Hey everyone, it has been a super busy show so far so sorry for the lack of posts. I want to show off the preproduction DC-2 and HP-1 pieces that we have here with us too.

Very Nice, I will say with a superior vote from others to keep the "Knob" on the DC-2 haha

Now with the new Processors coming out what is the LAN used for if there is no streaming service available? will there be an app to control the system? Zone two seems dead cause you'll have to use a separate component to input then to output.
I am in the market but there is so much coming out.
Gurus send your input.

I think I touch them maybe once every couple of months when I happen to be right in front of them for some other reason. I do almost everything via remotes. Probably the single most frequent button I press on any box is the EJECT button on my Oppo UDP-203 in order to put a disc in or take it out. And that's just because the process of doing that requires my physical presence there.
I'm not even too concerned about displays these days. I remember a while back when I was exchanging email with Lonnie promoting the idea of an integrated Roon Endpoint thin client within the RMC-1 one of his concerns was that the RMC-1's display wouldn't be big/resolute enough to display album/song information/cover art. At the time I said that I got that via the Roon Application on my iPhone/iPad and, if I really cared, I'd just permanently mount an iPad Mini somewhere.

Maybe a volume knob on the remote then haha, the DC-1/DC-2 are more likely to be used at a desk or sitting position so I would have to say may be used more than on a processor, but still on anything a knob is much nicer to use even on occasion rather than stupid volume buttons Chad

The DC-2 is a computer desk top machine that can be used for other applications. So yes, it matters. Check the poll. Its the most definitive poll I've ever seen here. Slam dunk blow away the competition, knobs rule.

Now with the new Processors coming out what is the LAN used for if there is no streaming service available? will there be an app to control the system? ... According to the RMC-1 Specifications under Other Inputs: " (1) Ethernet port (RJ-45) (network connection for Dirac and remote control applications)." At some point in the past here on the forum, in response to one of my [many] notes wishing [whining] for an integrated Roon Endpoint, someone from Emotiva — probably either Lonnie or keith — said that it couldn't be done on the base Ethernet/system because that's a real-time Linux and they didn't want anything extra possibly hanging the system up. So that's why they're going with the "thin client music streaming" Expansion Module route. Casey

... Plus the receiver XMR-1 that they showed at Axpona. The receiver was also mentioned in the article, it’s now 16 channels (15.1), still 200 WPC. Gotta love the utility of using class D amps for both physical size and number of channels [9.1.6] compared to trying to cram less class A/B;s into an avr [ like a denon 8500h ] On the topic of mid level pre pro's its a nice strategy to have a range of models to soak up all the 40 % off cards and spread the pain a bit 40% off $5k is quiet generous in Aus

Does anyone actually use the knobs/buttons on any chassis anymore? Yes, I've used the physical volume knob on my pre-pro at least 3 times in the last year.

Zone two seems dead cause you'll have to use a separate component to input then to output. I am in the market but there is so much coming out. Gurus send your input. I expect it will be an updated version of the existing App for the XMC-1, hopefully with some new features. Not sure what you mean about Zone 2, it’s a processor not a receiver, so yes, it requires a power amp or what many use, a Zone amp.

For the RMC-1 crowd. I'll start it off big! I'd like to show you the XMC-2 and RMC-2 processors. So is there an RMC-1 & an RMC-2? What's the difference?

So is there an RMC-1 & an RMC-2? What's the difference? Dude, you are a regular enough to know by looking at the back panels, are you not? RMC-1 = Full blown processing that will accept up to 24 balanced channels with modules added. RMC-2 = RMC-1 Light (or what the very original RMC-1 was going to be). No expansion modules. 16 fully balanced channels. Not as much processing power. Or, just go back and read this thread. There are only 5 pages so far, and much of it is gibberish about other things. You will also see the all new XMC-2, something we have not actually seen until now. What we saw before is actually the RMC-2.
