case is meant to dissipate the heat. That being said many think that it is too hot to the touch for their taste. I haven't been following the threads, but when I was there had been no failures due to this heat (this was along time ago and may have changed). Boomzilla - These are network to USB bridges Add Any USB DAC that works with Linux. It makes any DAC a network player. [brp] Mine runs hot with same setup.

Mark Mark- once again the ultra Rendu or ultra SOtM shoul make no difference as the “better” clock in either unit is not used in the DAC. The DAC substitutes it’s own clock. Better clocks (other than one actually in the DAC) are audiophile BS IMO. Russ
