I have had the PT-100 twice already. first time around I didnt stick with it long enough and that was my fault. 2nd time I got my laptop hooked up to some flac and wow that was pretty darn good. then I lost my focus and bought a mutli channel pro and well ...lets just say sometimes more is not better....
so I already ordered PT-100 #3...maybe I can get lucky and get one of the two I had back lol....
is there any other option? I do like the USP1 and UMC200 but I am not taking any more backwards moves. lol....for now...

For me there is, but I don't think you'd find it useful. The DC-1 imo is better but not necessarily but a large amount. The PT-100 does better than the UMC-200 and the USP-1.

haha that is something I didnt try out with my flac files...the dc-1 ...after I got it back from service. maybe I should have . I know on just cd it was brighter but I think that it was just clear and unmodified and sounded natural. the PT-100 or USP1 goes with my amp better. size and appearance wise.
whats wrong with umc200 or USP1 ?

Nothing's wrong with them. Compared to the DC-1 or the pt-100 they simply didn't cut it for two channel in the same way. (Subjective impressions) The DC-1 is the best one overall of its kind I have heard. I've heard some dacs that did better than the DC-1 in certain aspects like the Schiit Gunginr multibit but overall top to bottom, everything considered, there has been nothing that convinces me to switch it out. With the UMC-200, it was thin sound. The USP-1 it was the feeling of things sort of squashed together in the mid range (though it still sounded great).

I know its all in the ears lol...sometimes the eyes...which is why I like some over the others. the pt-100 does what it does very well. with the extra bass control I can take away the brightness of my speakers. I dont know that they are actually bright. I never thought so until I ran the DC-1.

I thought they were going to make a better 2 channel pre besides the pt-100? is the pt-100 what it turned out to be? there are many 2 chanel options.

I mean better but not $1500 better Yeah, me too. I'm talking about the DC-1. If you look closely at their design you will see that this was the unit that's meant to be better than the PT-100.

Has anyone ever over analyzed getting the PT-100 more than Jax? Just get it, listen to it and send it back if it falls short.

haha no i read in 2017 about a 2 channel pre. forgot the name. I think you are talking about the EMERSA integrated? It's like an integrated amp using B&O class D modules. Having heard the PA-1 monoblocks I think it should sound fantastic. They also talked about getting a larger version of the DC-1 similar to the XDA-2. But they never did.

That reminds me of the Emotiva controller.

It's a passive preamp. Interesting and nice pprice point. The huge KNOB attracts me.

I actually have a nobsound tube preamp that I use in times like these when I am waiting on a new piece. I know there are other things outside emo. I have owned a dozen different brands of pre. lately here I just wanted something new as in not old to go with my new class D amp.

Gentlejax, I use an older Sherbourn Pre/Pro model number PT-7020C4....for both home theater and two channel stereo set ups. Running through the balanced XLR ins and outs on the pre pro from my ERC-2 or ERC 3 CD player to the XPA series amps sounds absolutely incredible. Best sounding set up I have heard. They don't come up that often, although there is one for sale on CanuckAudioMart right now. I have turned others on to it and they feel pretty much the same way. From what I hear the Sherbourn PT-7030 sounds very similar and is actually one step up being their flagship model. If you have a chance to hear one do it!

Often times folks end up here (a lot of time accidentally) after looking for other gear other than Emotiva.

That reminds me of the Emotiva controller. Same idea but no captive interconnects.
