If it’s true as a “version” then I’d say I’d be surprised I couldn’t use the card. Or it would just be the RMC-1 and modules available in q1 of 19.. They could of easily meant the 4 channel expansion bays will be 500-750 but it wasn’t worded that way... oh gotcha.. thought we were going off post not an article.. I’ll read.

So is anyone at CEDIA who can ask for details regarding the "thin-client streaming module"?

Yeah definetly not a 24 channel version. Those of us with 40% cards might be able to have it all for 4-4.5k though. Throw in a dirac minidsp for subs and we can be running 27 channels for under 5k. Or we can spend about 25k for a trinnov if we really need those extra 5 channels... hmmm decisions.

I’m trying to understand why the RMC-2 is $1200 less than the RMC-1. Because it doesn’t have the expansion slots? What else?

Guys, please do we have to take this CEDIA 2018 thread down into inane discussions about the color of knobs/trim pieces and naming cluttering up the thread in the process? Here's some reporting from Cedia by Sound and VisionIt includes pricing as follows: - RMC-1 $4,999
- XMC-2 $2,999 available January 2019
- RMC-2 $3,799 after XMC-2 later in 1Q19
There is also mention of the expanded I/O version of the RMC-1 with 24-channels at $6,000 to $6,500, with the XLR output modules avail;able 1Q19. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. i like the 13 and 16 chancel, but will Emotive come thru or will we wait till DEATH comes to our door.

The news on processors is certainly great to hear, but I am wondering - is there anything else newsworthy from Emotiva at CEDIA? Like Casey, I am interested in hearing about the thin client streamer. I also am interested in DC-2 news. And, now that they have the toaster development behind them...what about the clock?

All we know is what’s in the pictures, the article, and what Hair Nick wrote here: ... No dates currently on the release of the XMC-2 and RMC-2. The RMC will be the one that opens the door and those will follow. The plan is to have the RMC-1 and the RMC-2 live together at the same time. The RMC-2 has no expansion module bays so it can't scale up to more channels like the RMC-1 can plus there are some technical specs too that make the RMC-1 more powerful, so it isn't just a small RMC-1.

The RMC-2 in an interesting middle ground especially if it’s fully balanced on all the channels. With my UFL it’s a $600 difference so definitely something that’s worth considering but the release date is also something that’s a factor. Plus the receiver XMR-1 that they showed at Axpona.

Gone are the days of Blue Collar affordability Somewhat of a gap (Grand Canion width) between the MC-700 and the next step up in processors. Cheers Gary

Maybe they are attempting to mirror the growing wealth disparity gap.. Most can either afford what they are offering or it drops off to the really affordable. I know it’s not the case but it might not have much of an adverse affect not having something fill that lower gap. I’m sure it’s more because they are trying to utilize most of the same hardware for all their upper tier while modifiying how and how much is implemented in each product.

So the elephant in the room: no CEDIA pics of the RMC-1? Maybe they cancelled it after all of this time LOL

Really curious on the processing power difference between the XMC-2 versus RMC-2 in trying to decide what direction to take? Are they essentially the same "guts" but the RMC having more channels? If the RMC-2 has greater processing power or other upgrades from the XMC-2, I'll go that route.

Reminds me of what I said to my buddy a few weeks back when I stopped by his place to see him, brand new Range Rover and two brand new Porsche's in his driveway, I said to him he and many others have such an exorbitant yearly income there's nothing left for the rest of us haha, I know it's harsh to say but IMO it's the reality these days. I work for a corporation where the higher up's as I call them pad each others pockets to the extreme but yet turn around and say the workers like us are the issue with company profits haha, I did get a big 52 cent an hour raise this year bahaha yet with the way everything goes up in cost i would have more likely need over $1.50 an hour to break even. We had a CEO for 2 years that was basically hired to help sell the company and he walked away with over 8 million in pay for 2 years of service, responsibility yes but 8 million worth I highly disagree. Anyhow back to Cedia haha, Nick where are the DC-2 and new powered monitor line pics, need something other than processors Chad

So, after taxes, it almost covered the cost of what they charge me to park so I can come to work.
