We used to have the cool XMC-1 app from our late friend Chuck Elliot.
I think I read something the year about an Emotiva-supported PC app (or perhaps it was a browser page - not sure).
Any info on this? I was just playing with settings this weekend, and remembered how much I miss Chuck's app. (obviously, I miss Chuck much more than his app)

Search Emotiva XMC-1, its there to download. I use mine for the RMC-1 Enjoy

novisnick - I'm looking for the PC controller, not a smartphone control app.

You can get a copy of the Windows Remote Control App (beta) for the XMC-1 here. (NOTE: This is a temporary link and will only be live for one week starting 3/12/2019).
Also note that this is a beta.... novisnick - I'm looking for the PC controller, not a smartphone control app.

Chuck's app hasn't worked for a while now due to XMC-1 firmware changes. Not unexpected.

Chuck's app hasn't worked for a while now due to XMC-1 firmware changes. Not unexpected. Can you be more specific? Nobody has complained in the original thread for it. AFAIK, the protocol spec hasn't changed since July 2015.
I built the last version he posted and ran it myself. Seems to work okay, other than bugginess with OSD that is actually the XMC1's fault. I don't use zone2/tuner so I can't test those.

What interface does this use? Ethernet from PC to XMC-1? Infrared via a plugged in and installed PC infrared emitter?

Both apps here use the network API, Ethernet

Also note that this is a beta.... novisnick - I'm looking for the PC controller, not a smartphone control app. Tried running it, and it's blocked by Windows 10, even if running as an administrator. I really don't want to update the registry to enable it to run. Any chance it could be signed?

SmartScreen warns about it and you have to bypass that. Yes, it should automatically prompt to add the firewall rule (if you are an admin).

Yep - blocked by SmartScreen, which I don't want to bypass.

At the moment, it's still a beta product, so it is extremely unlikely to be signed any time soon. This could change in the future - especially if it becomes a release product - although I wouldn't count on it.

Whether Windows security decides to block a given program will vary depending on several things - some of them quite mysterious and uncertain. It will depend mainly on the security settings in Windows itself - combined with any changes or additions implemented by any extra security software you may be running.
You will also find that setting your default user to have admin access will minimize this sort of issues - but, yes, it will make Windows less secure.
I had no problems installing and running it on W10 (as is).

Mine is bog-standard...things are problematic enough these days, especially W10. I run as an admin and imagine most do. Those that don't probably won't be able to bypass SmartScreen and will not get prompted for the firewall rule add on app load.

never run as an admin - you're inviting really nasty issues. Malware LOVES admin rights - makes its life easy
