Does anyone know if the upcoming Dirac bass management module will require additional hardware from what is already in the RMC-1 (or XMC-2 or RMC-1L)? I ask because if there were an additional hardware requirement that only the RMC-1 could handle (via expansion ports), that would completely change my priorities. It will not. It will be software based so the only hardware will be the additional subs and a way to distribute the signal to them.

I want to ask, lately I don't see too many people complaining about problems with this processor, I remember someone saying that had problems with HTPC, what was exactly the problem and it's still happening? I'm about to buy this unit and would like to know I just purchased the XPA-DR3 and some other amps to upgrade from receiver to this unit. Thanks. I think people are patiently waiting for the next firmware update. The problems are still there but users seem to be holding steady to see what Emotiva will put out again before they decide to lose all control 😀.

I remember a couple of users saying that had no problems at all, one user with an OPPO that always put something like: mad max 2 hours 3 minutes, no chirps, no quirks or something like that. But I also remember someone saying when he matrix some additional channels over the movie mix he get some strange sounds, other user Geronimo I remember from this an another forum says he's not having problems also. So if the unit is basically stable then I would take the risk.

I'm about to buy this unit and would like to know I just purchased the XPA-DR3 and some other amps to upgrade from receiver to this unit. Thanks. My personal opinion, you don't hear many issues right now because they have mostly all been reported and we are waiting to hear back from Emotiva on a fix. Those who have issues still have issues. There might be a few lucky people without issues. When my RMC was pulled from my rack this past weekend, here are the issues I confirmed I still suffered from with the latest firmware: Current Confirmed Issues:- When streaming from the internet and using the AppleTV, audio interruptions happen at the ~47 minute mark on three separate occasions. First instance was a sustained electronic buzzing sound which only ended after I paused the video and hit play again. Second instance there was a 0.5 second electronic buzz. Third instance was 2-3 seconds of electronic buzzing followed by 2-3 seconds of silence.
- When using the Speaker preset menu, upon exiting the menu the subwoofer channel stops working. To resolve issue the input must be toggled. I am using the Center Subwoofer output. I have posted video of this issue.
- While watching cable TV, I completely lose audio 15%-20% of the time when changing TV channels. Most often this occurs when I switch from a channel with Dolby 5.1 to Dolby 2.0
- Crackle sound heard from middle overhead speakers when Atmos disc is played using Oppo 203. Confirmed the issue follows that channel when connected to other speakers. I have posted video of this issue.
- Similar crackle sound heard when playing a DTS:X disc and connecting front wide speakers and having the speakers set to large. If the speaker are set to small there is no sound at all. I have posted video of this issue.
- When switching from my Oppo to my Mede8der I get a blue screen for video. Switching inputs and going back to the Mede8er resolved the issue. I did another full reboot and since that point I have not had the same issue. Fingers crossed the last full reboot resolved the issue.
- I hear what is best described as a static sound from my overhead speakers when a DTS 5.1 MA soundtrack is upmixed to DTS:X. I'm guessing perhaps the overhead channels that are getting an upmixed signal might be getting some static from a decoder issue. I've heard it on a few DTS MA movies now.

I tried sending you a private message...not sure it went through. If you want to save about $1200 on the RMC1, I have a discount card I want to sell...let me know.

Well so people is waiting in the shadows then I was under the impression most of the problems were solved, currently I'm using a Yamaha RX-A3060 in 7.1.4 mode and I'm very happy with it, doing a new home theater in a new house and have more space than ever so was thinking going 9.1.6 I already have the amps (old XPA-5 Gen 2 that was using with the yamaha and bought a NAD M27 and XPA-DR3 recently) so I guess I'll go with a Denon 8500 or Marantz 8805 until problems are solved or until the Monoprice HTP-1 is released

