I’ve now owned the sotm product for four months, new and the honeymoon is over! And I’m still enjoying the improvements! Just thought somebody would like to know.

Are clocks important? You bet!Lonnie Avatar Dec 17, 2018 18:32:20 GMT -6 Lonnie said: I'm back again. Dan asked me to give you guys more detail about what we found and what we are doing to resolve it. To do that I think its important to give you guys a little background info. Now from the outside it may look like the RMC has a number of bugs and that we released it without fully testing it. If I'm being honest and took a step back, I would come to the same conclusion. But the truth is we have been testing this unit for a very long time. But it is impossible for us to vett out every combination of gear and setup. With the first batch out we (and you) are seeing gremlins popping up that never showed up before, simply because of the shear number of units being used in different configurations. From the outside, these gremlins (for lack of a better term) appear to unrelated but in reality are related and come back to a single thing, clock management. With your feedback we have been able to replicate the issues and through a ton of testing and debug code we were able to trace the root cause back to how we manage the clocks in the new DSPs. What we have discovered is that under the right conditions the DSPs become very unhappy and simply halt there operations which ties up the internal control lines which in tern slows down and in some cases stops the entire system from responding to the helm. Finding the root cause was the first big hurdle and coming up with the resolution is the next. In its simplest form, all we have to do is rework how we manage the various internal and external clocks to and from the DSPs. Sounds simple enough, but the truth is, its a bit of work. Nothing that we can't handle though. In closing I just want to say thank you to everyone for all their help, patience and I just want to say that I am truly sorry we missed this in testing. Lonnie My comment,On an unrelated issue, anybody that thinks clocks don’t have much to do with everything, look again. Im referring to clocks controlling the network players.

I can now run my SOtM through either my SS system or the tubed system. Straight out of my Brooklyn! ❤️ I’ll be reviewing the solid state system before any type of review or comparison. But it sure sounds nice either way I go!

I saw that article a while ago and mentioned it in a comment. I'd like to hear these same options side by side myself.
