I want to connect the RMC-1 to a power amplifier with only unbalanced inputs. The manual on page 72 says to use "standard low-cost balanced-to-unbalanced adapters". So I guess this means to connect pin 1 and 3 together as shield and pin 2 as signal. The reason I am asking, on some xlr outputs it is not adviced to connect pin 1 and 3, since it creates more or less short. So no danger here to connect pin 1 and 3? Anyone using this kind of connection? If you want to convert a balanced output to unbalanced you don't short out the inverted channel to ground. That is only done for microphones. The proper way is to take Pin 2 to the positive of the RCA and Pin 1 to the shield of the RCA. Pin 3 is left floating. Lonnie

I realize this question is going to be asked a million different ways so I will try to make it simple. I cannot connect my router to my RMC-1 or to the little black box with an ethernet cable. The router in my home is on a different floor and is 50+ feet away and would be very difficult to move closer. ) I would like to know what my best option is to make these connections wirelessly. My connection speed is almost always 80+ mps (Verizon Fios) and is very reliable. There are a lot of options on the market to do this but I would like some input on what would be considered my best option. Thanks!! I've always had good success with MoCA.

I was just unsure because of the use "standard low-cost balanced-to-unbalanced adapters" in the manual. Here in Europe the standard adapter or cable almost all connect Pin 1 and 3. Maybe this is different in the US. Can you point me to some adapters/cables which leave pin 3 lifted? Just saw there is a cable in the shop. Is the pin 3 lifted there?

Firmware v1.10 is NOW AVAILABLE...Dear Emotiva Processor owner... We have just completed a major update to the firmware for our RMC-1, RMC-1L, and XMC-2 processors. The new version is v1.10 (one-dot-ten).
We consider this to be a major update that greatly improves the experience for all RMC-1, RMC-1L, and XMC-2 owners and strongly encourage everyone to update. The original firmware code we developed for the RMC-1 family of processors was based on pre-existing code developed for the XMC-1. As our processors have developed and evolved, continuing to modify and update this code has become a hindrance, and so the time has arrived for a major rewrite. This new firmware release represents months of careful clean-up effort and a significant rewrite of the entire operating system. While we would normally offer a summary of what was addressed in the new code... this time the changes are too broad and numerous to list. You won't notice any major changes to the menu system... but what you WILL notice is greatly improved speed, reliability, and operational stability. As we said... we consider this to be a MANDATORY update for all RMC-1, RMC-1L, and XMC-2 owners... You will find a link on the product page for the firmware update file and detailed instructions... The Emotiva Engineering Team 5/13/2020 Installed FW1.10 about 2 hours ago. Since then, 1. Had a loud noise burst while system sat idle. 2. Just tried to play a CD, sound went into a stutter mode; about 4-5 stutters/sec. Couldn't stop the stutter by changing modes or sources. This is the first time I've experienced this stuttering of the audio. A reboot fixed the stutter.

The Download Link in the Dropbox is not proper set. The File Extension .dat is missing !!www.dropbox.com/s/pylw9ugfrgpmygg/EmotivaUpdate-1_10-2020_05_11?dl=0but should read www.dropbox.com/s/pylw9ugfrgpmygg/EmotivaUpdate-1_10-2020_05_11.dat?dl=0 Maybe someone can correct this. It was downloading the file as a Word File with .docx Check the FW 1.9 - its proper set there.
Thanks

Trying to update to the new 1.10 firmware and it appears it has gone off into Neverland.
For almost 40 minutes it has been reading on the front display
Do Not Turn Off
Firmware Update In Progress Kernel
I realize with such a major update it might take a little longer, but it has been stuck on this setting like I said for 40 minutes. Is this correct or is there some way I can recover from this and try again?
Thanks for any help.
Steve

It was more to day, that it was downloaded as docx - which is wrong.
I could rename it.
But some users do have issues - so I'll wait with the FW install some more days.
Can I go back to FW 1.9 once the major 1.10 is installed, or is it then no longer possible?
I installed it no issue with it not having a .dat extension. The processors will read it just fine without it. That extension is is only odd looking at it on a computer when you can't run it on there anyways.

Kill the main power on the back of the unit, let it sit for a minute and then boot it back up. Most likely it finished the update, it just didn't reboot. Lonnie

Can't say I agree with the comment on Neural:X
In my limited testing - Casino Royale as the test - the missing dynamics are there, volume is on a par with "Surround" mode. Totally fixed as far as I can gather. More testing to come, but so far so good.
Superb job Emotiva.
I had to go back and forth. For a minute, I thought it was the same, but there were more moments than not that I noticed surround having more presence, "horsepower", etc. I do think the gap is closing. This was the 4k version of The Dark Knight Rises.
Just watched the opening sequence and nope there is no difference in volume levels between the 2 modes - clearly there will be differences, one is upmixing after all, but in terms of loudness levels, there is none of the quietness that plagued the processor previously. I always listened to "native" tracks - might need to re-visit this ideology.
Shame monsieural isn't around - he'd have loved this update

So here is a question.... Lonnie Hair Nick KeithL How is Dirac on the RMC-1 going to handle multiple sub outputs? (3 in my case) With manual PEQ, I can change the distance on the three outputs independently so they all become time aligned before I apply PEQ. Will Dirac Live 2.0 see thee subs channels? or see it only as 1? a. If it sees it as three outputs - Will it time align all three together before EQ and then EQ them as a combined single output? Or Will it measure each independently and EQ each separately? b. If it sees it as a single output - Can we time align the subs with distance first before we run Dirac? Or will it ignore the distance settings altogether, and try to EQ the subs with no time alignment to each other? (Incorrect calibration as a result)