I have posted my thoughts before but I would post them here.
So far I am happy with the performance of the RMC-1. My setup is different than most here as my Lumagen Pro feeds only audio to the RMC-1, that means my Lumagen does all the HDMI switching. I have used this for all of my processors since I have had the Lumagen so the loss of OSD does not concern me, the app for the RMC-1 gives me the data I need. With that being said here is my feedback.
1. No audio drop outs on Apple TV so far, I watched the entire season 8 of GOT which had some episodes well over an hour and did not have a single issue. Have not really watched any other shows, plan on doing that soon. 2. Kalediscape Strato - I was using this as a demo for some guests during my daughters high school graduation party, and I let it continue to play a movie for some of the kids in the room, when I stopped down to check on it I did hear 2 brief audio drop outs. This is the first time I heard those. I will say that with my Anthem AVM60 I had a couple audio drops on the Strato, but that only happened one time so I can't chalk this up to an RMC-1 issue at this time. 3. I am able to watch TV without issues and without loss off sound when changing channels, or pausing or FF, etc.. 4. I have 8 sources that feed audio via the Lumagen into the RMC-1 and I have tried to break it by switching between, XBOX, PS4, DISH, Strato, OPPO, etc.. playing different formats and other than the RMC-1 taking a few seconds longer than I would like to lock on the audio signal it's been a solid performer. 5. Like stated before there is small 2-4 second delay that happens when the sound format changes. One area where this is a bit bothersome is Kalediscape allows you to put together custom scenes that you can use as a demo. So I can pick any movie clip I want and put together a demo of up to say 10 movies with artwork, and all kinds of stuff. When each of the transitions happen, the RMC-1 takes is 2-4 seconds to pick up audio which makes it annoying when trying to demo your HT. This didn't happen with any of my previous processors, they were always very quick and it wasn't noticeable.
It seems with the RMC-1 you aren't going to get the fluid operation of say a Denon, but I also have been looking up other brands that play in the market and it seems like even those have some issues. NAD M17V2 has some bad HDMI issues and also a hissing in the speakers that they have yet to fix, I read that the Lyngdorp MP-50 had to have a reboot to switch from say ATMOS to DTS-X, I think that even Trinnov or Datastat needed to have a daily reboot scheduled to keep the system working optimally. I am not knocking any of these other brands, I just feel like as you get into more of these almost luxry processors that they aren't perfect and that owners are battling issues.
It kind of opened my eyes a bit, while my issues are very minor compared to other owners here, I realized that if I went to another brand, I might face other issues that may or may not be more of an issue.
When the RMC-1 is working it is a great sounding unit and I just love how it looks in my rack sitting on top of my XPA gear.
To those looking to buy, you can read the forums, yes there are issues, and yes you will need to be patient, but you are a knowledgeable buyer and should know exactly what you might be getting yourself into.

I am running a 7.1.6 setup. I have an Oppo 103 (region free) set at HDMI 1.4 and a Sony ES1000 set at HDMI 2.0 for discs and SACD's. Using 4k firestick and Chromcast. Also using Sonos for Deezer and Sat radio that I run though a Monarchy DIP to re-clock the digital signal to 24/96. I had a switching problem with my HD Direct tv box, but once I forced the output to 1080p and assigned it to a 1.4 HDMI that went away. The sound is great. Went from an Anthem statement D2v 3D to this and happy I did. Could HDMI switching be faster? Yes. But now that Dirac has completed their side of the Dirac Live update I'll live with it. Hopefully Emotiva finishes their end shortly

Thanks

I upgraded from the Denon 8500 which will be for sale shortly... So far the RMC even without calibration sounds better especially with respect to dynamics. With the current 1.3 firmware I still have occasional drop outs with DTV when I rewind and with the Shield when playing various streaming (local and remote) sources. Not terrible stuff but definitely not ideal, I too am hoping for additional improvement in 1.4... For what it's worth I had no issues with the Denon, my upgrade was driven by the hope of Dirac and the promise of better sound. My setup is 7.3.4, subs are stereo capable (configured for mono today in the RMC) in the front along with the center being connected to in chair shakers...

Jumping in here about HTPC.
Via HDMI, and USB DAC, both run very well at this point for me. The only issue I have is if using 1080 @ 120Hz, the OSD sometimes stays stuck when switching into it. I have to change resolution, wait for the OSD to go away, then get back into 120Hz.

I hadn't seen anything in a while so I simply emailed them. Their reply Hello, thanks for your interest in Dirac Live. As mentioned in Facebook it took more time than expected but we have completed our part of the work, this is now a question for Emotiva to answer. Best regards So fingers crossed

I was just about to comment the same. Would be good to see progress on the Dirac delivery, but I'm personally not comfortable with Emotiva rolling Dirac out until the HDMI and audio issues are fixed.

If I recall, StormAudio ISP 3D Elite Processors run on ADI Griffin Lite platform and they got Dirac Live 2.0 update already. I think they got it just a few weeks ago, though.
