I noticed there isn't a stereo sub choice in the menu like the xmc-1 had. Hopefully they will include it later, as i liked using that as my setting for dirac.

Thanks for the update. Will the update be available on the Emotiva website? Yep, we will post it on the resource page of the RMC-1. Lonnie That's great - looking forward to the update! Does the USB input accept multichannel PCM and DSD? Also, does the Direct Mode with Bass Management convert DSD to PCM? Thanks

deewan Is it around the 8 minute mark right at the beginning? If that’s the spot I got ZERO distortion. Just joe breathing and talking. I had my ears a couple inches from my heights just so I could focus a little better. That is it. The time stamps are 8:26 to 8:40 is where the worst distortion is noticed. Out of the middle left height speaker. Were you testing using the RMC or another processor?

As I was grabbing some time stamps, I noticed another funky display issue. Here are my settings for the two OLED displays (Left Display, Right Display and Menu Display): Here is what the OLEDs display if I don't do anything (correctly displayed): Here are the displays if I hit the "Info" button the remote. The detail screen never reverts back to the Input with a button click or waiting for it to change back. And here is the two OLED displays if I adjust the volume to either get rid of the detail information or simply change the volume: I'm guessing something isn't right in the code and a firmware update will resolve the issue. Regarding the glowing ring around the knob, here are the blue LED lights shining. After a few minutes of navigating through the menu the LED's turned off and never reappeared.

deewan - Id call Emotiva if I were you. The very sluggish response, the display issues, the knob stopping glowing all seem like signs something is wrong with your RMC-1. Mark

Thank you to both who responded about Mad Max. I need to go back and test more movies and try to troubleshoot. That scene of Mad Max is my go to for Atmos overhead channels since his voice is 90% (number made up number by me) through the surround channels. I need to test a few more scenes to determine if there is a bigger issue with the audio tracks and difference channels.
I can try taking a look, but is there a "Error reporting and Fix" thread yet for the RMC or just this owners thread? I never seem to see all the threads on difference topics in The Lounge.

I think I've read so many negative posts about "being a beta tester" and "hundreds of bugs" in Emotiva processors I began to believe them. If I had this issue with any other processor I would have first called or emailed Emotiva. Thank you for pointing that out. Emotiva has amazing customer service, I should actually use it.

(Also, now that the ding is gone, can you hear the "dong"? And, after that does it say "Avon calling!" ...an age test that I am afraid many of us will pass... ) Mark

Quick update about the issues I've listed above. I reached out to Emotiva support (as I should have from the beginning but needed a friendly reminder from klinemj to remember) and received a reply from support that communicated all the issues I reported should be resolved with a firmware update coming next week. The only possible hardware issue would be the glow ring around the knob on the front of the machine, something I am not concerned about right now. I was going to do more "testing" tonight, but knowing a new firmware will be released in the next few days I think I'll just sit back and enjoy watching some movies or concert discs.

Apparently Dolby puts that ding in chips from the factory. I am assuming it's so people don't steal them. Then they take it out before it is sent out to a manufacturer. But in this case it wasn't reflashed or whatever they do to take the ding out. So their you have it. I already received the replacement today. One day shipping. Lonnie thank you for that.

Yep another vote here for great customer service from Daymon at EMO.
I received my new unit today. And for some odd reason I couldn't get a signal on either HDMI output. I started getting frustrated of course. I thought my new unit was messed up. After trying what we thought to be everything we decided to try to hook up the previous one that worked fine yesterday. And low and behold it wouldn't get a signal either. I hadn't done anything but unplug the one and put the new one in it's place. We tried everything. So I unplugged all my HDMI cables again after he told me to shut everything back down. I plugged it all back in and what do you know it worked. Neither one of us could figure out what fixed it. It must have been a loose cable on the Oppo apparently. But Damon was very patient even though he could sense my frustration. And guess what? No ding.
We are going to watch a movie. I will fill you all in later on.
Thank you Damon very much for your assistance.

Some interesting developments.
As I eluded to in my earlier posts I was going to try and enjoy some movies this weekend. Which I have. Last night when I turned on my system the RMC-1 did a full reboot, without my prompting. The current settings are Video On Standby so it should start up in a few seconds, not a full reboot. It took 70-80 seconds to boot up, and then froze. It was passing video but wouldn't respond to anything else. I held down the front panel power button and the unit restarted. This time it started up in 2-3 seconds as it should. The most interesting part, since that startup, the RMC has been perfect. The OLED still display some strange information on the wrong side from time to time, but performance is great. We watched an entire Atmos movie and I heard nothing but audio bliss. I threw in Mad Max again and went to the 8:20 time stamp and heard no distortion in the overhead channels. I replayed the scene at a few different levels to make sure it wasn't a volume thing. Each time it played fine. I watched about 3 hours of content this morning and again no issues. Response times are fine, no audio issues. Just the OLED display mix ups. One thing I forgot to check was the glow ring. We are watching two movies tomorrow so I'll check that out then.
I'm not sure if my issues are resolved or what is going on. The unforced master reboot was odd and I'm not sure that would have fixed my issues since I had done a few reboots previous to last night. But hey, I'll take the better performance for now. Hopefully it keeps up.

Hey Deewan, I also have mine on video standby and had the reeboot happen and then froze. I just flipped the switch off in the back and it was fine after that. Also when i was playing a flac file from a usb stick, the song stopped playing and there was a constant beeping sound coming from my 2 mains. The rmc froze and no matter what buttons i pushed the beeping didn't stop until i flipped the switch in the back. I played the same usb for hours after that and everything is fine now. Also when playing music with the dolby upmixer(flac files) or the dtsx one, the music contantly skips(didn't happen the first day). When i switch to a non upmixer mode music plays fine. Have you tried the upmixers with music yet? Let me know if you have the same issue
