Huh. So has the RMC-1 been rechristened as the "RMC-2" to match the upcoming XMC-2?

Oh, and do we have any specifications available yet for the XMC-2?

I'll start it off big! I'd like to show you the XMC-2 and RMC-2 processors. Nick, pics are too small to make out and don't zoom.

Huh. So has the RMC-1 been rechristened as the "RMC-2" to match the upcoming XMC-2? Casey From the small pics that I can only barely make out, it appears we have a new animal here. We have not seen the first one until today. The second one is what we saw previously as the XMC-1 Gen 3. Neither of these pics shows the RMC-1, which has expansion modules. Guessing here, we now have the real XMC-2 we have never seen, and there is now also going to be an RMC-2, which, appears to be an RMC-1 "LITE", with no expansion modules. (Perhaps this could be a cheaper option for folks who are happy without having expansion modules???) But again, I can't see the pics to see how they are labeled.

Sorry about the small pictures. The links have been updated to show the full sizes.
No dates currently on the release of the XMC-2 and RMC-2. The RMC will be the one that opens the door and those will follow.
The plan is to have the RMC-1 and the RMC-2 live together at the same time. The RMC-2 has no expansion module bays so it can't scale up to more channels like the RMC-1 can plus there are some technical specs too that make the RMC-1 more powerful, so it isn't just a small RMC-1.

ONLY balanced out on both units. That is a very big change.

That's exactly what we have. Input / output wise, the XMC-2 is now basically an XMC-1 with the 4 height channels added, and 5 things removed: no 7.1 inputs, 1 less stereo input, no Zone 3 output, no analog record out, and no RCA channel outputs. The XMC-1 Gen 3 is now called the RMC-2, and appears to be a RMC-1 LITE.

ONLY balanced out on both units. That is a very big change. We have known this for some time now. Supposedly all units will be shipped with adapters from Emotiva.

I'm hoping when the RMC opens the door (soon), the ATMOS upgrade for the XMC-1 will become available.

I want a better pic of that RMC-2 backplate. Curious if they intend to be able to mate it with the RMC-1 via a RMC-1 expansion module.

Okay, so the RMC-2 is an RMC-1 without the Expansion Module capability. There fore smaller (good), but also therefore unable to accommodate the promised Streaming Music Expansion Module (bad) because the RMC-1 (and presumably RMC-2) won't support Steaming Music Client Endpoints on the base RJ45 Ethernet (which is reserved for Control operations as I understand (and unfortunately not capable of even doing network Firmware updates)).
So what's the difference between the XMC-2 and the RMC-2? Or are they the same and in the process of having their names changed? They sound super similar right now and it may be hard to justify any price differences?

I'm curious processor/DAC-wise how different or the same the XMC-2/RMC-2 are?
Thanks for the photos Nick.
edit: Looks like Casey beat me to it

rbk123, Casey LeedomXMC-2 = 7.2.4, only the front 3 mains are fully balanced. An XMC-1 Gen 2 with more of some and quite a bit less of others. Why does it always have to be more and less, not more and more? RMC-2 = 7.3.6 (or 9.3.4?), all 16 channels fully balanced. An RMC-1 LITE, with no expansion modules and technically less powerful.

I'm more referring to the XMC2's guts; are they XMC-1 guts, or RMC-1 guts. The processors and DACs are different between the XMC1 and RMC, but perhaps not with the XMC2.
