Hey Bonzo, maybe you should start advocating for an Analog 7.1 Input Expansion Module ... Just sayin' ... :-) Casey

Yeah I don’t think there has ever been anything that said that the RMC-2 is fully balanced like the RMC-1. I’m betting it’s more like an XMC-2 stretched to the max channel rather than the RMC-1. But if the case strange choice of name.
Wouldn’t a 7.1 input module defeat the purpose of everything mda processors are about? The XMC-1 is about the best 7 channel input I’d want to be limited to. Then again I won’t be against upmixers. 7.1 inputs mean you think you have a player with better sound than the RMC-1 or 2. I bet 1% or less would limit the RMC-1 with that rather than feed it digitally for max amount of options. I always assumed OPPO got out of the market because in mda there is no more room for their niche 7 channel DAC market when all people want and need now is an hdmi or a 2 channel balanced out. Cambridge’s uhd player is basically a OPPO-203 without the DACs and they want 650 because they believe this improves the picture and sound having no DAC... and they are Cambridge..

Hey Bonzo, maybe you should start advocating for an Analog 7.1 Input Expansion Module ... Just sayin' ... :-) Casey I'm saying this with a BIG smile on my face, so please take it in a very friendly manner. Both because I tend to like your posts, and second, because wow, where the frack have you been son? Schiitt, I've been doing that since day one. I pissed all over the original RMC-1 input design from day one. Dan claimed it was "a monster" and I said hogwash. After a lot of complaining we got the expansion modules. And since then I have been pushing for just that, a 7.1 input module and with at least 1 stereo REC OUTPUT. Unfortunately I doubt I'll ever see it.

Going to keep it short. For people who love their outboard players like the Oppo series. To easily allow different speaker placement and level settings for surround music if desired. For future players that might exceed the RMC. And for me, the complete weirdo, so I can use my old Denon reciever to feed the new processor with surround sound EFFECT features. I like listening to LIVE recordings and bootlegs with things like STADIUM turned on. Yep, for live recordings, those El Fake-O sound effects are not only desired, they are necessary. I want my String Cheese Incident CD from Red Rocks to sound like it did when I was there, not some flat soundboard. Without 7.1 I can't do this. My only other option, at all, is to get a Yamaha processor. Let's just hope they never drop their highly regarded effects section.

Haha gotcha. Gotta talk Dan into the Emo upmixer bonzo editions. Wasn’t that your award for picking the official name anyways?? You have to share that stadium seating for all of us and let all 24 channels take the burden.

I wish winning here amongst friends and fellow posters really meant something other than ego stroking. 😁 Otherwise my dream of getting a free RMC-1 is just that. 😉🤐😞 I know I'm one of only about 3 people on the planet that want, love, and require surround effects. Perhaps since Keith loves the Grateful Dead the new Emo-nence upmixer will have such an option? I can hope and dream anyway. 😀

Haha I remember when I thought our participation might be rewarded by beta testing only to find out we’ll still have to pay like everyone else to beta test haha. I thought those sound effects were really simple reverb effects.. Don’t want to give you false hope but I’d prob see it making more sense for them doing that than a 7 channel input. I would never turn down that type of effect when I’m sure it works well with the right material like you say.

I've never heard of anyone really using those sound effects for anything. I have a ton of live music. Some of it is directly from soundboards and some is audience recordings. I've noticed as I keep adding new pieces to my system, those sound worse and worse. Most of that stuff I listen to in my car now.

Wow... Now it’s 28 channels... WTH is going on?? The RMC-1 is a beast.. All this back and fourth seems strange though. Like I feel safer assuming 24 is the real number. I don’t know how it went from 16 to 16 plus 6 subs to 4 subs to 24 then 28. I hope we stay right here at 28 though.

Its a flat soundboard. Turn on the Stadium effect, put the ceiling fan on high, turn down the room lights, burn some scunk insence, and it's like being there. Take away the effect and its not the same at all. 😁

$4999 + $699 + $699 + $699 = $8000? Get a calculator, Big Dan!

Throw in the full additional channel log and you are sneaking in under $10k. Sounds like a deal! But but, he said $699 for each 4 channel add on module. $700 x 3 = $2100. Then he said it could all be had for around 8 grand. $5000 + $2100 = $7100. So how do we get to $8000? Sorry, Dan is AWESOME at his job. He reminds me of my realtor selling my Mom's place. GREAT at his job. Could sell 100 tons of ice to an Eskimo, but it would end up only being 70 tons, and 20 tons would be full of parasites. Just sayin.

Hey Bonzo , maybe you should start advocating for an Analog 7.1 Input Expansion Module ... Just sayin' ... :-) Casey He doesn’t want to give Dan any ideas, BGG (Bonzo’s Gonzo Gadgets — a subsidiary of Bonzo Industries) has an entire suite of analog I/O modules planned. I agreed that XMC-1 G3 was a bad name because it was a new chassis and very different design. I however like RMC-2, the second unit in the RMC line. I have B&W 800 series speakers, my 805 are the smallest, the 804, 803, 802, 801, 800 are all bigger / better. The RMC now fits that model, the RMC-1 is top of the line, RMC-2 is next. It’s possible the smaller, less expensive processor some want could be something like the RMC-4, with the XMC-2 being the end of the line. Anyway, I’m not jumping on the 1L bandwagon, really, that’s what we want to focus on? I do agree it’s a price point powerhouse, fully balanced 9.1.6 (the original $5K RMC-1) for under $4K, amazing. The new XMC-2 price pretty impressive too.

40% off turns into $5,100 and I happen to think that is a hell of a bargain if it delivers compared to the competition. I’ll give him a break for the lack of computing power in the middle of an interview. That is quite the rounding up though haha. Public speaking especially presenting things that are that important to your company’s future has got to be unnerving. Plus saying 8,000 did him a disservice.
